Great episode. I agree that teenagers are dismissed as stupid or naive, when they often have a better understanding of the world. As Gabby pointed out, the world you grew up in is not the world that exists. We rebuff the wisdom of young adults at our own peril. Puberty is such a hard time in life, and instead of receiving more space for their emotions, often the teens are ignored.
Are young women still saying that there would be no war if leadership positions were mostly filled by women? I remember that being a common sentiment 20 years ago, but its been pointed out that Queens start more wars than Kings.
1:15:12 is basically les miserables, maybe she was trolling with that example? Empathy is a very powerful asset, but sometimes the reason a guy is attacking you is they are high on meth. Empathy is a great tool to have in the bag, but understanding does not always lead to a solution, good or bad. It dangerous to project your own beliefs and morals onto others. Not everyone breaks the law because they have to, or because its the path of least resistance. Sometimes its just fun to do bad things. Hopefully people stop learning about mental health from TikTok. I'm going to order the book, thanks.
