The Covenant had drives that were accurate to within the diameter of an atom. They have the technology pull off the Thrawn pincer without issue.
I don't think the covenant had interdiction technology though

@@theblueplague7164 Interdiction is possible with slipspace but it's much more difficult than with Star Wars hyperdrives. The Flood managed it by "overloading" subspace with heavy slipspace travel to the point it couldn't "heal" fast enough (a process referred to as reconciliation in universe, basically spacetime returning to normal). The Forerunners didn't do it as often but they did have the technology for it, and we know the Sangheili eventually got it at some point as they had a ship design capable of the feat as well.
I agree, I can even argue it would be more effective at the hands of the UNSC (post-war) or Covenant as they both utilize highly advanced AI.

Covenant routinely did pinpoint slip space jumps. Even their smallest Corvettes could do so. The Thrawn pincer could easily be done by Covenant ships.

Wendy and Mike Terell you do know that the thrawn pincer was created by a author that would be no where near as smart as covenant generals/shipmasters, right? The covenant would be forced to be more tactical in a war against the vong compared to the UNSC because their tech won’t always be able to brute force its way past defenses.the covies have great leaders and probably would pull off a similar move.

@@wendyandmiketerell997 I hate this argument. I always have and always will. Thrawn was not perfect, contrary to whatever opinions the original author has voiced regarding him. At the end of the day he's only as clever or intelligent as the writers who have controlled him in any given story he's been involved with, and to claim outright that he's perfect or cannot be beaten by conventional means "no matter what" starts to blatantly edge on Mary Sue/Gary Stu territory. He was not a god, end of story, and it's one of the reasons I much prefer his new canon incarnation over his Legends version. He can fail and can make mistakes, but unlike with most Imperials they're completely reasonable ones - typically it happens when he's forced to trust underlings who are more traditional Imperial officers or when something he couldn't have possibly accounted for comes into the equation. His strength lies in his ability to prepare, and the reason we don't see him lose often in current canon lore isn't because he's some military god - it's because he avoids getting into a fight before he's ready and able to win.
Within the context of Star Wars? The man's undoubtedly a genius, mostly because he was willing to experiment with strategies, tactics and technology that had been largely accepted as is within the setting to produce new things. Star Wars as a setting has generally had big problems with technology stagnating for thousands of years at a time with only incremental improvements, and the reason Thrawn was a threat in that regard was the same reason Thel 'Vadamee was in Halo - both thought outside the box and, most importantly, defied the expectations and status quo within their respective factions.
End of the day he was just a man, and men are fallible. It doesn't matter how smart they are, they don't know everything and they can and will make mistakes. Chances are that out of all the millions of people on the other side there's also someone just as smart as he is.
Will the covenant have the arbiter? His unorthodox strategies made him a hell for humanity. Do you think his strategies would be troublesome to the Vong?

About that precision of Slipspace jump question. I'd say that the covenant were more than capable of performing Thrawn style pincer attacks, at least technically.
During the actual fall of reach in the novel, when a ship in one of the stations transmits a distress call (I forget the name), a covenant cruiser comes out of Slipspace close enough for troops to deploy via shuttles and jetpacks. As this was for the express purpose of assaulting that station and not the UNSC's orbiting fleet, I'd say they can jump extremely precisely... when they want to that is.

The UNSC probably wins on all fronts, but it depends a lot on the time frame as wartime and postwar UNSC is very different. Early Covenant war, it is larger, much more militarized, and has crazy production capacity compared to the Alliance. The UNSC would outnumber the Alliance 10 to 1 in space and probably over 100 to 1 on the ground. That said, it´s technologically inferior in a lot of ways because of ME's Eezo based tech, but even the UNSC's its smaller ships can still take down anything in ME with a single MAC round. The problem for the UNSC is that the Alliance is more maneuverable due to their space magic Eezo cores. In a shooting fight, that allows them to avoid fire much more effectively.
Postwar UNSC is much smaller but more technologically advanced. Ships like the Infinity will be very hard for Mass Effect to do anything against. Its fleet would still outnumber The Alliance´s by about 1.5 or 2 to 1

