You should have heard them back in their early days when Peter Green was the guitar player. They were much more of a blues band then; Green was an incredible blues guitarist. Look him up online if you're into great guitar playing.
Yes, it's a real life soap opera. I remember seeing them play in London at the Rainbow just after Rumours was released and they were already in turmoil then. We juvenilely joked that Christine wasn't so perfect... The looks they were giving each other really added to the power of their performance. maybe that was their way of just getting through it all. Memorable, nearly half a century ago.
Eh Stevie ? Lindsay slayed it with Mick coming a close 2nd. Amazing instrumental set. L.B. is soo underrated as a guitarist. He’s right up there with the likes of Clapton, Prince, Hendrix et al IMHO
@@patstocker3658 There is no denying Stevie’s impact on any number of things: Her voice, her aesthetic (which was so copied by girls in my high school days that I can’t even) and her talent. Lindsay is…how to put this politely…sex with a guitar. Vastly talented, in voice and in musicianship.
I could watch Mick Fleetwood beating the drums all day. The energy, pain, intense look and excitement on his face as he strikes every beat of the drums. He really gets into the music.
OMG. When they look at each other while singing "baby if I could I would give you my world" .... even after all these years it's totally mesmerising. INCREDIBLE song.
Well, he is like my favorite drummer ever Peter Chris!!! Even on drugs and alcohol, both were better than 90 percent of the drummers in their prime, not named Bonham or Pert!!! Lol 🤣
I have never seen lead and bass guitar create such phenomenal harmony. The drums are just another realm and they join together to create a brilliant thumping song.
The pain they're expressing towards each other in this 1997 performance proves their love for each other (Stevie and Lindsay). And I think it touches all of us, at least me.
This doesn't get any better just don't get classic music like this no more. Mcvie will surely be missed may she rest in peace now. One of the best bands ever.
I was a university student when this version of Fleetwood Mac took the world by storm. Along with ELO, Pink Floyd and the Eagles they collectively made the nineteen seventies a golden era for pop music. Add Elkie Brooks, Al Stewart, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, the Moody Blues, Santana and Genesis to the mix and you have wonderful music I could listen to day and night!
I keep coming back to this video as it is, without a doubt, one of the greatest live performances. That look Lindsay has at 3:30 “…another lonely daaaay.” All that turmoil between then is what makes it so visceral! Amazing!!
AMAZING OUTSTANDING ONE OF MY FAVORITES 😍 👏 ❤️ FLEETWOOD MAC JUST BLOWS MY MIND ...I WAS A TEENAGE FAN NOW IM JUST A FULL BLOWN ADULT FAN IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER LIVE THANKS FOR THE RIDE !!!!!
The drummer is pushing this song as far as it can get and the guitarist is following with ease and does the vocals in the same time. Mister Fleetwood and Mister Buckingham; You where the most, thankyou for this masterpiece!
It's like the band is in over-drive. Is it the bass drum or bass guitar that's driving so hard, or both? Never appreciated this energy as much as I do now. Could be this outstanding presentation.
They were always in the zone (the pocket) just so well orchestrated and then you bring it all together and you get a Masterpiece that will live far longer then us
Stevie tells the crowd that it’s a blessing that they were all there but their music is a blessing that will last as long as there are ears to hear it. Rock In Peace Christine McVie
My late dad used to say ,"son sometimes you hear such a beautiful a song so good that it takes you away, your feet twitch involuntarily ", the best guitar riffs and drum combo I have ever heard.
The incredible thing about Lindsay Buckingham's style is the way that he doesn't just play the guitar, he becomes part of the guitar and he extracts sounds that are otherwise impossible.
Yup I saw it too; it was a little more intense than that, with Christine just looking sad. At one point Stevie walks towards the drummer-was he the one she had an affair with? Amazing group dynamics. Fantastic performance. Stellar all around
Stevie turns to face him at the crucial point of the song and Lindsey kind of screws up his face to dare to glance at her . Lindsey wrote this song and Stevie said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine "I very much resented him telling the world that 'packing up, shacking up' with different men was all I wanted to do," she told Rolling Stone. "He knew it wasn't true. It was just an angry thing that he said.
Well, I love all of them, but Stevie and Lindsay were an item for years, so who knows 🤷♂️ what is true or not? I am not here to worry about a soap opera!!! Lol
I love the smirk Stevie give Lindsey after the line " How can I ever change things that I feel". Says everything about their relationship. Amazing mix of talent... and in my opinion Christine Anne McVie has never received enough praise for your amazing vocal and keyboard contributions.
This song knocked the world of rock and roll on its butt when it was released in the mid '70's. The entire Rumors album owned the charts for a very long time.
Go check out Bruce Springsteen live version of My Home Town and I'm on Fire. Plus look up live from Daryl's house and look at hom and Ceelo Green do Crazy live it is awesome everybody should see these live performances
This has to be the greatest rock song ever! The vocals, bass, percussion, guitar... even Christie's organ blended to make such a solid sound. I personally can't think of a better song

