I just LOVE how there’s no ignorant hate comments under her videos! Just a bunch of curly girls learning great tips from a fellow curly girl and sharing their personal experiences with other curly girls!
I just started my CG journey after 15 years of heat, flat ironing daily. Your channel has been a great place for me. I don’t want to give up but see why people can. I have no idea what I am doing! Lol thank you so much 😊
Andria Pizzi you got this!!! We all feeling like we doing know what we are doing in the beginning. You are learning a new skill. That takes times! Dig in and get stubborn! You are worth it!
You're the coolest girl ever! I had "scrunched" my hair with mousse or gel in the past and learned about "diffusing" back in the day, and I even had decent results... but I came across your video the other day...Never hearing about CG or ANY of the terms before, you taught me, so I tried em. No special products, just squish-condished, plopped, and diffused.. UM....WHOA! ALL THINGS HOLY! Courtney, I feel like I've been to a slumber party with the in-crowd thanks to you! I'm instantly transformed!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney p.s. your Friday Night Live was SO AMAZING! You're so kind to take the time and answer all of our questions and concerns... it was like being there with you! I even felt welcomed and appreciated by all the other viewers! Cool experience.
Courtney - you apologized for us watching saying you are a dork. I have to say, you are NOT a dork. You are raw and real. You aren’t trying to impress or put on a fake show. And THAT is why we love you dearly. Thank you for being YOU ❤️
This is the most soothing hair video I’ve ever watched. You’re so pleasant! I really appreciate that you’re simply talking to the camera and now loudly talking and trying to make a show out of it. Thanks for the tips!
This video is so helpful! About 7 years ago I tried the CG method but gave up after a year because plopping gave me weird, geometric "curls" with right angles and straight edges and only six clumps on my head. Not cute. Today is the first time in seven years I've tried CG. I washed, squished to condish, wet plopped & micro plopped (both totally new to me), moussed & gelled (didn't know I could do both but I'm here for it) - and I have the best hair of my life. It needs work, and patience. And probably a curly trim. But holy moly, I never imagined one video would help me so much! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I have the same hair type! I never knew I did because I always brushed my hair out and straightened it. Until I noticed after the shower before I brushed it, it was wavy and kinda curly like 2a/b. I’m just now discovering what works for my hair and how to enhance my curls because I’m obsessed with them
Grace Neville Me too, I had years of brushing it, straightening it, dying and bleaching it. My hair was destroyed but slowly I’m getting my curls and waves back
@@kierasaurusfrost i also have 2b 2c i have medium porosity medium density but thin strands i use the not your mothers curl talk gel and cream tshirt plop for 5-10 mins air dry it works wonders!!
I think my biggest struggle so far trying to figure out when to part my hair. I did wet plopping and since my hair is insanely thin it dried super quick, and when I parted my hair I broke up a lot of the curl clumps and it came out super wonky. This is only my third day of CGM so I’m trying to figure out alllll of the tips and tricks cuz there’s so many! Thank you so much for Your videos! I’ve seen so many and yours are by far the most helpful!
Darby Blagg Maybe try brushing and parting your hair in the shower with the water running, and then don’t flip your head down when plopping, tie it up while keeping your head up....or even skip plopping and just do scrunching if your hair dries that fast...good luck
Courtney, i absolutely love your videos. you are so real and funny. watching your videos have encouraged me to start my own curly girl journey. At 47, a grandmother of 3 gorgeous little boys, i already feel my age, i dont want to look 57. i have fought my wavy/curly hair for years. now i am embracing it. i battle frizz more than anything. but, following you lately has given me hope that i can tame the frizz and set my curls free!! 😊🍀💕💗💓💞🍀😊

I think that it was one of your other videos that helped me decide to give cgm a try so thank you! I have always hated my curly hair and dreamed of having straight hair but I think it's time to embrace my curles!
Swavy Curly Courtney you're so welcome!! i tried it for the first time yesterday (the t-shirt method) and it worked really well! i have around chin-length 2a/2b wavy hair and since it's so short, it tends to stick out a lot which can be incredibly frustrating lol so then even after it was dry, i put it back up into the t-shirt later on before bed and the results are veryyyy good, i'm impressed!!!!!
I've ALWAYS done the T-shirt plopping and never watched to the point of you saying "it's better for longer hair" I've struggled so much with it just flattening my hair but I am DEFINITELY going to try wet plopping with a shower cap for my next wash day! Thank you!!
I have 3a curls at the base of my head, they are a completely different texture from the rest of my hair. If the humidity is perfect and my hair is well moisturized, sometimes I can get random curls that are visible, or if it’s tied half up and less heavy, but usually my hair is slightly wavy and straightens throughout the day. I have fine hair and tons of it. If it’s too heavy with product or length it straightens more. I never know what to do with it.