Systems Alliance gets curb stomped on all fronts. The UNSC barely breaks a sweat and can probably count the number of ships it loses on one hand. I love both but ME is massively underpowered compared to many other sci-fi universes.

no. lol, let me explain.
1. they both govern very differently with the UNSC as a military part of the government that takes control in times of war. The UNSC makes things like ONI have unlimited power to do whatever the fuck they want, and they put science, results, and the greater good before things like ethics and "right and wrong." The UNSC would more than likely want complete control over the systems alliance, and by definition the systems alliance has aliens in it, and Humans are 100% not the most numerous species in mass effect. Also the UNSC doesn't like being subservient to aliens, and the general public of the UNSC hates aliens....so yah.
ODSTs vs N7: N7 wins, hands down. N6 Marines are a closer analogy to ODSTs, and even they're probably better, what with their specializations. N7s are a whole tier above, almost Specter-quality by standard, which is why N7 Marines were the first human Specter candidates.
UNSC Marines vs. System Alliance Marines: this is a closer matchup, and would probably come down to individual squads, but I'd give this one to the UNSC. The Alliance military is more of a peacekeeping force (aside from their special forces), and that is reflected in their operational doctrine. The UNSC on the other hand has always been highly militarized.

I think if the Vong suddenly invaded the Covenant that Elite leaders would request or demand that the Prophets offer humanity a position within the Covenant so that they would have even more reserves of manpower to draw upon. But as you showed, the game was rigged from the start for the Vong, good video!

Depends. A brute could probably relatively easy stomp a basic boy, but the balance rather quickly turns in favour of the orks after that. Nobz completely wreck any Brute except maybe the most skilled of chieftains.
@@marcustulliuscicero5443 A single basic Brute would probably be able to beat a single basic Boy yes, but not stomp in a hand to hand situation, but Orks literally use their own belief that things will work to make all their tech work, so it is unlikely that in any other situation the Brutes will have a far harder time. The Brutes will probably be able to defeat a force of Orks about 1000 strong though the victory will most likely be pyrrhic (a win with enough losses that it may as well be a loss) that is also assuming no Weirdboyz or Warbosses.

I don't know why everyone sucks the orks of for doing this, it just makes it so they have basic weapons and basic vehicles, it's nothing all that impressive, in fact it's detrimental to their cause. For example, Orks beliefs effect their enemies too meaning that every single fucking Brute is going to be going insanely fast because they all wear red, so yah good job orks, and if it's Banished then everyones running like a mthrfckr.

It is amazing how polarizing this sometimes is. It's almost always "The Vong would steamroll those pu$$y Trekkers!" or "The Undine would crush the Vong STAR WARS SUX!" Very little middle ground. Personally, I do believe the Undine would win, but I would like to see an analysis and I don't think it would be particularly easy.
Well, the reason why I pick 8472 is because they seem like the vong, but with much more powerful weapons. They were literally able to destroy planets with just a few ships
@@Dr.Pootis and to add it only takes one 8472 cell to kill another organic being. Take that to one worldship and one 8472 ship.
You forget that the Vong used Ooglith masquers to impersonate Ssi Ruuk convincingly in the Force Heretic trilogy. So Masquers can be tailored to encase a Vong while mimicking non humanoid species. They simply grow diverse ones. So a Brute or Elite masquer is possible. Plus they don't have to impersonate a prophet so much as manipulate lesser ones in power struggles like they did against the Imperial Ruling Council

Sugestion: in all your vs matches the flood are undefeated. You should do "what faction from any scifi universe could defeat or survive the flood."
The best bet would be the Geth from Mass Effect. Unlike the borg, the Geth don't have any biological component to corrupt. Not to mention that even before the reaper upgrades Geth communicate and share information in fractions of a second. Lastly, with the sheer crampedness of most Geth ships and the fact that the ships themselves are geth, a flood spore couldn't sneak aboard to sneak to other planets. The only possible way I could think of them losing is if we were talking about Geth/Quarian alliance where the flood could grow stronger off the Quarian half