@@donarthiazi2443 He might be respected but when you ask «hey, who's the best guitar player ever», you'll hear Hendrix, Clapton, Van Halen, etc... long before someone mentions him.
This song live is unbelievable. I can feel the love and tension between Stevie and Lindsay. The words to this song.....say it all. His voice is so powerful...it makes me weak.
Omg yes !!!! And when they do silver springs live and she stares straight into his soul when she says "you'll never get away from the sound of my voice that will haunt you"!!!!! And he literally could never escape it but you know it just shows how professional they all were because the tension was obvious but to spite that they didn't allow it to affect the live shows , in fact if anything it made the live performances that much more better and intense ❤ I never had the opportunity to see Fleetwood Mac live , however I just recently had the pleasure of seeing Stevie live in all her glory at 76 years old the amazing Gold dust Queen rocked out the arena and left us all with a wonderful timeless memory I will never ever forget❣️💯🥰
Probably one of the best live versions of one of the best songs of all time. Rather more emotional now that Chrissie McVie has passed, she really , really dug this. Bless you Chrissie & all the Fleetwood Mac.
@dougcarter. Absolutely fantastic . Love ❤ Fleetwood Mac first saw them in nz when I was 14 years old Stevie was I guess 30 she may have been on drugs then who cares she was and still is gorgeous when she sang Rhiannon I made my poor boyfriend get my to the front of the stage to carry me on his shoulders so I could give her roses 🌹 I’d bought with and carried with me all day . I’m in my 50s now so keep rocking x
Same here, I agree. Smooth, tight & professional w/o acting like they've phoned it in, or are on auto-pilot. I ALWAYS admire & appreciate the precision &-exactness of how they play; every note in the right place/time. And I just can't help wonder if Stevie is shooting dirty looks/evil eye at Lindsey? When was this concert compared to their final breakup? You've heard "Silver Spring" right? Ooooh.... Ouch-- a woman scorned & she gave him both barrels.
I was there and never knew how GREAT he was until I saw him live! Man he can definitely make his guitar 🎸 play like I have never seen before! He is definitely GREAT 👍
I'm 27 and I'm not really into this kind of music but this has got to be one of the most amazingly well put together pieces of music I've ever heard, the way he plays the guitar makes me want to go out buy a Harley Davidson and cruise down the highway with sunglasses on hahaha that's some music right there
@jakefay5064 im not against more "modern" music im a musician myself so I do not allow myself to "hate" music..just seems wrong somehow, bit like a racecar driver saying he/she hates racing..then why the frick are u doing it? but seems to me the music of today doesnt have the soul and feeling of the 70s and 80s seems more...mass produced if u will but I digress. My advice my young friend is to listen to the older music and really listen to it not just the music itself but also what they are singing about. Rock n Roll of that era was not just the stereotypical "sex drugs etc" they often told a story of that time. Listen to it and if its possible in this world today learn to appreciate it :) Theres going to come a point their music is all we will have because the musicians will be gone....this is their legacy.
This song transcends the behind-the-scene drama that inspired it. This particular rendition is brilliant and as perfect as it ever could be. Thank you for posting this incredible performance!
The year Rumors came out, we played it over and over. Every song was good! I loved Go Your Own Way, it was so emotional and different. Now, all these years later I know why.
@@zacnoordewier4882saw them just outside of Melbourne in the late 70s. They got on late and Stevie was completely wasted and was holding onto the mike stand like her life depended on it!
I remember EXACTLY where I was and EXACTLY what I was doing when this album came out. I was 15, meeting "new" relatives in another province....If you REALLY look hard at the band, their eyes, their faces, the only one that appears to be having a "good time/grooving" is the drummer, the others are looking like it's a chore to be there. Do you think maybe the audience at the time picked up on this? I did, right off the bat. Stilll lovin their music, but this performance feels strained.
I was truly choked up when they launched into the first chorus! All those harmonies with Mick's and John McVie's rhythms just hits you right in the gut.

