@Rachel826 It's actually not backward, because if you try ''re-reversing it'', it's still sounds backward lmfao, its just the way it was recorded and then the recording of the voice has been modulated that makes it feel reversed, cool stuff anyway

One of the reason I love Linkin Park and Rammstein (not really the same genre I know) is because of the simple yet incredibly tasty riffs in their songs. It just works.
just goes to show, you don't need complex parts. if you can provide the listener with catchy lyrics, and instrumentals. it has a much bigger impact and sticks with the listener. both bands are sick and do it very well.
Deftones is also another great example of incredible riffs with simplicity. In fact, Deftones is one of LP's biggest influences when it comes to their guitar works. It's like you could hear some elements of Stephen Carpenter in Brad Delsons riffs, especially when it comes to their early nu metal sound.
Agreed. Rammstein always gets shit on for simple riffs, but don’t understand the musicianship to were they were able to continue to make/use simple riffs throughout their entire career and it’s so damn good. It also helps that Rammstein do easily the best concerts you can ever go to.
Meteora was the 1st album I bought and it changed my music taste forever. I didnt realize till recently how much LP led me to bands like ERRA and invent Animate today. Hearing more of this album 20 years later is mind blowing.

Turns out Linkin Park's cutting room floor has more bangers than most. Crazy how much they perfected this sound while basically being one of the first to do it.

Giving some “Lying From You” vibes from Meteora, which is one of my favorite tracks to jam to - now I’ve gotta learn this one! LP is definitely a groove to play guitar with
That part where Chester goes major feels very much like the chorus in Easier to Run, too. I don't know if it was intentional on LP's part, but it helps solidify that signature early LP feel with callbacks like that. So good.
Picked up Hybrid Theory in 5th grade when it first came out. It changed my life forever. They were my introduction into heavier rock/metal. I’ll always love them, these “new” songs are amazing to hear and just brings me back to simpler times.
Had a lot of mixed emotions with this song. The fucking SECOND the guitar starts you're just smacked in the face with THAT sound. That Hybrid Theory/Meteora sound. Then the chorus kicks in and it's Chester just doing a vocal style he hadn't done really since Meteora. It made me so happy at first and then the chorus hit and I got so sad cause we'll never get this thing again. I hate that Chester is no longer with us. This was the band that got me into anything heavier then rap back in the day. It changed the path of my life in regards to music. It means SO much to me and I don't even think I realized it
So glad I saw them in 2008 in OKC. Chester was sick and couldn’t sing well but on In the End the whole crowd sang all of his parts while Mike held the mic to the crowd and he was just blown away it was amazing. I’m pretty sure I sang every word the whole show lol. Great reaction Nik! As a guitarist myself, I appreciate a musicians input too!
I feel like Linkin Park is still ahead of its time, from Hybrid Theory - Living Things, they all sounded unique and fresh, The Hunting Party is amazing for being heavy, while One More Light on the other hand its a Pop Album and not to discredit them, i think they can make Pop music work, its just Chester's vocals were to raw for some of the songs. Still every album they made still sounded different from each other and still sounds they were ahead of the curb, even One More Light the pop music made sounded so much better then what other pop artist have made.
If you add just one riff over the main riffs and make the guitars louder in any OML song, the entire album would still become a really Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album.
2:09 It's a simple riff but it's brilliant and a breath of air in these modern metal days, where everything has to be unnecessarily technical, just to impress other guitarists.
Linkin Park is to my music tastes what The Office is my taste in TV shows. I can endlessly replay them both, and they never feel dated. With thay said, these new (old) songs are like when The Office Superfan extended episodes started coming out. It's all nostalgic, yet new at the same time.

I was like 8 years old. - Haven't stopped listening to the band ever since, and it's honestly the only band I NEVER get bored/tired of... Legit still enjoying it as much as 2 decades ago. Absolutely iconic, legendary, hall-of-fame type of band. Not just in the rock/metal/alternative scene, but just music in general.
This has a slowed down Papercut vibe with the riff and Mikes flow in the verses. Still sick. Still love it. Will always love this band. Definitely a life changing band for most of us here
Just went to LP tribute band last weekend and it made me realise that LP bridge parts of the songs are so high energy, at least Hybrid Theory and Meteora. And obviously Chester is one of a kind.

