After cleaning the hair out of your hairbrush, it's good to soak your hairbrush in the sink with a squirt of shampoo. The brush can get oily from our hair.
The regular green tub of Working Hands is GREAT for feet! I use it weekly in warmer weather and twice weekly in colder/drier weather. It’s not greasy like Vaseline, so it doesn’t stain or become slippery. It can get a tacky feel if you use a lot, but if you put socks on right away, you’ll never notice.
Yep, I tried a urea cream a few weeks ago and it was almost life-changing to eliminate my “nuclear winter” feet! Was so good I am giving it away as a stocking stuffer to both friends and family. Amazed it took me 60 years to discover this one.
@@phina8392 what brand do you use and where can I get it. I have tried everything. I'm going on a cruise in 2 weeks and have to do something about these horrific dry feet.

OMG! I've been using a bar of soap to clean brushes forever and couldn't figure out why folks used anything else - it's so easy. I especially like using all the extra hotel soaps and samples.
Thanks Abbey!!! I’ve known about the Dove soap hack for years, as well as the two mascaras-both such great hacks!! Dove soap is also great for getting out stubborn stains on clothing! Just wet the bar, your clothing item and lather away. I usually rinse well once the stain is gone, then wash. If it’s super stubborn I lather & let sit before washing.
I use Dove Bar soap to clean my leather sofa. Got this tip more than 20 years ago. It cleans well, is gentle and everyone comments on how wonderful my home smells. And I have cats and dogs.
Using a bar of soap will actually dry out the bristles of your brushes over time. A wonderful and inexpensive product though is The Master Brush cleaner (you can get it on Amazon about $5). It’s actually used for art brushes but does an amazing job on synthetic and natural haired makeup brushes! 🙂
The hairdryer technique I’ve been doing for years. Also doing the “snookie” bump after drying helps give extra volume. I will do this for a few hours after I blow dry my hair.
@@Karen-jj9xe you can look it up, but it’s basically you take all your hair on top and hold it like you’re gonna put it in a ponytail but instead push it forward to make a big bump then use a claw clip to secure it in place.
*Mascara Wands* . I have small eyes and am very fussy about wand styles. My lashes are sparse and don't hold a curl. I have 3 wands that I have saved over the years that I love.
For the eyebrow tip, I used to apply a little peasize drop of vitamin e oil to the brows to help tame them if makeup ever looked too much :) I feel it subtly really helps. Give it a try too sometime! I really liked the clipped curl tip!
I had a great stylist 20 years ago who told me to always flip my hair while blow drying to give extra volume. I don’t blow dry often but when I do I always do this!
A more refined hairdryer technique that will result in less tangles and shinier hair but with the needed volume is to use the diffuser. Flip your hair/head the same way. It will take a bit longer to dry, but I find it to work so much better.
I thought that’s how everyone dried their hair. Who knew that was a hack?!?! 😂 I use baby shampoo for my makeup brushes. I’ll have to try the dove! For feet TJ maxx/Marshalls has a stick for the feet for $6. It’s the best!
My eyebrow hack if you apply too much powder is to just take your brush and start combing through it a bunch. Inevitably it picks up excess product and looks more natural.
I comb against the hair with a clean spoolie, then wipe it off & repeat a few times. A qtip rubbed on the skin (still against the hair growth) also works.
I literally use the same mascara trick and I use the same mascaras! It is amazing! I recommend coating from the roots of your lashes with the Maybelline and then the tips with the Loreal. That Maybelline gives you lots of definition and the Lash Princess will give it lift and length
Here’s a makeup brush cleaning hack that I really like … on a paper plate, make a little puddle with blue dawn dish soap and olive oil. Swirl your brush in this mixture, then rinse. The oil keeps the bristles soft, while Dawn cleans them. I will have to try the soap trick as well. 😊
Zote soap is amazing for cleaning your makeup brushes, lasts forever, and super cheap. You will find this bar soap in with the dry laundry detergent area.
