This song was recorded for Linkin Park's Meteora album but was not released until this year, 20 years since the release of Meteora. The rap singer is Mike Shanoda and the rock singer is Chester Bennington. Chester ended his life battling depression in 2018 if I remember right. This and their other new release Lost are some of the best so far I've ever heard. You owe it to yourself to check out Lost too. Edit 2017

They also released Lost recently, which was slated to be on the Meteora album. It's crazy hearing new songs with Chester's vocals, but I'm here for it.
Looking at the album on apple it looks like they are about to release a lot of songs from back in the day. Definitely excited to hear music from that era again as new

It sounds exactly like the start of The Real Thing by Faith No More. Mike Bordin deserves the credit.
The amazing thing about this is is that in “making of Meteora” their drummer specifically mentions that he worked unbelievably hard to be improve his drumming for this album and it really shows
@@trenchy1990 If you’re implying that they lifted that part from FNM, I don’t think I can agree with that. The pattern is similar, which happens sometimes, but both songs have very different feels.

You definitely have to check out their song, Lost. Chester is so important to a lot of us. These new songs gives him back just for a little while and with what we know now, it just hits harder.
Linkin park was just way ahead of their time and still are. This will forever be my favourite band. I've been listening to them from the age of 9
RIP Chester. They brought back his voice to tell the world what he was going through before he died.
Many of their other songs show what he was going through as well. We just tend not to really listen.

What's interesting is that similar to the intro for Somewhere I Belong (which was Chester playing acoustic guitar), the vocal parts here are reversed and then edited in a way to make it make sense playing forward

This music as well as the first one called "Lost" came from Archives within Meteora album. They were not published, since they had the same sound as "Numb" and other songs.
That is why Mike decided to publish unreleased stuff for Meteora's anniversary. Just a lore)

Lost had me in tears, knowing the man who saved my life is gone (R.i.P) Chester. His vocal ability can and will never be matched. An absolute Legend. Edit: You said you like when there's rap in their song. One of my favorite LP songs is "All or nothing" ft Page Hamilton and definitely one of their most underrated songs, so there's a suggestion if you do more LP reactions.
The Hunting Party has some underrated rap verses, Keys To The Kingdom, All For Nothing and Wastelands in particular.
My takeaway is that you gotta stop fighting yourself. it isn't self-criticism that will make you thrive, it's self-compassion.

Some things to Know: Chester Benningtton passed away in july 2017, this song and Lost were extra songs from their 2003 album Meteora, these songs just didnt make the cut, either for sounding too much like other songs, or not flowing wiht the rest of the album.

If anyone hasn't checked out Grey Daze stuff do it. Chester's band before LP and they have remastered and released albums with Chester's original vocals from back in the day. Chester almost got the band back together and they were going to rerecord their old songs but sadly he passed before they could. They completed the project anyways. Good stuff!
