It's like watching and listening to a 9 minute divine miracle of absolute perfection. Stuff like this does not happen anymore. We lived in a golden age.
Please remember, this trio did it all with no synthesizers, voice auto-tune, electronic enhancements. This is just music in its purest form. If you can, purchase their self-titled first album, Crosby, Stills & Nash and travel back in time. Or, better yet, if you have just discovered them, buy it and prepare to be changed forever.
I can’t stop with this! The best of all their live performances of the magic SUite Judy Blue Eyes. The looks they give each other, Nash hopping all around, Crosby still as stone, til he starts the hand clap at the dizzying end. And well my goodness, Mr. Stills...the vocals lead, free but contained, and the smoke coming from the frets in the bridge. And I don’t care who was a tool to whom. We’re all pretty broken, and walking wounded, and a kind and loving Universe brought these voices together, and wrapped it up like a gift, and gave it to all of us. We are all so deeply flawed; David Crosby offers perhaps the most perfect middle-voice harmony in the history of recorded bands. I thank them all. This just hits the spot, for these perilous times. I’m 63. WE HAD THE BEST MUSIC.
Peggy Deffley Wow! " . . . A kind and loving Universe brought these voices together, and wrapped it up like a gift, and gave it to all of us." That's about the most eloquent comment and description of anything I've ever seen anywhere. I wish they could see this. It's the sort of response real musicians live to hear, and hope to inspire with every performance.
I'm 74 and can't really sing any more but I still have their original albums.....brings back so many bittersweet memories of my youth. We'll never see this golden age of great music, hope and great dreams ever again
As one person said, we absolutely lived in a golden age of music! The harmony of CSN (&Y) sooves the soul. I'm 68 now and so thankful to be born at the right time. For the GREATEST MUSIC EVER! Thank God for these guys, and yes, David may you rest in peace. You're in one hell of a rock n roll band now in heaven.

Clifford Young, I just learned what a Strauss tone poem is(thanks to you). Very interesting. Thanks. You are so right about Stills performance in this gem of a song. Peerless.
One of the best live performances by a rock band I've ever heard. Absolute perfection and a truly remarkable song. What a great acoustic guitar solo as well!
Summer 1970. Imagine a whole darkened Montreal Forum packed with excited little ones, closing in on around eleven at night, right after the first few bars of this one, suddenly, all 20,000 of us dead quiet, such silence, literally you could hear the ol' adage, hear a pin drop beside you ... what unbelievable reverence from that stoned youthful lot: not a whistle, not a shout, not a peep, nothing, like you're the only one in the audience. Niel Young was there too: four guitars, four voices, not to happen again. When they finished, we would not let them go. The Forum turned on their lights. But not for us, no one left, we stood and applauded and applauded, until they had to come back on stage and continue with more. David Crosby, gone forever, but in our hearts, he will live on and on.
We lost Jeff Beck and David Crosby the past month, there are no replacements! Watching this I realize how precious it is. An original song arranged by them and performed live with a virtuoso acoustic guitar accompaniment by Stills. I'll not wait until they're dead to thank and praise them for the beauty and inspiration.
I'm 72 years old. This one will never fade. It rises into the stratosphere as other songs fade into the mists of time. I feel so lucky and grateful continuing to pass through this amazing era, from Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, and Elvis onward.
They started in 1968 as Crosby, Stills & Nash, formed from former members of three prominent 1960s groups: The Byrds (David Crosby), Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills) and The Hollies (Graham Nash). 3:33 Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. The title is a play on words. "Suite" is a reference to a part of a classical composition, but it can also be interpreted as "sweet." The full-length version of the song can be considered a suite, with lots of musical changes. Source: Songfacts
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - if this is not the best song ever written, then it has to be in the top 10! I have loved it since it was released, and never tire of it!
This song is one of the, if not THE, greatest works of art of that era. Damned! The way it is written, the passages, the differing tunes, all put together to create a masterpiece which will endure all time.
I was at Woodstock that magical night (early morning) when CSN stepped on the stage, their first gig as they said. They nailed that performance also. At 21 I was at the right place at the right time when all the stars converged. A memory to last a lifetime. And yes, Stills is terribly underrated.
Oh Yeah, you know these guys are the very best of the best. And Come on now, Steven Stills must be one of the most original genius guitar players / arrangers of all time! Can I get an amen?

