What a simple trick! It worked on my 2008 Toyota Sequoia instantly. It has been fussy this winter. I tried washing and drying the front sensor, thinking it just got a bit dirty without success and the new sensors are very spendy. I sprayed it liberally with WD40 and the sensor alarm went away immediately. Thanks George.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this information. I was reversing yesterday (23.12.22), watching the camera in the car. Unfortunately my sensors wasn't working, I was relying on them (beeping) there was no beeping. I hit a car bumper.
Thank God nothing serious happened, not even a scratch. The lady was very very furious 😡I told her sorry a million times..
Told me she was going to ring the police. She took photos of my car and I did the same.
I'll certainly use the WD40 to clean my sensors.
Thank you V much.
THANK-YOU! That sensor alarm was driving me crazy when I backed up. I must have had water in there after I washed my truck. This worked on my 2014 Nissan Frontier.
Glad it helped
Did this on my challenger, just went and washed my car and my sensors stopped working , went and bought the WD-40 and it worked.
Glad to help!
WD 40 is lubricant...?
@@gursimransekhon688 that's a misconceptions actually. If you truly need a good lubricant, WD-40 is not it. It frees up squeaky hinges and rusty threads, etc, but that's not as much from lubrication as it is Water Displacement (product stands for Water Displacement - 40th Formula). Draws moisture out, thus helping prevent/fix rust or in this case, clear up a sensitive electronic sensor.
Why does this happen after a car wash? This just happened to me as well I’m on my way to buy wd-40
@@GeorgeAusters6y868
This trick worked for my ignition coil I'm down to try it on my parking sensor
Many thanks for this it’s worked!! I came across this when looking for a video on how to remove my bumper thinking I need to replace the two which weren’t clicking, but all working fine now!
Glad to hear Neil!
I am going to try this today. All of mine (front and rear) have stopped working, but I think if one sensor stops working, it won’t allow any of them to function. So, fingers crossed!
Land Rover wanted £450 to replace my sensors. WD40 fixed them in 10 seconds . SUPERB CHEERS
You owe me £449.99
Would a contact spray work just as well, or does it have to be WD40 exactly?
WD40 is best
I used a portable vacuum (18v Milwaukee) I put the hose on the blower side of the vacuum and used a crevice attachment (this increases the speed of the air) and aimed it at each sensor while varying the angle of directed air and it worked. No direct contact between the vacuum attachment and car panels/bumbers.
I was very skeptical of this but decided to try it on my 07 Silverado. My wife had washed my truck and I had not driven it for 3 weeks since I was away for work. When I turned it on I found the Service Park Assist message and found my sensors were not working. When I saw the price for each was over $200 I said what the heck, it can't get worse. But to my surprise after spraying all 4 of them with WD40 and turning on my Silverado, the sensors started working and the message no longer came back. Thanks for the trick!!
You’re very welcome Edward, glad to help with your truck!
Will this work for sensors that beep when nothing is there too please?
Honestly I've been chasing a supposedly bad rear sensor on my 09 Ford Smax, computer said it was the rear right sensor, removed it and swapped it with the working left rear, same thing.
Chased the cabling all the way to the sensor control module and tested everything for continuity... All fine.
So i be assumed I'll need a new control module at 225 quid from ford.... Balls.
Sat in the bath hunting for other fixes, came across this video.
Doused all the sensors in wd40, wiped and doused again.... Put her in reverse.....bugger me it works.
I can't believe this fix works.
Thank you so very much!
My sensor is sounding but no visual, yet it was working 2hrs previously, I've had the car 3 and half yr, first time its done it, and it's a bright sunny day 🤔
You wouldn’t believe. I sold my Hyundai Tuscon to a dealer yesterday. The car hasn’t been collected yet and still in use. Guess what!? The parking sensors stopped working on the day I sold it!!! Just used your WD-40 trick and they are working perfectly again. Cannot believe what I am seeing! Thanks a lot!
"Always use water displacement, because non-WD, will leave you squeaky."
after an awful snow storm my car started doing this hopefully it works
Update: problem is gone I have a Dodge Durango works like before thanks 🤩
Great tip! Also you should spray WD40 on the spray bottle trigger.
Been dealing with this issue for several months now on my Buick Lucerne. Thought i was going to have to get new sensors ..This worked for me instantly. Thanks champ 💪🏾
Thanks for the valuable tip- Had problems with the camera in the back of the car-- did not work at all- used WD40- after 1 hour it worked perfectly again. 6 euros for WD40- we saved at least 500 euros on your tip.
You’re welcome!
my sensor keep beeping when i stop, thought there are no inteference in the front.
