- What was once pure "genius", has now become "maestro", without par. Those who are not musicians, will not understand how incredibly difficult it is to play, and sing, this live. If not, just sit back and enjoy. The musicians among us, will just gaze on in stunned awe.
I didn't get to see them do this in Sydney, because of Stills contracting the flu and not having a decent enough voice. In a way, I'm glad. Woodstock, be damned. - Розваги

Amazing talent. One of the best ever. So sad that life goes by so fast. Most of us don't have this kind of talent. Just amazing. Their songs oftentimes brings tears to my eyes, especially, "Teach Your Children."

As a little kid growing up in the 60’s . Memories of the tragedy of Vietnam on the tv news each night. Death and sadness. But the beautiful music of that period. When I hear this I’m transferred back in time . Laying in my bed at night. Listening to music like this on my crystal set. So beautiful and a safe and magical place to hide from scenes on the tv which remain in my memory to this day. Thank you music makers of that period 🙏

One of the best & greatest Singer/Musicians has passed away aged 81.
Along with his mates Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young, Crosby created some of the most iconic late 60's & early 70's music.
I know they started in the mid-60's, though to me they epitomise WOODSTOCK.
The Vocal harmonies rival anyone else in the music world.
Their Guitar work and their sublime Bass lines were ground-breaking and ahead of their time.
Even as a very young child I knew their music was very special.
RIP Mate, thanks for all the musical joy you brought us.

No Dazzling Light Show..No Tons of Barely Dressed dancers, just Damn Good Music! I'm sure my Dad is in heaven right now listening to CSN with a Great Buzz and watching his beloved Duke Blue Devils get RUINED by My UNC Tarheels!

Graham Nash has the voice of an angel. I'm amazed he can still carry those high notes. Steven Stills has to be one of the best acoustic players ever. That's a great sounding guitar, especially with the Harrison tune. The harmonies are thrilling me to the marrow...spine chilling. Thank you for posting this.

I am amazed at the voice quality that they all have maintained. Crosby, with the smooth, low harmony, hasn't lost anything, and I can understand that. Nash, always singing the great high part, is almost unbelievable here. It is most difficult, next to impossible, to maintain a range like that while getting on in years. This was a truly awesome performance.
I've the unity in there voice and quite strength and tenderness I had the privilege to see them live what a awesome awakening of the spirit for me for 4 hours in crediblble

Not to discount this performance, as it is truly fabulous, but Nash did not take all the same high lines as on the album. In particular, I noticed it in the "sparrow" lines.

@@jackquarantillo5192 see, I have come to the conclusion that Stills did the highest parts in falsetto back in the day. Nash is on top for 99% of the time, but in certain parts Stills goes on top. The “Friday evening” section on the original seems to me like nash is in the middle. It would make sense that you don’t hear that very top part as Stills probably can’t do the falsetto anymore. Also pretty sure Nash’s voice is a bit auto tuned on this

I am 69, and fortunate enough to have picked up on Stills and Young with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby with the Byrds, and all the way through til now. I still keep my guitar tuned in D, and there is nothing like the thrill l get playing in the style of Stills. No one else like him.
Graham Nash was a member of The Hollies as I recall.
The pure JOY and look of love on their faces when they triple high five at the end! What a beautiful moment to witness. Seemed like three young boys, happy and carefree. It struck me as quite a juxtaposition to the complex performance they just gave, especially having read about all they have been through over the years, individually and collectively.
I think their age and life experience added a beautiful depth and tone to their voices and performance. To see these three together at this age (I am not far behind them) is a real gift. Im'a listen again and likely cry again too!

@@wilbporterwp It is weird tuning. I learned it last week and EVERY string is E (except the B string!) Once the tuning is finishes, the song is actually very easy to play. I can't imagine any other way of tuning the guitar for that song. It has a sound to it whereby the E strings "drone" throughout the song. Believe it or not, it is very easy to play once you get the basics down.
@@ianbartle456 Yep, the D-45 Martin guitars are exceptional and have a perfect timbre. i had a D-35 but I sold it (ARRRGGGHHHH!).
My favorites Stills song. Great talents, all of them. Having opened for Stills many years ago, I got to meet him and chat him up a bit. Way talented and underrated musician.
A sad song-tale about Stephen Stills' deep love for fellow musician Judy Collins." Sweet Judy" was his unrequited love. This song sings of the joy of preserving the memories of our lost loves.

Stephen Stills untilized open guitar tuning like Robbie Crigar from the Doors and I did with a banjo.Lot's of fun!

3 guys who really could sing - one sadly no longer with us. Quite remarkable performance not forgetting Stills' beautiful guitar work. Should be played to all those budding musicians to show what they have to live up to.
This is my favorite live recording of this track, not only because it is really well performed, but the age in their voice adds so much beauty to the lyrics. Stills in particular is on a other level here. I want to break down crying during his solos.

Yes I just watched an interview with him today and the last thing he said was “I know that I don’t have a lot of time left here and I just wanna write all that I can and try to make a difference in this world.” He’s top notch.
They did this song last at Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ a few years back, might've be 2012. It was an even better and more energetic performance than this one. Anyway, after the show each one was escorted to the bus. Stills was last and he was limping and huffin' and puffin" with his head down as he walked. Felt bad for him. Gave it is all. It actually was an amazing performance!

They played this at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for their encore in both 2012 and 2014 and I can still remember standing, cheering, and crying with joy for both encores. Long live CSN.

I am a young 47, but have been a CSN fan since about 10 years old. CSN was not always the best performing live band, but the vocal nuances and chemistry really came out in this performance. When Stills nails the high note at 4:29, it is such joy to see Graham's elation.

This is an old video. I have seen it many times. I was 19 years old when these guys did this “little tune” at Woodstock. I have heard this song thousands of times. It never gets old. It only gets better. This is music! This is art! This is how it is supposed to be done! I believe some younger people are starting to realize the difference between the music from my era and the manufactured “music” that is coming out now. I certainly hope so!
I'm in tears. You've brought back an era. And they still had every ounce of its depth and beauty. And that after some extremely hard and difficult years in between. Thank you so much for this gift! (Oh yes, I'm 73 years old.)