You should have heard them back in their early days when Peter Green was the guitar player. They were much more of a blues band then; Green was an incredible blues guitarist. Look him up online if you're into great guitar playing.
who ?
Nicky was behind their best work imo.
That guitar solo from Lindsey,,dudes talented asf
It's not very often that a performance can bring tears to the eyes of a broken old man like me
Be a New Man.
The only song that makes me wish I was sixteen again my friend, tears every time.
Such a beautiful comment. Big love from London, my friend. From one broken old man to another. 👊🏻
Me too brother
Sweetheart, you don't look or sound to me. Class of 71 saying Hi from the Big Sky of Montana...
They weren't just playing a song. That was powerful reality. They were playing out their lives through music. The body language was intense.
Absolutely. Body language says copius
Agree. I read the bands rltshp history and was like whoa
It was amazing!
Einfach nur geil
I was born in 1960 and not a day goes by where I don't thank my lucky stars for having grown up in arguably the best era ever.
There will never be another Fleetwood Mac without Christine's brilliant harmonies. RIP pretty angel.
❤
Christine's stunning piercing blue eyes round off her whole performance 😘😘
Christie is better. Rip.
She was a beautiful songbird who has now flown home
Stevie got all the attention, but God, Christie McVie was so subtle and perfect…
Well, her name was really "Christine Perfect" originally..

Christine is amazing, yes! But i read she didnt really like the spot light and was okay to give it up to Stevie, who loves to entertain!
I could watch Mick Fleetwood beating the drums all day. The energy, pain, intense look and excitement on his face as he strikes every beat of the drums. He really gets into the music.
mate hes on drugs haha
@@sadslippysidverysad731 he was sober by the 90s. lost his money to coke and stopped.
@@kier1563 "Animal" from the Muppets was surely based on Mick !!
EXACTLY !
God help that drum kit!!!!
Sadly, I wish Christine McVie was still with us so the band could still recreate these wonderful songs with us. I ❤ “Fleetwood Mac” …. RIP Christine!
Anyone who ever got to see Fleetwood Mac live is truly blessed... Something that can never be forgotten.
I was lucky enough to see them live, awesome
I saw them in concert
I love them, and sorry to say, never got to see them live!!! I still regret it 😪!!!
My wife and I have seen them live 6 times but The Dance tour was the best
True.
Lindsey Buckingham is just an absolutely incredible musician. Hes a legend
They brought in two guitarists at the same time, and STILL couldn't replace him.
And Mick Fleetwood on drums, what a great performance
Nobody can replace Mr. Lindsay Buckingham, or Mick, or the girls 👧!!!!!
OMG. When they look at each other while singing "baby if I could I would give you my world" .... even after all these years it's totally mesmerising. INCREDIBLE song.
Yes, it is..!!
Indeed!!!
😅😅 I'm 75 this music will never get old
Mick's energy on the drums is a whole show on it's own, I love the song but seeing Mick really happy always makes me happy... 😊
Agree, You can tell he had a blast playing this song , Plus the guy has some fast sticks cheers .
Agreed 👍
Mick = drums and drugs
Well, he is like my favorite drummer ever Peter Chris!!! Even on drugs and alcohol, both were better than 90 percent of the drummers in their prime, not named Bonham or Pert!!! Lol 🤣
My favorite drummer!
Quite simply the best version of this song ever,Lindsey Buckingham’s vocal are superb
He is Fabulous!
@@vintagebrew1057 By far.. Nail to the heart performance.......
Truly chokes me up to hear it. He’s brilliant.
Lindsey’s playing as a lead line is as good as it gets!
Actually, everyone here is great.
I have never seen lead and bass guitar create such phenomenal harmony. The drums are just another realm and they join together to create a brilliant thumping song.
A massive wall of creativity and powerful music!
Agreed, Mick was pretty damn amazing on the drums 🥁 as well!!!!
Yes, they were absolutely awesome..!!
Spot on
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I keep coming back to this video as it is, without a doubt, one of the greatest live performances. That look Lindsay has at 3:30 “…another lonely daaaay.” All that turmoil between then is what makes it so visceral! Amazing!!
I prefer the songs on this Iive album so much more than the studio recordings.
@@MAAivoges totally aqgree , you can cannot beat real live music, esp if they can actually sing, amazing
My favorite part is watching Mick pound away on dead drums while the actual drummer is hidden. That is the kind of live experience I want to pay for!