Lets be real fam, if the foe is organic, Eckhart will just say the Flood will consume them, and if the foe is inorganic (aka Robots or other machines), then Eckhart will just say the Flood will use the logic plague and corrupt them, it's sad but it's true, he has a major bias towards the Flood, it's just way too obvious at this point,

@@sidonex726 it won't survive the first shot. Necrons gauss weapons tear atoms apart and leave nothing behind. They kill on the molecular level, meaning your armor does not matter. Even the basic gauss flayers cut right through tank armor

The covenants tactics are absolutely perfect for beating the vong. Move quick, attack, and glass the planets to prevent them taking hold.

Anime mechs generally get by with a lot of BS that would inhibit normal universes. Gundams would be clearly superior to any ground vehicle either the Covenant or Imperials would have.

I've been watching several of your older versus videos and been comparing them with your more recently produced ones. There is a significant difference in quality and depth between the two, not only that, but what the thought into the restrictions, situations and circumstances which they are engaging and coming from really creates interesting scenarios.

Psykers generally have more powerful psychic abilities, but if the Force User had a Light Saber, it would depend on who is fighting who,

@@Bigweave74 If we are going from Top Psykers compared to Top Force Users, then probably yeah, although I can imagine that the Celestials and Abeloth could hold their own against some pretty powerful Psykers, although the Warp is definitely more powerful than the Force, or at least more easy to use in a destructive manner, not that the Force can't be used for destruction also,
Average Spacemarine Psykers would probably stomp the average force user who has minimal experience. Average Jedi and Sith would be more of a challenge but I think that the Psyker would still win in the end. The more skilled and experienced force users would pose a reasonable threat with a reasonably good chance of beating the Psyker. Non-orthodox powers and fighting styles on the force's side would not play a big factor as Spacemarine Scouts have enough mental strength to not let something unusual bother them. Notable Jedi, Sith and other, not celestial and the like, force uses would have a far greater chance and the fight would likely be 50/50. More powerful beings in the Star Wars galaxy would be able to defeat the average Spacemarine Pysker, with notable Psykers having a better chance of victory. Weirdboyz would be anything from less effective to more effective than Spacemarine Psykers depending on the amount of Boyz around them, average Eldar would be equivalent to notable Spacemarine Pyskers, Nids are Nids it is hard to compare them with force-users, Chaos would stomp because all Pysker abilities come from the warp and that is the Chaos' God's domain and the God Emporer would STOMP.
Psykers wins hands down they have much more powerful and devastating abilities than even the strongest and most experienced force-users

It's interesting that the covenant's greatest flaw in Halo (their single mindedness) become their greatest asset in a slightly different situation.
In general, do you find overwhelming relentless force to be a worthwhile tactic, or is it's application in today's video simply a fluke?
Well really the use of overwhelming forces effectiveness all depends on the circumstance and more importantly the ultimate goals of the people using that force right?
So I'm guessing the infiltrators are able to look like Covenant soldiers I'm guessing? I don't know but I don't think that would work with brutes around

Yes. The species of the Covenant made it clear they can even smell each other out. That's canon in the games.
These VS's are pretty cool and interesting. But why not spice it up and throw them into a more chaotic scenario. For example, what would of happened if the Yuuzhan Vong arrived in the Star Wars Galaxy in the age of the old Republic? What would of happened if they showed up during the Mandalorian War or when Revan was a Sith and in control of the Star forge? Or Revans Faction when he was a Sith with the Star forge against the Covenant or UNFC or The army of the Manalorian War vs the Clone army.

