I hated root clipping; it always pulled my hair out. I tried the Aubonacci, but sometimes, my hair wouldn't hold the volume. Then I saw a short video on Facebook where a girl used a claw clip to add volume to the root. I decided to combine both methods. I let my hair get partially dry, then used the Aubonacci, and then immediately used the claw clip and allowed my hair to dry the rest of the way. The results are astounding to my fine, wavy hair.
Thanks for the tip about micro plopping with a damp part of the towel! My fine curls trend to stretch with too much water when diffusing but get stringy with too little. Can't wait to play on my next wash day! I wonder if I could play with the idea on refresh days 🤔 ❤
I do too, and it works great! I was thinking about getting this tool, cause I'm a gadget junkie. 😅 But I don't think it would give as good results as the pick comb 🎉
That's an interesting little tool. I think I'll get one and give it a try on my fine, wavy/curly hair. I struggle with volume so I'm always looking for new things to help. Thank you for always being so helpful and fun to watch ❤
Call me crazy but I'd try putting that root tool in from the back. Then you shouldn't get that ridge in the front. It might not be enough volume in the front but it probably would be in the back.
I feel like this tool would be great for days when I air dry. It would give some lift to the roots and keep it from flopping in my face while it’s drying.
I've had more luck with using the Curlsmith diffuser and just pushing it up on my head. And using less gel near my roots. I never had luck with those awful metal clips either.
I'm going to try it on my back of my head were my cowlick is and use the other one for my root lift as you get 2 in a pack just got mine today from amazon in the UK going to give it a go tomorrow when I wash my hair wish me luck worrying if it gets stuck in my hair 😂
Those root clips get stuck in my hair too, its awful. Maybe if someone has super soft hair its less so. Thanks for this video, love your uplifting videos and incredible attitude ❤
I watched this video and last washday I thought maybe a regular hair comb will do the same and it did! Just enough lift for me as I don’t really want a mega lift. Anyhoo way cheaper than buying an additional tool.
I got 1 of these from Temu much cheaper. I have been playing with it. I use it after applying all my products. I place it on both sides of my natural part, then diffuse my hair. Definitely adds volume.
Yeah it does work u can see considerable amount of volume babe. I think root clips only work for me when I'm airdrying. I put them in at night ❤and wake up and see alot of volume....dont care when people say u should not go sleep with wet hair. It works for me. When I blow-dry My hair i wouldn't do clips..that is wen I would put volume mousse in my hair. Like the umberto giavanni volume foam. Does anyone have any other suggestion for a good volume mousse or foam that gives great volume?? Sometimes it can make my hair slightly frizzy. Really enjoyed the video God bless

That is so smart! I love how you combined those two techniques!
love it ! extra volume really suits you. Yay !

I think you're on to something with that tool ❤ Way better price point than the other volume tool, as well. Love your hair! Fabulous, as always 😊
You're so sweet, thank you!
I've been doing something similar with a pick comb, holding it a half inch above my scalp as I diffuse. I dry ends for a while before using the comb.

I do this also! Works great all around the crown.
Ditto. Works best with a pic with extra long, metal teeth. Also works great to lift clumps off the scalp and manage mild cowlicks.
@ I saw the one with extra long metal teeth on Amazon. Thanks for mentioning it works for you. 😊

I’m so glad you find my videos helpful!
In the 80's, a pal from England (in college) told me they used coconut scented shaving cream. Boy were they onto something! The best mousse!

Oooooo I bet you are right!!! Now I want to try it that way 😆
Cosmetic World in Toronto has the tool the Avanacci tool was based on for a lot less!

Interesting!! I wonder if it would work on the back of my head/crown where my cowlick is awful?! Thanks for sharing!!❤
That's where my brain went too! The struggle with that cowlick will be the death of me!.

Those metal clips get stuck in my hair too! Don’t feel bad, Courtney!

Thanks for sharing! ❤ Just wondering if you gave ever tried the Umberto giannini range?
What hair dryer do you use?
I love clips, I will say they need to be removed slowly or yes hair can get ripped out 🥺
Where can I buy the volumizer tool?
I thought I was the only curly who failed at root clipping!
Nope, it's definitely a common problem. I gave up on root clipping a long time ago. lol
I feel like root volume is over hyped.
Do you close after putting in or open it when it's in?
It closes up on its own. There’s a spring in it that helps it snap shut.
Could you not do this with a pick?
I’m sure you could, but it’s kind of nice that this stays in the hair without me having to hold it.
Sure, I do it with my fingers, but not having to hold my arm up would be great!
Nah, I like the no volume on you. Fits your head better
🩷
I just don't understand the fascination with root volume! I remember '80's sky high hair and bangs😂I stay away from trends!
Ecactly!
We're not aiming for the '80s volume, just a little lift. I was an '80s teen, so I know exactly what you mean. 😂
@Katatawnic 😆😂🤣I think that's why I just can't do it! Too many memories😂
