Nice. I used to do mobile wheel repair. Did 12-15 wheels a day for dealerships all over Phoenix. You really only need to go 120-320-500 on the discs. If you deflate the tire you can get in there better. Also, when you deflate it, you can use playing cards to mask the tire. Then roll a card up and tape it. Then slide the rolled up card over the valve stem to mask it. I could refinish and paint 4 wheels in 45 minutes.
Thanks for feedback mate. I have worked for dealers also and very similar to yourself. I really wanted to keep this one as DIY as poss 👍🏼

Drive normal and don't hit the curb.. done deal
lol -- true. And all the men who drive long haul trucks. As a woman who happens to be a mechanic, the curb bite from a woman driving the family car pales in comparison to the body damage I repair on an almost daily basis thanks to their husbands who are trying (and frequently failing) to drive a long haul truck and trailer. Bottom line: everybody does it. Not all of us gals suck at driving 😉

Cool tip. I had a blow out the other day and the rim got well worked. Glad to know there is a solution other than buying a new wheel!
Thanks for this video, I’m going to give this a go after watch this as the wheel turned out 1st class. Thank you. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good stuff 🤜🤜
Great tip for quickly and cleanly cleaning up those wheel scratches. Thanks!
No probs
This was a good video with fine workmanship and advise. Very thankful you showed the result of the paint job. Looks amazing.
Thankyou
@@cvrpov how in the world did you match the paint to the wheel or did you repaint the whole thing?
@@JayyBird93 Excellent question, pity there is no excellent answer to accompany it.
You just saved me a fat bundle of cash, as my Quattroporte rims were due for a job this summer. Now I'm gonna do them myself. thank you so much for this most useful instruction.
Thank you for that. Had some damage to my wheels from curb and potholes couldn't afford to get them cleaned up professionally but thanks to you I can now get this done on the cheap. Cheers.
No worries mate
Great video, shall have a go at it soon!
This video boosted my confidence in my cars stock rims. I’m definitely going to use this technique to refresh my girls shoes! 🚗💨
Thank you!
Nice one 👍
Confidenc in your stock rims..... Wth do you mean? I really dont understand. You were afraid they were goin to break or so?
Very nice! I have a very small 2" spot on the wheel of the car and some on the golf cart. I will give this a go looks like a fun little project. THANKS
This should work great. If your in the uk you can buy the kit from www.paintgear.co.uk

Great video mate, thanks for spreading the knowledge. Looks quite a bit easier than I thought it would be . And you didn’t have to break the tire down.
Glad you liked the video
The most simplest video ive seen. Well done my dude!

Incredible!!! I was considering paying to get this done on my Lexus (previous owner curbed it), but I am absolutely going to go DIY after seeing this. Thanks for posting.
Great stuff
How did it turn out?
BALANCE YOUR WHEEL before installing again on vehicle. Knocking material off unevenly as was done will knock your wheel balance off. Will wear out your tire unevenly and will not be as steady on the road, if alignment is off any bit at all.
yep
Been covered a thousand times
You're a magician! Very useful tricks, glad I found the channel.
Dude I’ve been putting this job off for months , the thought of filling and sanding and repeating process. Cheers mate 👍. New sub and liked

Brilliant, I've done my wheels using an old cordless and a sanding disc kit I bought on line for £12. I used acrylic wheel paint in rattle cans and got decent results, all in only cost me a day in the garage and about £50.
Thanks for the tips 🙂

Do you have a link for sanding kit please?
Some places will do it professionally for £50.

Great video. However, I would have preferred you do both sanding and painting to reflect a who package. I know doing this would involves longer recording time yet you could do videos in bits and merge them. With that said, you're a great DIYer though. Thank you
Awesome video bro! I am going to fix my dually rims. Cheers from Canada!
I used your video to do my 2010 c300 my wife can’t park 🤣 it took me longer than 15 per wheel however they came out great and I did have them professionally powered coated then rebalanced before mounting them back on the car. Top tip this does work! It saved me a lot of money by doing the prep work. Cheers mate
Great stuff
Didn't need to Rebalance. You threw good money away. You could not even weigh what came off. So little.

Great video, after all my years I,ve never really considered grinding down alloy wheels , going to give it a try. Thanks

While I have only watched 2 or 3 videos on wheel repair so far, this was far and away the best one yet. The narrative was clearly understandable, and you went step by step showing and explaining the whole process quite well. Unfortunately, I am not sure, I will have to look, but I think the damage done to the wheels on my car by the previous owner may not be repairable, as the " lip " on the wheels is a bit more pronounced.
Thanks for the feedback Howard
You might have to use bondo to recreate that lip
@@georgeparker555until you hit another curb and then the bondo crumbles lol
@@trentdaddydolla647 either way the wheel would be curbed and would need to be fixed

Its amazing that you can make a video for no gain other than to maybe help at least 1 guy who's got very limited tools, which is completely free to watch.... and it infuriates certain people to the point that they have to take the time to abuse the guy who's made the video... incredible 🤣👍🏼

Excellent Video as said all Married men need to learn this as soon as we say. I DO
Haha
Just did mine, had some roloc's, 120, 220 and 320. I used my die grinder, and a drill like yours along with some cotton polishing tips and tripoli compound. The only problems is clear coated Aluminum and painted wheel combo's. It's doable, just a lot more work polishing the sanded aluminum up to the original clear coated sections. Once I had the aluminum polished a little above satin I used some rattle can 2K clear to recoat the aluminum.
Yeah I was wondering about that as I believe my Maserati QP does have a clear coating on the rims.
Maybe check out my other wheel repair videos in the playlist for some answers?
Absolutely well done
Good video. I may try this. Thank you.

Brilliant. I never knew alloys were so easily sandable.
With the drill and sanding pads they are ! By hand its not the case
omg thanks a lot, never thought it could be this easy!
Now it is 👍🏼
Oh wow that genuinely look like brand new!
Liked and subscribed! Thank you! 🙌🏼
👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks! Gonna give it a try. Only thing I was wondering was if there would be enough material removal (including the initial damage) to throw off the wheel balance?
I always recommend balancing the wheel regardless
Add safety factor note. Get rim Balanced after doing this, because you took away metal,it needs to be added back IE: Wheel Balance.