Francis Vigoreaux the elites are swift. They’ve had trouble from the inside before between 2 warring species just having one would be easier.
No way. The Covenant worship the technology of the Forerunners. The Vong see any technology that isn't organic to be an abomination, and they have terrible impulse control. It would be an instantaneous holy war.
Even if they could they'd get nowhere with that. Covenant society is a caste based one, and typically speaking new species start at the bottom of the ladder either as slaves or just one step short of it. It was one of the big reasons the Brutes and Elites were causing friction inside the Covenant - the Brutes only joined roughly 100 years before the Halo games and within that time they've suddenly climbed the ladder to stand almost side by side with the Elites. If you've played Mass Effect at all it's the same reason a lot of the species within that setting aren't overly fond of humanity. The Volus and Elcor had been waiting literally centuries to get a seat on the Citadel Council and then you've suddenly got this new kid on the block demanding the same after only 30 years.

So, for once I happen to know a bit more about Halo and think I can help answer the question on if the Thrawn Pincer could be used with slipspace. In one of the Halo books (I believe it's Halo: First Strike or Ghosts of Onyx), Master Chief and Cortana manage to steal a Covenant ship hold it's A.I. captive. As far as slipspace goes, the book makes a couple of things clear.
1) The Covenant's slipspace technology gives them an advantage because they are able to make jumps and stay in formation. To me, this sounds accurate enough to pull off a Thrawn Pincer attack
2) At first, neither the UNSC or the Covenant had the technology to jump into slipspace if there was a significant gravity field nearby. Cortona however is able to reverse engineer and improve Covenant technology to allow both factions to make the necessary adjustments.

Considering that a Yuuzhan Vong warrior was able to pass as a Ssi-Ruuvi general, I wouldn't underestimate Vong ability to infiltrate non-humanoid races ;)
I have to largely agree with your assessment here, having no religious stake in countering the Vong's invasion I think the Hierarchs would consider the war with them to be more of cleaning up a nuisance rather than exterminating heretics, and could burn away most of their problems under a tide of plasma.

Adeptas Mechanicum vs The Separatist
I would like to give this to the Covenant off the bat, considering slipspace is more effective than hyperspace, and the covenant’s technology is built off of later Forerunner technology, which was made to combat the flood. The reason this matters is because Yuuzhan Vong ships are biological, along with the rest of their technology. The Covenant also has an advantage the Yuuzhan Vong doesn’t, that being the ability to settle a planet. The Yuuzhan Vong is a race far to violent to settle a planet for a significant amount of time. Speaking of planets, even there is a planet with a large Vong presence, the Covenant can do what they’ve always done, and just glassed it. Because the war would be based upon survival of the Covenant, there’d be none of that Great Schism stuff, because the prophets would likely live. The only advantage I can think of giving the Vong is the familiarity they have with their own technology, and the advantage that might give them in space combat. The Covenant proved to be a powerful opponent in space, so powerful that the only time the UNSC won a decisive victory over them was on the ground, or at least against smaller ships. The largest fleet the UNSC had could barely hold off a fleet that the Covenant would consider small. The Reach fleet, under the command of Thel Vadaam, would make amazing strides against the Vong fleet, not to mention the High Charity fleet. If all else happens to fail, the Covenant’s retreat will eventually lead them to a ring, and the Covenant being the Covenant, they will activate it.
Hyperspace is faster than Covie Slipspace.
The only advantage Covie Slipspace has is the ability to jump in a solar system to another part of that solar system.
Oh, and the Vong would have to map out the Galaxy before they can use hyperspace.

I love the glassing tactic, I love the covenant for it, I love that it is Completely overkill and how methodically done it is, this screws with Vong cause it's scorched earth doctrine too as Eck noted.
On another note Needlers and Needle rifles would be OVERWHELMINGLY effective with the supercombine properties, not to mention the vampire air superiority fighter Needle cannon adds that to space combat.
Covvie Carbines have the added bonus of firing radioactive munitions, meaning more logistic work for Vong with maintaining proper biological function of troops exposed to it.
Anti Matter bombs still work.
Frickin Jackel Snipers, let's remember Vong are pretty Melee, Not sure I need to say more.
Brutes are likely comparable in strength to a warrior if not more, so Vong is potentially equal opponents or just walking meat walnuts to them cause they're savages.
(Jackels are also Bottom Feeders) so Vong is not off the dinner table, therefore less logistical wear on such forces.