The real issue is that BMW makes cars that are poorly designed. This one car brand has enormous monopoly on car issues. Some cars have one or two but it seems like with BMW there’s always a new issue and before they fix the problems from last year’s model, they’re already pushing a new commercial for the next BMW in 2050
Thank you very much!
You're welcome!
Hi, tryed this tip and worked for a cupple of days each time, then just didn't want to work any more. I have just been to the garage and had the codes cleared as it was throwing up codes for all 8 sensors. I don't think all 8 are broke what would you suggest to do now please?
Any suggestions bud
After I went to a high pressure car wash my sensors stopped working, I’m gonna try this for my 2008 Nissan Armada. Praying it works.
10/10 tip it worked on my audi Q2 which stopped beeping when put in reverse, it only had one long beep instead of the frequent beeps alerting me of distance to an object. after cleaning with wd40 it started to work as normal
Glad to hear!
I'm surprised you didn't mention that wd40 actually stands for
WATER DISPLACEMENT 40th iteration
Very true
Gonna try this!Makes too much sense, plus I just vacuumed 8 gallons of water out of my spare tire compartment from a roof leak. (Silly Audi issues.)
I think I have ice behind the sensors. We had heavy rain then bitter cold for 2 days and my sensors are flatlining. WD40 probably wouldn’t work on the ice?
So we have to do this after every carwash? :O
Wonder if compressed air wouldn’t work better than spraying wd-40?
Or even a hair dryer?
Thank you! ❤️
You’re welcome!
Thanks a million, this really helped me. I was so annoyed when they stopped working!
My Mazda has a issue with sensors going of just driving down the damn road especially with on ramps to freeway and interactions
"WD40 doesn't contain any solvents".
Is that correct?
Worked like a charm on my A6! 👍
Thank you, this really works, tested on Peugeot 508 SW 2015! Haven't drove our car for 6, 7 days. Car was outside under the car cover and past 6, 7 days we had all kidns of weather condition: snow, rain, light winds, up to -8 Celsius over the night, few sunny days.... Yesterday decided to take out cover from the car, it was below 0 Celsius and because of rain, snow, sun and cold, there was a lot of snow on the top od car cover and car cover was like a cardboard paper almost completely glued to the car. We had to use a lot of water temperature around 25 Celsius (never use hot water, glass could easily brake if it's really cold outside!) to "soften" the car cover. Finally we did it, car cover was removed. Some half an hour later tried to start the car, it started without a problem but on the main screen car gave us a worning that something is in front of car but in front of the car there was nothing at all. At first we thought some of the parking sensors on the front of the car got faulty. We took a short drive and every single time we stopped car gave us a working that something is in front of the car really close, it was so anyoing. Did some research and found your video on UA-cam so decided to give it a chance. My WD40 bottle was almost empty so I had to use something else: cheap W5 lubrication spray from LIDL, not as good as WD40 but I had nothing to loose. I've sprayed all parking sensors in front and on the back of the car two times each, it was still cold outside, left it to soak for a half an hour. Started the car and: voila, no more parking sensors warning! Wife did a few circles around the car, 50cm to 20cm from each parking sensor, to test if all car sensors are working propperly and they did, problem solved! Guess some amount of ice formed around one of few front parking sensors, they were "thinking" there is a close obstacle in front of the car. All in all problem solved, no more parking warnings yesterday or today, hope it will stay that way. You've earned yourself one more sub, thanky you!
I find this error occurs after heavy rain. If I clean out, use blower and WD40, then wait a few days when warm weather back, fault disappears. Has worked last 4-5 times. Not to say this will work in the future as wear and tear occurs. When I use the blower, always amazed how much water there are in the sensor gaps. Anyhow, give it try. Can’t hurt.
Water is not the problem. The sensor is sucked up inside the bumper. How do I get it back out?
Didnt work on my berlingo, did it twice to to check, gonna try contact cleaner instead
This strategy worked for me multiple times until recently. Now one of my front sensors will not work regardless of WD40 use.....New sensors for my Lexus are about $250 each not including installation labour.
I really don't think wd 40 get through to the sensors with out taking them out of the bumper and try then.
You’ll be surprised.. Look at how many people this has worked for
If you install an aftermarket parking sensors, will it pass the MOT?
Well I went to a car wash and decided to get all the salt off my car since it's now winter.. and when I reversed out of the carwash my back up sensor was going crazy.. constant beep.. nothing was behind me. For most of the day driving around town, all I heard was this annoying sound everytime I backed up. I looked up a video on the problem and solution and seen this video. Well low and behold I went and grabbed my WD40 and sprayed on the sensors.. fixed.. now I wont start kicking the shit out of my rear bumper lmaooooo 🤪🤪🤪😂🤣🤣😂🤪🤪🤪
Hahaha you’re welcome🙌🏼
So its means its helping vd40 For yuo??