An interesting about the intro I don't see anyone else talking about is the reversed intro has the exact same formula as Somewhere I Belong The message is reversed, but the order of the words still are reversed as well, just like how they did the guitar intro. Reversed, the order is 4 - 3 - 2 - 1, they clipped the audio tracks to put them back in the order of 1 - 2 - 3 - 4. The original message just reversed is "happen to this wanted never I." -> "I never wanted this to happen." So cool!
I completely love this new format. So much more interesting to see reactions happen in real time from your musician standpoint. Please keep doing it. RIP Chester
it's sad that these songs went unreleased until now, but at the same time it's awesome, cause we get more LP and Chester to listen to. i've never been so conflicted in all my life!
Mike is doing with this 20th anniversary edition the same as with the original album. They released Somewhere I Belong first, which was a more subtle approach to the sound they were known for with HT, but it was a bang too and could easily be compared to Lost. Then they released Faint, which, while it sounds even harder than Fighting Myself, it still hits harder than the former single. It's like Mike wants to repeat even the way they promoted the album. By the way, that backing vocals of Chester singing "inside of me" in the last chorus reminds me of Hoobastank. They do that a lot as well and it's a band of which I like many songs
Thank you Nick! This was absolutely genuine reaction! You playing guitar along the song. It felt so real! No, you were definitely not destroying song. I could feel your excitement! I hope there will be more occasions to see you geek out so much😍😊
I've been listening to them since they came out, love them so much, they're my number 1 favorite band. Chester's singing is just so beautiful and haunting. I can't get enough of it, and LP has simple riffs that mange to punch through and be memorable, and their songs age like wine
Linkin Park has such a unique sound that it's pretty much iconic. I can instantly tell by the opener for most of their songs that it's them playing. Chester left behind a legacy that no one could take away from him.
This Song reflects exactly what I loved so much about Linkin Park back in the days and what they were missing past MtM. This is really really good Old Hybrid Theory/Meteora stuff
2005, linkin park and evanescence were the first 2 bands i heard in IT class in high school and they were the gateway into this world . this track brings back so many memories
My first concert was back in 2003 i went to the Family Values Tour , this was when Hybrid theory was still their only album. Linkin Park, Stained, Static X, Deadsy, Powerman 5000, and Stone temple pilots
0:15 Linkin Park, Slipknot, and Breaking Benjamin mostly from what I've noticed, but sometimes Korn, Three Days Grace (w/ Adam), Deftones, and Otep are other late 90s-early 2000s alt-metal bands that influence later metal bands.
This song is pretty much a trip down memory lane that is able to feel different. Makes me remember watching Meteora Live in Texas, over and over again with my older brother in a DVD and being amazed by the sheer stage presence of Chester and his energy. Fond memories.
I have been a big Linkin Park fan since the Meteora era, my family and I have been big fans. but I am not used to hearing other people speak positively of them... it is so nice to hear somebody else really enjoy their music ❤️
You do know it's actually a good thing if your audience is more of people who haven't subscribed, that means your videos are always reaching a larger audience
I'm super lucky and honored to have seen them at Pinkpop fest 2007, 2012, and Amsterdam in 2014. Hearing Fighting Myself really brings me back to the early days when you used to saw Linkin Park on MTV. Gosh.. i miss Chester
I was listening to hybrid theory just today on the way to work and it hit me just how amazing it is that such an influential album to this day and 20 yrs later, every song still holds up and I honestly believe always will. Unless something incredibly drastic changes in music haha.
*breakdown senses tingling* 😂 It's impressive how you effortlessly just knew what to play! I love this Linkin Park song and video. Really nostalgic. Almost comforting, their familiar sound.
Loving these new style of videos that go a bit more in depth it's acctualy really inspiring me to learn some more. I've been in this creative rut but idk seeing you work out the songs as you listen just makes me wanna do the same!