Buckingham makes his guitar sing...
It's like the band is in over-drive. Is it the bass drum or bass guitar that's driving so hard, or both? Never appreciated this energy as much as I do now. Could be this outstanding presentation.
They were always in the zone (the pocket) just so well orchestrated and then you bring it all together and you get a Masterpiece that will live far longer then us
How Fleetwood isn’t classed as one of the best drummers ever astounds me
indeed
Especially since he’s dyslexic. He has his own special way of playing drums.
but he is?
He's definitely classed in the top tier and for a good reason. Then again bands like this are probably very underrated in most parts of the world.
@@madisonbrown5766 I had no idea. I respect him more
Stevie tells the crowd that it’s a blessing that they were all there but their music is a blessing that will last as long as there are ears to hear it. Rock In Peace Christine McVie
nteresting to note..!!
My late dad used to say ,"son sometimes you hear such a beautiful a song so good that it takes you away, your feet twitch involuntarily ", the best guitar riffs and drum combo I have ever heard.
Good grief!! All off them- every single one.. at their peak. Magnificent!❤
The incredible thing about Lindsay Buckingham's style is the way that he doesn't just play the guitar, he becomes part of the guitar and he extracts sounds that are otherwise impossible.
Lindsey Buckingham is no joke on the guitar
Even if the song was against him, he out preformed it.......
Top 10 solos, and according to my knowledge he never did solos prior to this....
He is incredible! I mean!! Wow ❤❤❤

I've been listening to this song for so many years, and it still has the power to move me into tears. It was a tremendous gift for all generations!

These five together was absolutely the best members. No on compares. You can’t replace Lindsey.
One of my favorite song of all time, never get tired of listening to it. They all played their hearts out. Fleetwood Mac forever!
Stevie and Lindsey essentially having a lover's quarrel right there in front of the world. Amazingly great.
Yup I saw it too; it was a little more intense than that, with Christine just looking sad. At one point Stevie walks towards the drummer-was he the one she had an affair with? Amazing group dynamics. Fantastic performance. Stellar all around
@@vrc2836 Yes, Stevie had an affair with the drummer
Stevie turns to face him at the crucial point of the song and Lindsey kind of screws up his face to dare to glance at her .
Lindsey wrote this song and Stevie said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine "I very much resented him telling the world that 'packing up, shacking up' with different men was all I wanted to do," she told Rolling Stone. "He knew it wasn't true. It was just an angry thing that he said.
That's what made it great as well as how amazing they all are, but the weird starring chemistry between Stevie and Lindsay!!! Lol
Not just Lindsay Buckingham doing it, but John McVie is killing it on bass. Perhaps the most under rated bass player of all time.
yup, shredding it on bass without any theatrics.
Come on, what BS...he plays the bass in Fleetwood Mac, he is not underrated !
26 Mio Views. Underrated?
That’s like saying Lyndsey is the most underrated guitarist of all time or Mick Fleetwood is the most underrated drummer…
By underrated you mean you never heard about him?
Knowing about the issues behind this song, and the album it came from, and seeing them play with such passion and togetherness is superb.
This song knocked the world of rock and roll on its butt when it was released in the mid '70's. The entire Rumors album owned the charts for a very long time.
Rumors was the first vinyl album I purchased!
73 still listening, love this band Excellent and Extraordinary music! The Best ! Thanks for Sharing!
All these years later - 2022 - and this is the best live version I found! Outstanding 🎶🎶🎶
Oh yes 👏
without question!
Totally agree. The looks lindsey and stevie give each other are just heart wrenching. Decades of emotion between them and you can just feel it