Great tip, I own Vitara 2018 and facing same problem, I visited Suzuki 3S and they asked $ 206 apart of labor charges with one day vehicle to be parked in garage. Really thankful to you man. Zee Zee Pak
Welcome man!
My light comes on but the system is saying it’s the right front one is the one with an issue. Please make a video or comment on what I can do to repair it. I just paid $500 to have emission sensor and any other type of sensors fixed. I’m not bringing it back!!! Please help!!! Thanks!!! Enjoy your day!!!
Thanks solved the issue on my Peugeot 208, after a courtesy jet wash with my service ggrrrrr 😂
Glad it helped
Brilliant ! WD40 trick worked instantly to fix the problem on my 2016 Octavia estate. Many thanks!
You’re welcome!
We've got 2 cars with the same problem, your method worked on one but not the other. Thanks for that, much appreciated :)
Glad to help!
Hi! just uploaded a video that might help you with the 2nd car ua-cam.com/video/myrVE_xwZOI/v-deo.html
What if i spray just 1 of them and they start to work?
Can you use Contact Cleaner instead of wd40 ?
Contact cleaner is more for the actual electrical connectors, not for drawing water out of the sensors
That may cause issues with your paint..
Hi George, A youtuber stated that he took-off his hitch ball and the park assist went-off, so i did the same, and the message was gone.
I have a 2011 silverado Z71 4x4 truck with a hitch on the back..
Hello, I sure hope you can answer this. I bought a used Venue SEL 2022 last December 2022 and now the sensors that go “beep beep beep” when I get too close to the car in front of me makes that beeping sound and I like that. Now the beeping stopped I can’t get anyone to figure out how to get it to work again not even the Hyundai corp office. I sure hope you can help. Thank you.
Hi I have vw Tiguan 2017, park assist wasn't working,I tried wd40 but no good. Then I got a hairdryer and just blew it at every sensor. Park assist came back on str8 away.
Tried and proven worked! Thanks loads! One of my sensors have been crazy beeping when there is nothing near it for a while now. Now it's working as it should. Thanks again!
You’re welcome!
Im having the same case at my front right sensor. It's so annoying. I'll try with WD40 today.
Rubbing alcohol should work
Also as a dry gas additive
Worked straight away on my Vauxhall Mokka CDTi. No more annoying flatline beep. Amazing, thanks 😊
Good tips G. Thanks
Maybe ppl should tape up their parking sensors with masking tape when they go for a car wash - I nearly always hand car wash my BMW E60 myself and have never never had any parking sensor issues in well I over 10years of ownership. Peace ✌🏼
Yes that’s probably the main cause for parking sensor failure when people spray directing into them... I’ve had it once before when I drove through a puddle of water. I did this trick and fixed them!
Thank you good to know @@GeorgeAusters
And what about if it rains
@@Theorangeman. pressure is not so high
It's not free if I gotta buy wd 40
I'm presuming wd-40 is an example of any water dispersant.
This worked for me, parking sensors kept getting randomly triggered when there was nothing infront of the car and this solved it.
Same issue here. Going to try that fix
So you mean ur car was beebing with nothing infront ? And u use the wd40. And it is gone ? Cause i have the same issue here some time its beeebing with nothing behind and sntimes it works perfectly! So u advice me to use the same trick ?
@@ahmedradi4773 this fix stopped working shortly after. Haven't figured out a fix yet. Probably needs a trip to the garage.
@@Oscar-if6lq if this doesn't work you most likely need to replace the sensors in the bumpers
Good luck 🤞
@@ahmedradi4773 just wipe the sensor with dry clothes or dry tissue. Mine also beeps sometimes after washing.
This worked! Amazing!! Saved me lots of money and time.
You’re welcome
This sounds too good to be true, i will try it and report back xD Just bought F11, when testdriving it it worked, and just after i bought and brought it home, sensors stopped working, just got an error '' no parking assistance, please park unaided'' lol. Ill try this, because i really dont feel like taking down bumpers replacing sensors with alibaba ones (they are cheap, but the replacing part probably sucks)
Good luck
ofc it didnt do nothing.
@@skyliner4610 did you spray a good amount directly into the sensors?
Good vid mate
My Tesla Model 3 was reporting that something's constantly really close to the rear left sensor, beeping and warning every time I was driving slowly.
I tried this trick, and 24 hours later it's working like normal again!
You're welcome!
Already fixed sensors. Looks like a demonstration if damaged to help.