If he was restricted to only one, I think he would choose the Y-wing Bomber due to the Empire's reliance on Star Destroyers, and the capital ship would probably be the Venator, since it has decent combat abilities on it's own, can carry plenty of said Y-Wings, and isn't slow like the Lucherhulk

I would choose the Subjugator and the K-Wing. Shoot the massive ion cannon, and then have the K Wings slash the Star Destroyers.
I'm personally leaning towards the B-Wing and some kind of light cruiser. Without point defenses I think B-Wings would be devastating to Star Destroyers and the cruiser would be there to take care of the ties. I can't think of a ship that fits... Something smaller than a Victory and larger than a Raider... Feel likes there's some ship that fits that range and role but I can't think of it...

That said, I think you forgot to address the matter of how the Vong used their biotech to engineer new counters to their enemies - the Voxyn, for example, or the elite warriors they made to fight the Jedi. That said, I think that it wouldn't change that much. The Covenant still has an advantage, and since they're not going to dawdle on the attack, the Vong wouldn't have time to engineer a lot of counters.

@@Miper45 ok what terran are you talking about? Terran are the humans, we are talking about the protoss. The protoss are more advanced than the galactic empire from what I have seen. The star wars universe is based off old technology at best the 70s or 80s. A full powered turbo laser is considered as strong as the atomic bomb per shot. Considering orbital bombardments from what we see and are told, it matches quite well for the original movies. The first order more technologically advanced yes. Doesn't seem to be by too much. I'd say however their destroyer full power turbo is probably a good 10 or 20 atomic bombs in full power though we have 0 real idea. From what we have seen there more like most shots are maybe 2-3 atomic bombs worth of power per full power shot. This has been gone over multiple times. The EU universe is not only non cannon still which is really sad as it had some amazing lore and such. But the whole gigatons worth of power is impossible as one shot is far above more than needed to destroy any planet surface in one shot. The UNSC MAC on the infinity the math was actually done since you can actually figure out the strength of one shot. A mac shot at 4% the speed of light, you can do the math. It was considered 10s of gigatons of force for the 3000 ton slug. Pretty sure it was the 3000 ton slug and not the 600 ton. Which would be correct mathematically but, the 3000 ton slug is shot at 6-8% the speed of light. The Infinity is shot at 8% the speed of light with consistent fire. 12% full power though the 12% is not confirmed entirely. As for the protoss ships, its much different when you take something like a plasma lance or whatever energy they use for weapons. I don't think its the psionic energy but it could be. Which both do exist. They function much differently than a turbo laser which doesn't and cannot function in real life. So I would go with each turbo laser shot is in reality in how they function seems more like a solid projectile that becomes so hot it warps inside its magnetic field to the shape of the bolt we see. Though obviously in cannon they explain what the bolts are made of which again cannot even work in real life but its still neat to see nonetheless. So you could probably use plasma instead but turbo bolts function much differently and more like a slug round.

The Asari Republics, the Salarian Union, the Turian Hierarchy, (possibly the Batarian Hegemony) the Hanar Illuminated Primacy (which includes the Drell) the Vol Protectorate and the Elcor Courts. Plus the Krogan and Vorcha mercs they could hire.
Also, I imagine the Migrant Fleet would want to help out to prevent their own extinction, and the same story with the Geth. Perhaps even the Rachni, depending on the time period and weather or not you saved the Queen in the third game.
And let’s not underestimate Mass Effect-based technology. Incinerary rounds, and, my personal favorite, biotics.

Im not sure as well about the thrawn pincer question, but i think i remember that in the Tech Levels of the Halo Universe somerwhere in between 3-1 there is the condition for the civilization to be able to perform hyper precise Slipspace jumps. So yes the forerunners would definetly be able to make use of such a maneuver and even the post Covenant war humans are probably.