This has to be the greatest rock song ever! The vocals, bass, percussion, guitar... even Christie's organ blended to make such a solid sound. I personally can't think of a better song

Stairway to Heaven, Dust in the Wind, Sympathy for the Devil, Bohemian Rhapsody, Wind of Change, Tribute... just off the top of my head.

Me too, just reminds me of the best days of my life.
I have searched long and hard for a performance of this song that matches this one. Can't find it. Not even the stuff that was performed when Lindsey was younger. This is hands down the best performance. Nothing else even comes close. This is the masterpiece of masterpieces of this song.

Wow...what a band. I think Buckingham is criminally underrated as a guitarist/vocal artist. Love the fact I can surf youtube randomly, come across dopamine hits like this one.
Huh? Lindsey Buckingham is "criminally UNDERrated as a guitarist"..? lol Actually he's tremendously respected in the music world by peers and critics alike. All over the world he has gazillions of loyal fans that adore him.
_Underrated?_
@@donarthiazi2443 He might be respected but when you ask «hey, who's the best guitar player ever», you'll hear Hendrix, Clapton, Van Halen, etc... long before someone mentions him.

Dopamine? Really?
What makes him so great is that he plays what the song needs, not playing to show off.
Mick Fleetwood is happiest musician I've ever seen, and I love it 😊
One of the ABSOLUTE BEST live performances EVER!!
Fleetwood Mac doesn’t exist if Lindsey isn’t playing. He’s absolutely amazing. Brilliant musician
Don't discount the Peter Green era. Very different musically (more blues than rock) but some phenomenal work like Man of the World or Green Manilishi

R.I.P 🌹
This song live is unbelievable. I can feel the love and tension between Stevie and Lindsay. The words to this song.....say it all. His voice is so powerful...it makes me weak.
Hi 👋
I noticed that too, the way they look over at each other on certain lyrics like shacking up
That tension between Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham…is what make this song great.
He's talking to her .. brings a tear to me every time.
At the end, she looks as if she was just about bursting into tears... Never seen anything stronger...
The guy has a girls name, the girl has a guys name. Obviously there is gonna be tension xD
nice one@@derva1019
My number 1 song of all time, nothing comes near and this live performance must be best of anything live 🥇

Like fine wine....this song gets better every time I hear it. This live....one of the best! Thank u
Perfection. A live performance that doesn't deviate from the recording. I never get tired of their music. Absolute joy. I love them all💖💖
Same here, I agree.
Honestly I prefer this version to the original. You can hear john’s exceptional bass work much better 👌🏽

I am impressed that you recognize and acknowledge quality and timeless music when you hear it.
Listen to the Greatful Dead and the Band( the last waltz) Stevie ray von now that is music I think you can appreciate as well!
I second this! 🎤❣️🎼 3:53

If it was me I would have blown the roof....rocking and rolling 🕺🕺
Heart and soul… kaboom!
I was truly choked up when they launched into the first chorus! All those harmonies with Mick's and John McVie's rhythms just hits you right in the gut.
The bass, drums and harmony vocals make this song a great one !!

It is very unique and there is just the hint of tremolo? vibrato? I'm not sure what the right term is but it adds so much to the emotion.