Not only did he play and sing that song so perfectly in time, even when he was not playing-touching his glasses, getting a drink etc,-still got that beat going on in his head. True Maestro!
@@neilpepper7801 Neil: Do not leave off to Nash and Crosby, out of the harmonies in which they are great (especially in the Suite Judy) . These two guys are enthusiastic, and keep the line in extraordinary vocals .Graham and David are terrific.

I will forever love them. Fly free now, Croz.....This music will live on forever. still, I am so sad. Each time we lose someone like this from this golden era of pure, creative, organic music, it's like losing a piece of one's youth.
I have to agree with you, Mr Andrew Mantle. This is lightning, magically caught in a bottle. It is so beautiful to see these artists give themselves over, give everything, to make three become one. What a gift to us all. Thank you, Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
Sometimes when I listen to this, I feel an opening to universal love that I can't quite grab, but it is beautiful and shared. Thank you CSN for your giving.
Absolutely the most beautiful group ever. I saw them at the Concord Pavillion 15 years after this song was first released. A very young girl was sitting next to my wife and I. The girl had tears in her eyes when this song was played. I remember thinking that she was a baby when the song first came out, and wondered why she was so emotional. Then I realized that the passing years had nothing to do with the emotion. Beauty is timeless.
Oh, you were so lucky to see them at that small outdoor forum. In 1996 I had recently moved to the Bay Area, a couple miles from Concord, when I read to my amazement that Bob Dylan and Van Morrison would be teaming up for a joint concert there. Of course I was in the audience. It was a beautiful summer California night. I had dreamed of living in California while growing up in Ontario, walking to school when it was 20 below zero and humming Brian Wilson songs in my head. It took a while but my dream came true. And at this tiny venue, I got to hear two of my favorite artists. Van was a bit grumpy that night, but Dylan rocked the place to its foundations. And I’m sure CSN were just as legendary.
I am so glad this video exists. The performance is incredible. They were dialed in that night. Stephen Stills guitar playing is so incredible. if there is such a thing as a perfect song, this is it.
Nostalgic bliss! Listening to this beautiful song at 55 just as I did at age 4 when our parent's bought this truly outstanding album in 1969. Dad and I were the singers in the family, and this was one of our favourites to sing together. We miss you beyond belief!
Saw them a couple of times as well. And it was even better than the Grateful Dead. I can’t say it was magical the way people think it is magical, but their music brought the spirit out in me.
The part where they're singing "Remember what we've said, & done" --& Graham reaches over & rests his hand on Steven's arm --"& felt about eachother". They've been thru so much together, both the best & worst.
@@stephaniereck8081 I agree. I think he is getting a big kick out of performing at this level, with the great harmony, and on this great, kicking it, song. I have sung in a few quartets and am usually reserved, on stage, but if I were a part of a performance like this, I would be excited and probably couldn't be still, myself.
Maybe Lindsay Buckingham, another underrated guitarist. AND AND Stevie Winwood. =. Heck Can’t find my way home. Hauntingly beautiful and magnificent. IMO
“Remember what we’ve said, and done, and felt about each other...” My favorite moment of song, 50-55 seconds in, the exchange between Nash & Crosby is so sweet.
They stayed close for a long time. I saw them do a rooftop concert at a hotel in Orlando. I was 10 feet away from them. So beautiful. Apparently now their friendship has ended. Too bad.
It's like watching and listening to a 9 minute divine miracle of absolute perfection. Stuff like this does not happen anymore. We lived in a golden age.
I would counter that it is not divine, it is man made and terrestrial. And from my perspective, that makes it even more significant and special.
Yes we did.

