But it's not entirely wrong. Representation matters right? Most of the country isn't black, but the wnba is. Most of the country isn't alphabet, but a good portion of the wnba is. In today's political climate being straight is OK even though the rainbows would say it's not. There's nothing wrong with people liking her for that dimension because they identify with her. Before clark was on the scene the story was how dumb the wnba was for asking for more money even though it's never made money. The players aren't feminine overall, and femininity sells. While clark isn't a model shes cute, fit and straight. So are the other main rookies that are getting shine reese and brink. And brink may actually be able to model. Those chicks being straight is a factor and it's okay for people to like that. It's not just the alphabets but it's the inferior product by the alphabets. An inferior product is easier to take when it's done by attractive people.

I really dont get how her popularity is just attributed to her race and sexuality even though she isnt the only straight white woman in the wnba. Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescue are both the same race and have the same sexual preference but nowhere near the popularity that Caitlin Clark draws, so theres gotta be more to her than that. Imagine being straight and you get criticized for having a preference lol. The pettiness is disturbing. Who cares what race or who they prefer to date? Why can’t we celebrate how great this draft class is? Like this draft class has the potential to completely change the history and trajectory of the WNBA.
Clark is the one that helped with this change and brought out what a lot of people enjoyed about the NBA, to the women’s game. I agree that her being white has a lot to do with view-ship, but her talent also has a lot to do with it too.
I actually downloaded the WNBA app because of this draft class. I got interested in the WNBA because of these players, white, black etc.
Also like Low said, Clark is a walking bucket and her game is fun to watch. Seeing a lot of these women play ball is something because since most can’t dunk, they develop a lot of other skills that I appreciate. Clark just brought out and had me realize and appreciate how talented these women are. I knew they were talented, but Clark and this draft class gives a new perspective for people that may have underestimated them in the past.

No she’s not the only bright spot with women like Brink and Reese and they deserve their flowers too. Jordan's first 3-4 seasons, 1984-1988 were statistically his highest performing seasons in history. Playoffs and season wise.
Any rule changes (specifically flagrant foul) did not help Jordan. Bulls won with Jordan having a LOW scoring NBA playoffs in 1991. All throughout the 1990s, Jordan's overall scoring performance and efficiency dropped compared to his 1980s numbers.
Rule changes did not "help" Jordan. Pippen improving significantly helped. Jordan's 1986/1987/1988 performance was never recreated. That was Jordan's best individual performance

    • @VanessaWong-yi5pe

There is no "marketing" that changes how in 1987 and 1988, Jordan lead the NBA in steals and points by such a gross absurd margin that comparing Jordan to any other player at the time was laughable.

The media should be blame for all the resentment Caitlin is receiving from WNBA. Here it is a adolescent person with exceptional talent being thrown into a league of grown women and lesbians and calling her the G.O.A.T. before she ever accomplished anything other than personal stats.

If Caitlin Clark's attractiveness and sexual preferences was the appeal then why would that not be the case with others? Why people not gravitating towards Cameron Brink? She's white She's straight shes pretty even more prettier than Caitlin, so why isnt she getting the same attention as Caitlin Clark that they're crying about? No they ignore the talent and skills and male it about everything else its not. If it was about what they saying it is then why haven't this attention been on the wnba before cause we not gonna lie and act like there wasn't straight white attractive females in basketball before now. Most just either sucked or was boring to watch before now thats why nobody cared about the wnba but leave it to superheroes of political social justice league to make it about race and orientation and all that bs. 😕

Caitlin has a habit of signing autographs before and after every game whether home or away. THAT is key to creating fans, young fans are engaged by the attention YOU as a STAR give them. That alone creates a multiplier effect to the fan base.

This makes no sense to me. Caitlin Clark isn't on the same baddie level as Hayley Van lith, Angel Reese, Paige Beucers or even Elena Delladonne, but she can really hoop and basketball doesn't care if you look like Michael Jordan or Sam Cassel as long as the ball goes in the basket. This rhetoric is so disrespectful not just to her but to fans of basketball in general. It says that we're blind and need things other than talent to believe that a star can hoop or that we're dumb enough to actually believe this pretty privilege bs.

I believe it’s more about her style of play that captivates audiences, sure she may get more of that Midwest white crowd, with her playing for Iowa in college and her being white, but if you had a woman of color who could shoot from the logo consistently like Steph Curry, I believe she would be just as popular, maybe more with black audiences, but still just as popular overall.

Really glad I found your channel brother, you always call it how it is without bias. You’re spot on with your examples too, I don’t ever watch tennis or golf but I have watched Tiger and the Williams sister play in big matches and moments because they’re box office. The WNBA is filled with a bunch of haters smh.

I never knew about CC until a few months ago because she was exciting to watch. I also like Angel Reese and started watching basketball again since Jordan retired.

Finally, someone calls out what it is. At some point, everyone benefits from race. Essentially, it's a commonality fans share with the player, person, and values, and there's nothing wrong with it. Clark is a baller andb everyone should respect that because it takes s lot of hard work and dedication to be half the player Clark is. Caitlin is probably the most relatable player coming into the wnba with how she carries herself and her journey to getting there. Her performances in the game are similar to what Steph Curry has done because of the excitement he brings being a close to average person without being crazy athletic.