SkyNet may not travel back in time and just constantly give pre-Flood War SkyNet better and better stuff and information,
If SkyNet can survive until Scenario 1c then I personally say that it would win, although if that is not enough each scenario could in fact be a wave that SkyNet has to destroy, which would make 35 High Charity's in total, and each wave would come a week after the wave before it was totally destroyed, giving SkyNet the chance to regroup and analyze whatever data it received from the battle, whether it be more efficient ways to kill Flood Forms or even gathering and using/reverse engineering Covenant Technology for its own use,

Actually, the Covenant slipspace technology is pretty accurate. Their margin of error was within the diameter of an atom. Coz of this, Cortana was able to calculate a slipspace jump into the atmosphere of a planet using the captured Covenant vessel Ascendant Justice. The calculations to do so were later obtained by the Covenant and was used later on when they made a slipspace jump right into Earth's atmosphere.
Could you possibly mention a few xenos 40k factions, rather than just using imperium (space marines and imperial guard), nids and chaos. Genestealer cults, orks, eldar, tau, necrons, all very flavourful and unique factions that could fit into many match ups.

There is a quote in one of the older books saying that Covenant ships (or something or the other) had slip accuracy to within the diameter of an atom or something along those lines. Can't remember which book, it's been a while. Would definitely mean they could do those maneuvers, and it is stated in the updated Fall of Reach that it is a capability that fleet commanders need to keep in mind so that they don't overextend when defending a planet or key volume of space.

What Scale? Because the Thing is basically its own independent organism from all other Things, where as the Flood is one central Hive Mind, so I think the higher the scale, the more in the Floods favor it is,
It's hard to tell, the thing may seem like different organisms, but it's one central entity acting towards one goal. The thing doesn't really get much expansion, we don't know if the one that crashed in Antarctica is the one, the center of it all, or just one assimilated offshoot out of millions.

Each thing does act independently, but it's in coordination with all other things to the central goal of assimilation. From what I've seen and read this seems to be the case but is never explained as clearly as the flood is. I think it's an interesting matchup, if the flood has space faring capabilities while the thing doesn't, they can just glass a planet where the thing is, though I can see this happening the opposite way as well. To me it seems like the floods best adversary yet.
I dont think the Vong have many answers to some of the bigger covenant ships. CAS and CSO class ships carry so much firepower that I dont think the dovin basals would make any kind of real difference. Not to mention that lances move at the speed of light and WAY outrange anything from the starwars universe...I just dont see the Vong fairing well against large covenant fleets.
can you do sr2 Normandy vs millennium falcon, generation tech did this vs but were straight up bias towards star wars and did the battle with little tactical thought, their bias towards star wars is not hidden, with them saying like how the falcon's shields are as strong as 3 star destroyer shields and can survive a blast from the destiny ascension's main cannon, they lost credibility in my eye when they said that and now I look to you for a fair unbiased vs between the millennium falcon and sr2 normandy.

I was thinking the same thing. In the Halo 4 terminals it shows that the flood have trouble against the Prometheans and I feel like a faroh machine is deadlier from a fire power perspective.
I have two ideas to request. One I've mentioned a few times in different variations.

I think because the Vong infultrators won't be able to progress up the ranks or cause problems, the Vong as a whole would hold off and replenish their forces. They knew the NR was weak and disjointed, unlike the Covenant. They are aggressive but they are also smart enough to exploit weaknesses they find. I think they'd have a smarter setup than just straight up attacking, especially since they have more planets to occupy.
2 years late, but Vong would completely stomp. They killed around 365 trillion people in about 4 years. The Covenant took about 27 years to kill about 33 billion people, and they don't have control over a whole galaxy, unlike the Vong.

I always argued that the Covenant may be the most powerful faction across all Sci-Fi due to the sheer size of their navy. About the lore question: The UNSC slipspace was very inacurate. Thats within the hundreds of kilometers range. The Covenant had way better mechanisms to enter and leave slipspace, but didn't really understand that technology. They could exit slipspace with many ships less than a kilometer apart from each other. Mass and gravitation influenced this but the tech was advanced enough to calculate this and adjust accordingly.

The Forerunners had so extremly acurate tech that they could determine the centimeter differences of their slipspace exists - even with huge ships of the fortress class as we see in Halo 4.