I've been thinking about this song for six days and decided to deliver my story about Linkin Park that I had. When it comes to Linkin Park I believe I heard them first in 2005. At that time I experienced many different things for the first time: like anime called Naruto and I was very much into AMV's, and during one I heard "Somewhere I Belong" by Linkin Park. Since then it was the song that slowly became my favorite from Linkin Park. I enjoyed the sound of it more than any other and when I started to understand English language it resonated with me on a deeper level. Just like Chester I needed "to find something I wanted all along. Somewhere I belong.". I already found many people that I can call as my greatest friends and I still have my family that I deeply love. ❤Still this song "Fighting Myself" starts to resonates with me more than even that "Somewhere I Belong". When I think about it I remember every moment when I kept some secrets from my mom. I just didn't wanted to be "another source of problems for her". This is the lesson that I learned the hard way and I want other people to know it. It's important to adress the issues, that You are dealing with to people, that You can trust. Otherwise You will be overwhelmed with those problems, explode with "anger that is constantly inside" You and still become "another source of problems for the closest ones" , and feel like: "It would be better, if I would adress those problems way earlier" (just like me). That's a long story I know. But I think I needed to get it off from my chest. 😂Great reaction!😃
I've had a similar experience however it was 2017 and my discovery started so close to Chester's death Nothing and no one helped me how linkin park did ❤️
Kind of crazy how they released full albums, had the linkin park underground releases, and they still have songs from that era unreleased that are this high quality.
The high-pitched ambient falsetto reminds me a lot of what Dance Gavin Dance did between songs on Tree City Sessions 2. Specifically for Man of the Year.
I love Linkin Park. One of the very few bands that had albums that I could listen to front to back, and they had 2 of them, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. They were my gateway into rock music at 10 years old when Hybrid Theory came out. I still listen to them more than 20 years later.
So true. LP in this new age of metal are simply brushed off by new school metalheads cos they are quite possibly the biggest band in this genre and since hating on mainstream is common nowadays. People don't dive deep into the music enough to see that without them most of modern metal bands wouldn't have the sound they have today.
I don’t think it’s really an exaggeration to say 90% of modern metal wouldn’t exist without these guys. They would at least exist differently. Even if they’re a slipknot copy there’s probably at least the slightest influence from Linkin Park in most of them. I also got into Linkin Park a little late. My favorite thing about them is they remained cool while being mainstream. It’s one of the few bands I can truly enjoy while listening to it with my wife and friends
I feel like this song and lost were a great way of in a way showing the spectrum of meteora honestly. Lost was on the more emotional side ( like maybe numb breaking the habit )and fighting myself was in the more upbeat side (like faint or somewhere I belong ) at least in terms of sound . Get why they may have not made the cut originally but still could see where they fit in now .
The drums are so funky and I fucking love them. Actually since She Couldn't, I started learning guitar and drums in addition to my bass, and this song feels like my goal song. I will learn this on everything, including my voice if I could be damned to make it sound good. This is such a good song and I want to learn it as much as I can.
For some reason this reminded me of the most simple metal song ever: Impaled Nazarene - Never Forgive. Even Mr. Nocturnal could play it having heard 5 seconds of it. Yet it is a very good song, catchy.
Every other band is like “nah that shit is too simple. People gonna be trashing about how unskilled we are“ lp be like “man fuck that it sounds cool so we do it anyways“ and everybody is like “man how can something so simple be so good“. Well minimalism is modern my guys

it's sad that these songs went unreleased until now, but at the same time it's awesome, cause we get more LP and Chester to listen to. i've never been so conflicted in all my life!
They do that a lot as well and it's a band of which I like many songs
also it's a great marketing move, that cant be argued.
@@UltimateGamerCC yeah I'm not arguing, it's just something I noticed
Love how the world always comes together with music. Rest in peace Chester, bringing people together even in passing.
much love nik!!!! loving the new content!
Thank you Nick! This was absolutely genuine reaction! You playing guitar along the song. It felt so real! No, you were definitely not destroying song. I could feel your excitement! I hope there will be more occasions to see you geek out so much😍😊
I can listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora start to finish without skipping. Anytime I hear early LP it is instant nostalgia from my teenage years.