Rear parking sensors on my car were working fine until one car bumped into rear bumper and after that the sensors stopped beeping and also no red light on the parking switch inside the car. Can WD 40 solve this - there is no damage at all - it was just a slight nudge from behind - appreciate your thoughts on this one - thanks
Same
Amazing ! Here I am getting ready to pull my front bumper and I stumbled on this video. IT WORKED!!
You’re welcome!
Hi do you what is the problem if my camry reverse sensor has the electricity feeling when I put my hand at the sensor indicate that it work but it didn't work
Hi there, are you spraying the camera as well? Anyone? My sensors work but my camera inside the vehicle only shows black screen.
Do you know how to fix the rear camera view? The sensors work, but it only shows a black screen when backing up 😵💫
How do i know if i have rear sensor ? Because i have the little dots on the back side but it never makes the biep noice when i drive backward. On the frontside it beeps very well ? I have rear camera. Is it possible that i dont have rear parking sensor?
Just used this tip and fixed my annoying warning flatline bleep. Thanks! 🙌

Glad I just randomly stumbled on this.
And did it work?...
I have a c200 CDI, had my car polished, the rhs sensor goes on without any object being close by and without reason, any tips
Having the same issue with a CLK270. Have you fixed your issue?
I have e350 2011, have my car polished, than after 5 days i washed and have the same problem, any tips?!
Hi! just uploaded a video that might help you with that ua-cam.com/video/myrVE_xwZOI/v-deo.html
I live in the desert and its been 115 f daily but I am still going to try the wd-40.
Well firstly thank you as this does actually work
However for me I knew it was too good to be true as everything with cars never is successful for me, it lasted just a few days then the fault come back, I’ve felt like doing a John Cleese and smashing it over the bonnet with a fat branch I’ve been that angry and frustrated with fault after fault, I can’t even deactivate it so it’s constantly beeping throughout my journey telling me to “service parking assist”
I think it has to be an electrical/sensor fault
My mother in law has now witnessed my true anger with cars when it comes to things going wrong, I just give up with cars, think I’ll stick to bicycles.
didnt work for me obviously must be a hard ware issue on my ds3
u always come up with good videos bro
Thank you bro🙏🏼

this didn't work initially but after letting it sit for 10 minutes and giving it another blast of WD it did. Thank you!
Good stuff.. No worries you’re welcome!
my sensor cap fell out and now thw system in the car is saying parking assist error, would I need to buy a new sensor ?
Thank god there's UA-cam, any mechanic would have charged me lots of this 😂
Ok mine is just the opposite, my sensors only work when you spray water on them. Any help here?

Comes up with parking assistance fault see cars manual. Sensors do not work at all and haven’t for about 2 years. Is the WD40 trick likely to work? Anyone know what common faults are with parking sensors?
TIA
Worth giving it a try!
Dear George! Many thanks for your video and your know how, you saved my money (EUR 180,00). I've had the same problem with my VW Tiguan, the dealer changed the sensor a month ago, after one day with snow and water on the highway, the problem was the same. Now it works!!!!! Thank you very much, Andi
Welcome man!
when your parking sensors weren't working was your check eng light on? And after they started working, (after WD 40 application) did your check eng light go away too?
no answer? 😕
Has anyone told you, you look like Carl Froch. Thanks for the video will try now.
Hi bro does wd 40 damages car paint if i lave it on my bumper for 2 hours ? I sprayed my parking sensors but forgot to wipe the wd liquid from the bumpers
No it’s perfectly safe for paintwork
Well it isn’t exactly for free because you still have to buy the wd40 😅
Who doesn’t have WD40?

didn't work for me Alfa same unit as BM. Thanks any way, useful to know.

Thanks for the video George, I'll let you know how it goes.
Does this work on sensors that just continuously make one solid beep?
Yes
@@GeorgeAustersgreat thank you. Will give it a go.

Can I ask, can you use the WD-40 that’s in a spray tin? Thats the one o have I’ve never seen the spray bottle
Yes, exactly the same👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters can I stay it directly on sensor? Or should I just spray on cloth? Thanks 🙏🏻
@nataliewillis9067 Directly onto sensor
Just tried it on my Volvo S60 and it worked on a sensor that was cutting in before anything was there, brilliant.
Never had this issue with my Audi, but with BMW it's a real issue...
Thanks George for the tip, mine were not working, I think it was caused by left over residue from waxing. I used the WD 40 and they started beeping like a charm.
You’re welcome!
You are absolutely a legend. I had for a month this problem and the things you said made sense for my problem, fixed it. Thank you
Great to hear!