I absolutely hate the plastic mascara brushes..🤪 The best mascara hack I know is to use a small brush that are designed to clean between teeth gaps. (Don't know what they are called...😄) They come in different sizes so just try a couple out and see which one works the best! Absolute gamechanger! Don't dip the brush into the mascara tube though, just gently stroke the tooth gap brush along the mascara brush to get just the right amount of mascara on it. And clean it off after every use. Only takes a couple of seconds. Totally worth it. Can't understand why NO mascara EVER has a narrow enough hole in the tube so the brush just gets the right amount of mascara on it. It's always too much mascara on the brush!🤪🌺
@@cammieklund right. But they have to be small enough to fit between your teeth. I think of the size of a normal mascara wand, and no one could ever fit one between their teeth lol. Those dental picks are tiny compared to a mascara wand, I can’t imagine how long that would take me. But maybe I’m wrong..
@@teeeff8337 You have to consider that not all people have perfect teeth. They have gaps. Some natural, some bcs they have had a tooth drawn out. So there are these tooth brushes that are designed to go inbetween those so they are bigger. They have everything from tiny brushes up to brushes that are almost as big as a mascara brush and everything inbetween.
I usually fix my overdone brows with a clean spoolie. Just brush it through until it gets a little lighter/less dense. And for the blowout - my stylist taught me the same thing, but she told me to use a comb to help smooth out the roots while giving it that lift!
I've been blow drying my hair with my head upside down for years I have really fine hair so it's a must for me tigi thickening cream is also soooo good
Great video, Abbey, I always love your hacks. I've been using the double mascara hack ever since the first video you showed it, and those two mascaras in combo are a game changer for my lashes. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips! I’ve been doing that with my mascara for years now and it works great! Currently I’m using either Thrive or Tartlette for my first coat and then Caliray for the 2nd. But I can use other mascaras so long as they have those types of brushes. Bottom lashes must have MAC gigiblack though. Long skinny brush is the best!
I always use my setting powder on my eyebrows, also gives the texture that the 10 hairs that are leff just can't i over plucked in the 70's been doing them for so long most people are shocked i do not have eyebrows.
I love the Lash Sensational too…it’s the best drugstore option for sure. Recently I splurged on the Gucci mascara in the light pink tube and it’s legitimately the most outstanding, miracle working mascara ever!
For the mascara hack, I've found that it's just easier and cheaper to splurge on an actual, good mascara! One that doesn't have plastic bristles. My friend does the 2-mascara "hack", yet my lashes are longer and look better from just using one GOOD mascara in the first place. You're showing a cheaper drug store mascara which is absolutely fine, but really you could save a lot of hassle by getting a good one; then you won't need two! I get my most gorgeous lashes from Helena Rubinstein 'Female Blacks', or the good old Better Than Sex that we all know and love. Have never gotten lashes like that from drugstore brands. It's just better than having to invest in two!
The two mascaras she shows are the best on the market (I also use them). I've used high end mascaras and these two hold up just as nicely. I've never used the ones you recommended, so now I need to give those a try. I'm surprised she doesn't just recommend using a mascara primer tbh.
Hi Abbey! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! You’ve inspired me to do the two mascara hack! Also, have you ever tried putting a chemical exfoliant (I use the ordinarys Glycolic acid) instead of a physical one for the feet hack? I’ve been doing this for the past week… *checks feet* with GREAT results
Someone else said to use urea cream. I’ve never heard of it, so I looked on Amazon and the review pictures are phenomenal. I just ordered the PurSources urea cream. I can’t wait!
For eyebrows you can use a eyebrow brush , clean pencil brush , qtip , Kleenex, cotton round to remove the intensity For mascara, wash the brush with soap and hot water regularly as it gets gunky and does not seperate as good
The best dry shampoo hack is to apply it right after you’ve washed, dried and styled your hair. Not only does it add volume, but it prevents the oil from seeping through in the first place. This may not be necessary if you can go a few days before getting oily, but I personally get oily the day after I wash, and this solves the problem before it starts
Another great brush cleaner is baby shampoo for natural bristle brushes. I find it doesn’t dry out the brushes as much with certain types since it’s more neutral of a cleanser. 😊
A. Extra hack for flaky feet would be to after you put on your occlusive cream, to wrap your feet in cling wrap/ plastic wrap u dear the socks for a bit . Then remove before bed and replace the socks.