That's why there are recordings like this to refresh our memory. Don't despair. Just SAVE IT!
"How can you catch the sparrow?" Greatest lyric of all time.
.
The sparrow was Judy Collins, wasn’t it?
@@rozgirljoyful9362 Yes.
Rest In Paradise David 😥🕊🙏🏼 Thankyou for sharing your gift with us. 💔❤🌹
This is one of the best songs ever written
I have to agree with you, Mr Andrew Mantle. This is lightning, magically caught in a bottle. It is so beautiful to see these artists give themselves over, give everything, to make three become one. What a gift to us all. Thank you, Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
I have no words except two. Pure genius.
That's what I'd say as well.
Two words: Super good.
I have only one. word... timeless.
Two words: Perfect Harmony!
pretty damn good
Sometimes when I listen to this, I feel an opening to universal love that I can't quite grab, but it is beautiful and shared. Thank you CSN for your giving.
Whenever this tune comes on in the car I have crank it up + repeat it. It was such a great part of my life. RIP David Crosby
Wow, that solo is phenomenal to this day of music.
Harmonious performance, top tier.
Yes indeed !! Reminds me of Willie Nelson!!(Not sure why!!)
Beauty is timeless.
nice post but forget "most" .. next time try "favourite" and ignore "absolutely". free lessons on my non-existent website.
This old hippie girl loved this music way back then, and I love it now.
Debbie Foster ☮️❤️
then this old hippie boy loves you
I’m 72 now, but I remember that when I was in high school I felt exactly this way about a girl I knew. Thank you CSN.
Absolutely my favorite song ever - has been for over 40 years !!!
I am so glad this video exists. The performance is incredible. They were dialed in that night. Stephen Stills guitar playing is so incredible. if there is such a thing as a perfect song, this is it.
+robbie p I got to get my life back. Watching this is all I do. Not sure if I ever seen or heard anything like this. Ever.
When I am feeling down I just watch Steven Stills go off on his guitar in this solo.

"Southern Cross" also from this concert is awesome too.
Gerardo Erak Soutern Cross never got the attention it so richly deserves.
Stephen Stills killed it
Suite Judy Blue Eyes... a true masterpiece sung by legends. Incredible and tireless. RIP David Crosby!
RIP David Crosby. You left us your beautiful voice.
"For What It’s Worth", Stills played a superb masterpiece, Nash had us "Riding Along on a
Carousel" and Crosby managed to send us "8 Miles High".
Nostalgic bliss! Listening to this beautiful song at 55 just as I did at age 4 when our parent's bought this truly outstanding album in 1969. Dad and I were the singers in the family, and this was one of our favourites to sing together. We miss you beyond belief!
Seen them in New Brunswick a fantastic show wiped a few teRsy
Fired up a doobie, cranked the stereo up, sat back and enjoyed every second of this song.
Now -this is really great. Beautiful harmonies. I think it shows how amazing Steven Still is. He was the glue that made them so really good.
Steven Stills' voice is one of a kind. It just flows out of him so effortlessly! I love it!
Like fresh whole wheat bread.
HUGS.
Stephen killed that solo! 4:44
So sick
Stephen is amazing. Owns the acoustic guitar.
Vitality Massage yes he did and I can’t stop replaying that part
Vitality Massage
Steve winwood
best live version ever.
This clip, more than any other I've seen, really captures what a CSN (& Y) concert was like. Thanks.
Saw CSN in concert years ago and it was magical, literally. Amazing how 3 voices can blend so awesomely! RIP David Crosby.
Nash's behavior is like a teeny bopper. Embarrassing
@@lastnamefirst4035 looks like he’s having a big time 💙
@@lastnamefirst4035 I absolutely agree. Nash is a dickhead but his harmony is fantastic. I hope they live forever and I'm sure they will.
@@wmden1 a big cocaine kick according to what Graham later said. Also Crosby was high on heroin. Nothing wrong a it, just sayin
God, I never tire of hearing this song. Takes me back to a time when life was simpler.
I remember my family driving to see the Grand Coulee Dam and hearing this magical song on the radio.🎸🎤🎶📻
Rip David, thanks for the gift of your music! There's a lot to be discovered in your recent albums!
I love watching Stills play guitar. There is nobody quite like him.
Maybe Lindsay Buckingham, another underrated guitarist. AND AND Stevie Winwood. =. Heck Can’t find my way home. Hauntingly beautiful and magnificent. IMO

“Remember what we’ve said, and done, and felt about each other...”
My favorite moment of song, 50-55 seconds in, the exchange between Nash & Crosby is so sweet.
Steven carries this song all the way.
Leon
He was just making sure he was still breathing 😫
They stayed close for a long time. I saw them do a rooftop concert at a hotel in Orlando. I was 10 feet away from them. So beautiful. Apparently now their friendship has ended. Too bad.
Still breathtaking after so many years❤❤❤
Just had to come to listen. Rest in peace, Croz.
Grew up in Japan when they did this song at Woodstock and it's one that will stay with me forever. They're one of the greatest in our generation.
This video is so good, brings tears to my eyes.
It did for me
RIP David Crosby... You will be forever music in my heart.
Absolutely love this! David Crosby and Graham Nash perfectly polar opposite in their performance styles
Agreed !!! And then there’s Stephen stills !!!! They were meant to make music together!!
crosby got pretty excited at the end!