I just tried micro plopping for the first time and I can’t wait to see the results!! I can 100% see how the water ends up weighing down my curls because my gosh the difference after micro plopping is HUGE even though my hair is still wet!!! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Yesterday was my first co wash and today, for the first time in my life, I can be seen in public with my hair down!!! No frizz, my natural curles! I know that it takes months, but I am already very 😊! I believe that I have a mixture of 3a, 3b, 3c and 4a!😂 I guess my hair is as indecisive as I am 😂
I have pretty much watched every single one of your videos the last few days and I’m ready to retry this curly girl method. Currently plopping my hair!
I just came across your channel the other day and am watching every video. I am just starting this method with my super long 2A/2B hair. Before this method I only washed my hair once a week and flat ironed in between or wore my long hair in a braid. My question is how do you refresh your hair for day 2 and so on until you are ready to wash again?
I tried wet plopping last week for the first time in my hair and it worked really well! I just didn't know the name nor remembered how to properly wrap the t-shirt round my head so... thanks!!
I noticed that because I am high porosity with fine hair and low density, I’d rather not microplop because it dries my hair so quickly. Thanks for the tip on the shower cap. I will try it.
Many thanks. I am new to this and still trying to figure everything out. I’m a wavy girl too so yeah!! I need all the help I can get from another wavy girl!
You are so funny! Not to mention all the amazing hair tips (I'm just starting out with the CG method). But I get a solid laugh out loud moment with each video! You have the best attitude about everything. That t-shirt plop is a look girl!
I’m a Swavy curly Courtney as well :) I always just T-shirt plop but I will definitely try these other two methods as I have basically the exact same curl pattern, density, porosity and length of hair as you :)
I am so........ thankful to your videos, I have been on this journey for about a year and with your help I think I am finally figuring out my hair, LOL
Thank you!! Gonna try wet plopping. I’ve not heard of it until now. We have the same hair type, and I’m happy with my hair but the wet plopping? I’m going to try next wash day.
Hello Courtney! I am in my transitioning period and I must admit your methods really worked for me. Not a pro yet but I'm surely progressing. Have you tried plopping your hair into a net hair cap? Or would you try to make a video on it please? Thanks so much for your videos so far 😊😊
I"m afraid if I micro-plop after I add the styling products that I will scrunch those products out. I struggle with frizz and limp curls. Would love to work my 2a-c hair into a 3a consistently... maybe I need to accept my waves.
I have wavy hair and sometimes it turns out best when I just comb it and let it air dry. But it has a mind of its own so I never know for sure how it’s going to dry. I’m trying out plopping more but have had mixed results.
@Caramel Cupcake thanks I’ll try that. I plopped with just gel used quite a bit and my hair was less frizzy. Next time I’ll try just combing the gel through but not scrunching much or plopping. My hair will take way longer than 5 mins to dry tho 😞
This was really helpful! I recently found your channel and have been binge-watching your videos as I prepare to start the curly girl method. Your videos have been super helpful, since my hair is similar to yours (I think I'm low-medium porosity, fine-medium strands, and very high density) and I'm really enjoying your personality and when you get science-y. 🤓 Thanks!

Wondering how I will ever be able to say the word ' plopping' without cringing lol! I'm loving the curly hair journey but some of the lingo ... I don't think I'm Mature enough to ever just say some of the words without giggling and cringing ;p
If you use too much product doesn’t it weigh your hair down? Like my curls only come out if I have minimal product and not brush my hair but if I put any kind of gel or a little too much oil, my hair is straight and upsetti spaghetti
Same. If i put any products in my hair, I dries frizzy straight no matter what. If i leave off the product and plop with a t-shirt it dries with curls.
your products may be too heavy, try looking up some brands that are lightweight, instead of a gel or mousse maybe a leave in oil or something that won't weigh your curls down
Cool dt my comment is abt d pup & d commentor just below also & d only other pup comment was d 4th! My comment: i think dt pup may b really bright! It may hv come by to check out wt was going on & maybe for company & realized u were videoing bcs seems it saw d camera. After it left it waited a moment as if to see if u may hv noticed it & were going to say something abt it or to it or to give u a cgance to notice. Sooo well behaved bcs either trained or just very considerate &/or mindful of being good company. That or it dosnt like hair product. Anyway, ur video was a delight bcs of u & d pup was a nice extra
Marisa Gill if you are squishing your conditioner out as you rinse it out, your hair shouldn’t be super slicked back. You can flip your hair upside down as you rinse it out and then yes, GENTLY shake out your roots if need, preferably while putting your leave-in conditioner or whatever your first after-shower product is 🙂
My hair is the same as yours when wet but when it dries it turns into 2a waves lol thanks for the great ideas about plopping I’m new to all this at 60 years old I’ve just realised I actually do have wavy hair and love to leave it natural without any heat or tongs on it
My hair struggle is mainly weigh down instead of frizz as well (and i also live in humid texas as well) .... if you cut more layers into your hair you can fight that humid weigh down a little easier!! Any recommendations for a heavy protein no or low glycerin leave in conditioner for us uber fine haired texas girls?? Preferably reasonably affordable .... 🤗😘😍
How do I know when it's best to wash? I washed yesterday but as always, my second day hair doesn't have my 2a-2b pattern and is dry. Should I just wash everyday instead? Or will that damage my hair? (I used to wash my hair everyday, but I stopped. I'm not sure if that was an improvement or not)
If you style with a denman brush, can you wet plop after that? My biggest issue with plopping has been that my curls look inconsistent. The denman has helped the curl pattern, but the idea of getting dressed without my hair dripping all over has appeal to me.