✨😝Ewwww, hairbrush fluffies! Darn pesky things make me feel so dirty when I know I'm not!😅✨ That looks like a better hairbrush cleaning tool than the little metal rake thingy I have.👍✨ Ps- If ya feel too "lazy" to wash a brush, get it done in the shower....bring in a plastic cup squirt in some shampoo add water, swish and soak. When done showering rinse it off.
I have two more hacks for you! If your hair doesn’t hold a curl it needs grit, so spray in a sea salt spray and let it dry. Then curl. It’s the only way my hair will hold a curl :) The other hack is if you find your under eye is creasing from your makeup, make sure it’s super hydrated with most ironed first, then add your concealer, then lightly set with loose powder, then bake if you usually do that.
I always add a serum to foundation to make it more hydrating and dewy,it really works. Also I apply it on top of a really dewy SPF and the finish is very natural.I prefer a polyglutamic\Hyaluronic acid or glycerin serum for extra hydration.
Yes to the mascara! I’ve been doing that since high school! My mom used to buy my makeup and would get so irritated with me for insisting I need 2 🤣 I would save my babysitting money from the summer to get my two mascaras since she didn’t see the value
I use Windrift Hill body butter for my heels. After I take a shower, I rub the body butter on my feet and the dryness went away. I love apricot and citrus. You will love it!
Have you ever tried the old fashioned link foam rollers? I am much older than you, but as a little girl that is what we used to use. We slept in them. It might be fun to do a video about an old school product like that.
I enjoyed the video I especially want to try the two mascara hack and see how that does. And I might try a few other ones that you put on there too. Thank you I hope you have a Merry Christmas
Tip, I mix my foundation this way. I squeeze out 1/2 the amount I plan to use onto my palm. I then add an equal amount of either Renew or Kari lotions which makes it creamy, easy to apply and without caking. It also doubles the life of your foundation. I use an old or fake credit card to scrape the residue off my palm to have it left over for clean-up when you're finishing up.
I’ve been doing that blow dryer messy method for about 12 years since my former hairdresser taught me, never looked back! I also have a brush cleaner brush that I got for free with a round brush and I loooooove it

I'd love to see a review on exclusively water-proof mascaras. I'll add a great hack for super easy removal of the water-proof ones that will help lashes grow and stay conditioned... Thanks for your videos!
The blow dry hack works with a diffuser, too. I like the pin curl idea. Gotta try that. I find that bar soap leaves a film on my synthetic brushes. Instead, I use a cheap (unscented and cruelty-free) shampoo. Your mascara hack has made all the difference for me. I keep recommending your videos about it. Thanks!
I'd like to know how best to dry the makeup brushes after cleaning them. I do use a natural soap but when they dry they don't feel, look or act the same as far as how makeup is applied. It drives me crazy.. please help! I could hang them but that isn't going to help the texture/feel. If it's the soap type, I need all natural. But you are right about the "brush cleaners" they are terrible. Thanks for this video, best parts for me were volumizing my hair and the dry shampoo hack for greasy roots. Thanks Abbey!
Only ever used bar soaps to clean make up brushes and they’re fine. Special make up brush cleansers are the biggest scam. You also don’t need a special hair brush cleaning tool. Just use a comb to lift the hair stuck in the brush and then use a second hair brush and soap and rub the bristles of both brushes against each other under warm water. Cleans both brushes in one go.
❤Dr Dray tip for feet…Eucerin Advanced cream in tub with urea in top ingredient list….do this every night and you have pretty feet forever ❤️ Also I’ve used baby shampoo to clean makeup brushes since the 80’s…yup‼️ Now I love the Honest lavender Baby shampoo, gentle ingredients in a great pump…very nice‼️❤️❣️
Hi Abbey - Could you do a video on best makeup cleansing products please? I’m in particular products for gentle removal of waterproof/smudge proof mascara. There are mascaras that are fabulous but what turns me off is they are impossible to remove. Love your work.