6:35 you nailed it
I'm still listening to old albums Linkin Park
I swear, they never getting older, its just that good
So happy I got to see them all original members
Am I the only person who heard hints of Hit the Floor in Mike's rap parts?
2005, linkin park and evanescence were the first 2 bands i heard in IT class in high school and they were the gateway into this world . this track brings back so many memories
My first concert was back in 2003 i went to the Family Values Tour , this was when Hybrid theory was still their only album. Linkin Park, Stained, Static X, Deadsy, Powerman 5000, and Stone temple pilots
I love Staind and Static-X
0:15 Linkin Park, Slipknot, and Breaking Benjamin mostly from what I've noticed, but sometimes Korn, Three Days Grace (w/ Adam), Deftones, and Otep are other late 90s-early 2000s alt-metal bands that influence later metal bands.
This song is pretty much a trip down memory lane that is able to feel different. Makes me remember watching Meteora Live in Texas, over and over again with my older brother in a DVD and being amazed by the sheer stage presence of Chester and his energy.
Fond memories.
this song is SUPER strong. Especially love it because its bsically lyiing from you. LOVE those 5ths
I have been a big Linkin Park fan since the Meteora era, my family and I have been big fans. but I am not used to hearing other people speak positively of them... it is so nice to hear somebody else really enjoy their music ❤️
So thankful I got to see them live, one of my favourite bands of all time!
Background reversed vocals are actually Mike Shinoda's processed voice :D He said it in Howard Stern interview.
These reactions-analysis are super cool, please, do more of them! Song is outstanding as expected :D
been with them since Hybrid Theory. every one of these new releases just makes me so damn happy. This one has been my favorite so far
1000% dead on man. Glad you pointed out their influence on hard rock song writing in general. Their reach is vast.
Keep mixing your reactions up like this, it's awesome seeing how your brain processes the music with a guitar in your hands
the bridge is the best part. Melody is so on point
I'm not really a fan of LP but this riff goes so hard, they were so ahead of their time.
Not really a fan?🤢
Wdym not a fan? They're great
@@nytrobros.4810 Oh yeah they're awesome but I don't consider myself as a fan because I didn't listen to a lot of songs of 'em.
@@hinorii6437 I would recommend Faint, Crawling, Lying From You, Runaway, and Burn It Down.
@@nytrobros.4810 Burn it down was my favorite song for a while, it's a classic, thanks for the recommendation
I was listening to hybrid theory just today on the way to work and it hit me just how amazing it is that such an influential album to this day and 20 yrs later, every song still holds up and I honestly believe always will. Unless something incredibly drastic changes in music haha.
*breakdown senses tingling* 😂
It's impressive how you effortlessly just knew what to play!
I love this Linkin Park song and video. Really nostalgic. Almost comforting, their familiar sound.
Love how effortless you came to the song
1:02 yes, this is exactly my mood when Linkin Park kicks in
I hope the new LP line up will perform it live, Its so good.
I've had a similar experience however it was 2017 and my discovery started so close to Chester's death
Nothing and no one helped me how linkin park did ❤️
Kind of crazy how they released full albums, had the linkin park underground releases, and they still have songs from that era unreleased that are this high quality.
I was waiting for your reaction, thanks man. That was fun
I definitely love this way of reacting, watching you play over and talk about different musical choices etc is great. Keep it up! :)
I like playing along as you react. It's different and your perspective as a musician adds value to your reaction.
イントロがえぐい
ミックスされたチェスターの声の質感ガチで好きすぎる
Dig that, do it again! Guitars on reactions is always top tier!
The high-pitched ambient falsetto reminds me a lot of what Dance Gavin Dance did between songs on Tree City Sessions 2. Specifically for Man of the Year.
honestly my new lp favourite song; listening to chester's voice again made me cry
Without Linkin Park we literally wouldn't have the bands we have today
I like the whole jam/reaction concept you got going on Nik.
Oddly glad that this wasn't released until now so that I can hear something new that could have been a hit single back in the day
I love your channel, Nik! YOU ROCK!
These Coactions are the best. Keep it up Nic!
6:51 The thumbnail before Will's Chokehold is Mike in his studio. He is a demon inside his studios though, messing and fooling around with anything and everything he finds.