Can you blow dry over a plop? I’ve seen some videos saying you can blow dry on HEAT while your hair is in a plop! That seems wrong to me... but curious
You are so sweet, funny, and genuine. Your voice is really soothing too haha. Now I can’t stop watching your videos. Thank you for all your tips!

Same. If i put any products in my hair, I dries frizzy straight no matter what. If i leave off the product and plop with a t-shirt it dries with curls.
May be it's a protein moisture imbalance
your products may be too heavy, try looking up some brands that are lightweight, instead of a gel or mousse maybe a leave in oil or something that won't weigh your curls down
0:01 - 3:10 Wet plopping
3:10 - 5:05 T-Shirt plopping (long hair has better results thats short hair)
5:05 - 7:50 Micro plopping
Finally I got how to do it with t-shirt!! Thanks a lot))
Silly question but what do you do as soon as you get out of the shower and your hair is slicked back wet? Just shake it out?
Marisa Gill if you are squishing your conditioner out as you rinse it out, your hair shouldn’t be super slicked back. You can flip your hair upside down as you rinse it out and then yes, GENTLY shake out your roots if need, preferably while putting your leave-in conditioner or whatever your first after-shower product is 🙂
Love your videos. I'm new to the curly girl method. Can you plop your day 1 dry hair at bedtime?
Do you add products after this step or before?
I am new to this. So I would like to know doesn't scrunching at the end remove your gel cast? Xx
You look Like a pink Yoda with that shirt on your head 🖤
My hair is the same as yours when wet but when it dries it turns into 2a waves lol thanks for the great ideas about plopping I’m new to all this at 60 years old I’ve just realised I actually do have wavy hair and love to leave it natural without any heat or tongs on it
OMG I do micro plopping! Who knew it had a name lol
I love your puppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Kimmy Gibbler awww thank you!!! We love him. He is a very very good boy!
I LOVE your videos!!! Super helpful!!!!
Have you ever plopped with a hair net? Would that support curls while letting air dry your hair?
Lisa Sobel-Berlow It’s extremely hard to do and it makes them kind of flat
so when i’m in the shower to i put my products in there and then put the cap on?
im in love with her humour omg😂😭
I’m am such a newb. THANK YOU for this!!!
I absolutely love how goofy you are and all your sarcastic comments lol so me
How do I know when it's best to wash? I washed yesterday but as always, my second day hair doesn't have my 2a-2b pattern and is dry. Should I just wash everyday instead? Or will that damage my hair? (I used to wash my hair everyday, but I stopped. I'm not sure if that was an improvement or not)
I read to use a spray bottle with water and conditioner mix and spray it down and scrunch
@@OChops2013 thanks for the suggestion!
If you style with a denman brush, can you wet plop after that? My biggest issue with plopping has been that my curls look inconsistent. The denman has helped the curl pattern, but the idea of getting dressed without my hair dripping all over has appeal to me.
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Jenn Hoff Yeay! I’m so glad!!!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney I'm glad, too! And so is everyone who has to look at me! ;)
This is so helpful! Thank you for sharing. ❤🌺
I love your humour 🥺😅
Can you blow dry over a plop? I’ve seen some videos saying you can blow dry on HEAT while your hair is in a plop! That seems wrong to me... but curious
This was so helpful to me!! Thank you so much! ♥️
Use pantyhose! Plop in the waistband, wrap the legs around your head, and tie. So easy and comfy. I use fishnet for this.
New wavy person here..following all these steps but ending up semi-frizzy..any ideas?
Do u use gel
Yamina Lea I just started and it did help! How often should I be washing? I don’t really end up too greasy so should I try to go as long as I can?
@@lindseybertke7999 I would say try to keep up the wash routine that you used to and then figure out what feels best for u!
Yamina Lea thank you!!
Thank u so much😊
And i love your personality💖