I highly recommend Albolene to remove waterproof mascara. It doesn’t burn your eyes if you get some in your eyes, and it takes the mascara right off. Just apply, leave it on for a minute or two and lightly wipe off with a tissue or rinse with a gentle cleanser.
I have clipped my very thick hair forever. One day I was looking at the back of my hair and omg I had hair loss to the point of worrying. literally had a double L shaped area almost a half inch wide so going back to pony.
Abbey, I got the two mascaras that you talked about in this video and I have questions about application. Firstly, do you use only one coat of each? Secondly, do you let the first mascara dry before applying the second mascara? Thanks!
Another great way to wash brushes is to get a soap bottle and mix 50/50 olive oil and dish soap. I keep it on my bathroom counter and shake it up if the oil and soap separate. I put a few pumps in my hand, wet my brushes, and gently rub them in my palm. The oil removes the makeup SO easily, and the dish soap gets them clean. I use a gentle, clear and fragrance free soap from Thrive.
I welcome an answer from any of you who do the mascara hack..... does it make a difference if you let the first mascara dry before using the second one? Or applying the second one immediately after the first is ok (still accomplishes same thing)?
I’m so happy I found you!!!!! I’m definitely going to to these things especially for mature faces! What do I use for mascara remover!!?? I’ve always used Mary Kay but I’m switching to all drug store bests!! Ty xoxo

I'd love to see a review on exclusively water-proof mascaras. I'll add a great hack for super easy removal of the water-proof ones that will help lashes grow and stay conditioned... Thanks for your videos!
thanks for those hair brush cleaning tools! just ordered
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
These are actually very interesting. So many I’m going to try. Especially the mascara hack. I need all the help in that department lol
I have always used dawn dish soap on my makeup brushes it works wonders
Great hacks the mascara one is my fave!
Great hacks!! Def part 3, please!
Awesome! Thank you so much! Quick question…..what brown eyeliner are you wearing? The color/tone of it is really pretty. It really flatters you! 😊
Makeup by Mario master mattes eyeshadow 😊
Ok got it! Thank you!
I ordered the brush cleaner. I had no idea it existed so thank you so much for the excellent and helpful video.
Could you link the hair brush you had cleaned? I know you mentioned it in another video but I can’t seem to find it😭❤️
I just use a wide tooth comb to clean my hairbrushes
I definitely want to try the mascara hack & the twisting your hair before putting on a jaw clip! Thank you!
For cleaning hair brush simply use comb to clean the same procedure u have used
use make up brush mesh protector on hair brush, just lift the protector to clean out all hair off the brush. & use shampoo to clean make up brush.
When I was little, I would watch my mom blow-dry her hair, and it was this method. She was a teen in the 80's lol.
The brush cleaner is on my wish list.
This was a great video - you seemed so happy and silly and I loved it. I always love your videos but this one was super awesome. 🙌🏻🤗
Great tips! Can you share the cool mist bottle, every time I buy a spray bottle then stop pumping 😮
Great idea! Thank you 😇
Drying hair upside down, very 90s.
Try shampoo for washing your brushes it works
Definitely going to try the mascara hack!
I welcome an answer from any of you who do the mascara hack..... does it make a difference if you let the first mascara dry before using the second one? Or applying the second one immediately after the first is ok (still accomplishes same thing)?
I like to mix my foundation with L'Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer Lotion.
Abbey, have you tried tubing mascaras? If so which one is your favorite and how do they compare to your other favorites
I thought that’s how everyone dried their hair 😂
such great tips thanks for these! great video
You also need to clean the oils out of your hairbrushes!
What a lovely series! Thank you!
I’m so happy I found you!!!!! I’m definitely going to to these things especially for mature faces! What do I use for mascara remover!!?? I’ve always used Mary Kay but I’m switching to all drug store bests!!
