    There are still amazing health/medical lessons that we could still learn from Kempner's Rice Diet.

    I live in Thailand and you wouldn't believe how lean and fit these people are. They eat rice as the core of every meal, then vegetables and herbs on top, followed by a small portion (1/2 a palm size cut up small and stir fried) of pork, chicken, or fish. The plate sizes are 1/2 the size of those in America, and you couldn't find a slice of cheese or an ounce of butter or olive oil on any traditional Thai dish.

    6 years later after 2011, the rice house would be shut down due to lack of funds. Isn't that something? At least we have the books. I think it would be great if large groups of people got together and studied the Rice Diet books/Kempners research. Then start grass roots Rice houses helping the sick.

      Please: Can someone who understands this diet confirm if I have it right? 1. A daily portion of one to one and a half cups of dry white rice. 2. Any amount of fruit of your choice daily. 3. Any amount of fruit juice of your choice daily. 4. Any amount of sugar daily.
      Is this correct? Or did I miss something? Thank you for any help or advice!

      As a type 2 diabetic..fat is one of the ways we can help control our blood sugar because it doesn't make our glucose rise. But rice makes our blood sugar go through the roof. Pretty scared to try this diet..not just because the rice will make my glucose rise..but I would be starving all day if I only had 1 1/2 cups of rice to eat a day.

      @@Nightbird. From what I have heard and understand (so far) that as long as you are not eating fat then the amount you eat is not limited (within reason). Dr McDougall states that "the fat you eat is the fat you wear" but so far, I have to agree with you, my diabetic neuropathy is severe eating potatoes and/or rice, but it has only been 1 week on the diet so far. I will give it 2 weeks in hopes that I will see some benefit. It would be 2 weeks already but I ate turkey during Thanksgiving. Good luck to all.

      No. They are fooling you. This diet work because they start with 400 calories and gradually increase to normal calories of 2400. They should have called it fasting.

      The untold secret here is the restriction of carbohydrates. You could do it faster with keto diet or fasting.

      @@nawmsayin8017 Did you know how they do it? They start with just 400 calories of rice and then very slowly they add table sugar or fruits and little rice. They do it in a span of many months. It is very difficult to follow that is why there is a newer version which started with 800 calories of rice. This very small amount of intake will surely make you lose your weight even if you eat 800 calories of anything like twix candy. It is just another form of starvation diet.

    • @npoweh
      @npoweh 2 роки тому

      @raj-rajesh 2 роки тому

      @@npoweh Believe what you believe. 400 calories is still too little amount to sustain your body. You will still starve and lose weight whether you eat 400(about 100 grams) calories of sugar or 400(about 2 cups) calories of rice. Why don't you try eating only 100grams of sugar or 2 cups of rice daily? I am sure you will lose a lot of weight in just one month.

Brown rice, beans, lentils, squash, corn, and sweet potatoes ( purple and yellow). I mix it all up with some vegan gravy and eat until I’m full. Then I walk around the block, do it!!! You will be amazed how cheap it is and how much better you will feel.

    You don't have to have tremendous activity to stay slim eating mainly starches and other carbs. Most people add a lot of fat to their rice or potatoes and wonder why they're fat or gained weight. Calorie restriction really isn't an option either if you want to be healthy and active.

      No, I think I heard a bowl of oatmeal and two fruits for breakfast, rice and two fruits for lunch. No mention of fruit juice, I'd be surprised if fruit juice was allowed at all since it is a highly and unnaturally concentrated source of sugar, lacking the all important fibre of whole fruit.
