The Wayfaring Stranger is an American folk and gospel song likely originating in the early 19th century about a plaintive soul on the journey through life.

Lost my brother two days ago, couldn't grieve or cry until I happened on this song.
The amount of talent in that room should have blown the roof of that house!
The violinist is very talented, the little lady sings beautifully!
This girls voice....wow! I can't stop listening.
I am 97yr old. I have heard this song from so many artists. This version is the very best, if there's a heaven I have to believe this is the voice we will hear and will be heard by me someday 🙏
God bless you, my 97 year old friend
There is a heaven. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent and accept that He died and rose again for the salvation of your soul so that you can be there one day.
You will ascend to heaven my brother - all of us who have faith in Jesus will. I pray the Lord blesses and keeps you, making his face to shine upon you.
Much love from England.
God bless you and be with you.
Please be heaven-bound...who knows what kind of music the devil plays!?
I am absolutely mesmerized. I can't believe they aren't Southern Americans.
Honorary Southerners?
from england maybe?
They are from Norway and surely not SA
Wow! It is extraordinary when the instruments sing as well as the singer; and when that level of virtuoso is so high, the angels will want to cry. Thank you for sharing.
40 year old, life-long punk rocker here -- this is absolutely AMAZING. Transcends genre, just gorgeous music.
The woman singing is so talented. Wow. Thanks.
Very nice 😢
My dad passed away from sickness. This song is a great comfort to me. In heaven there is no sickness nor toil no danger. I miss him so much.
So sorry for your loss. It’s difficult, I know.😢
He will be there in God's beautiful heaven to greet you when it is your time to journey there some day. Hugs!!!!
I always had Jack White's rendition of this song as my favourite. Now it's in second place. Simply beautiful.
❤ Best version I ever heard ❤
All of you were meant to connect and bring forth this beauty into the world, the melancholy this brings to me is beyond words…
Still listening and I love it. My parents were from the southern US and I heard bluegrass and gospel my whole life. Now I feel like I need to go to Norway. God Bless you people for spreading our music from the southern US throughout the world. I wish you the Greatest success. God Bless
I went to Norway in May of this year and it was indeed an awesome place.
How moving, what a great voice and band.
Oddly my Dad died this year at 92. I had not grieved him until I listened to this music. It was cathartic. So thanks.
I was married to a bluegrass musician for 20 years.he crossed the Jordan one year ago.
He played every instrument except base.
Thank you beautiful......I was actually speaking of him an hour before this song was sent to me
Then he found glory. He awaits for you
So sorry for your loss. May his memory be a melody.
I’ve heard many wonderful versions of this song, but imho, this is the very best.
I was in my dad's band. He passed away in 2016. Me and him went to yard sales together, all kinds of things.i helped him get ready every Saturday night for music in his garage around at my mom and dad's house. My mom and dad would open up there home and let people from our little town listen to them play .I miss him so much. Now my mom is in the nursing home with Parkinson's and we just found out yesterday that we have 30 days to place my mom somewhere else, because they sold the nursing home she in. This song is very comforting to me to listen to.
The presentation of this song and the power in her voice sent a chill down my spine. Totally AMAZING
life will always be amazing if young musicians keep re-making classics. I have no fear of the future. God is great and He speaks to us all the time, but man oh man, if you don't find him in music you need to get sober.
10-4😊
I'm 73 lam a musicians addict. (, addicted to music) This is by far the most moving and memorable rendition of this song I've ever heard..
.
... Best of Luck to Hayde & friends.....
Amen again.
I am 3 years old and this is the best song .
As a child only 12 I sang that song on a old weathered porch on country cabin while my friends father played the fiddle , and his grandpa played the harmonica. It echoed through those deep Ozark hills ! Hearing it just now raised the hairs on my neck and sparked a tear from my eye !
Y'all... Coming from a 66 year old man who has listened to country & western, swing, bluegrass, and folk, and managed concerts, THERE IS NO BETTER MUSICAL COMPOSITION AND ACCOMPANIMENT THAN WHAT Y'ALL DID WITH THIS SONG. It is sublime, rhythmic, and articulate all at the same time. This is musical mastery. As always, lil miss lead singer is spot on with every note of her voice, but then I would posit that because of the skill of the instrumentalists she is both inspired and confident to sing with all of her inner strength. Y'all got something here guys...
agreed!! best rendition ever.
GOOSEBUMPS!!!... ..
Your right. Can’t get enough.
Wonderfull comment of yours!
@@Seafortune Thank you for saying so!
Absolutely the best version of this song ever made. I have cried many times listening to this and thinking about the ones I have lost. Thank you for recording this.
I am neither religious nor a romantic, but this rendition of this song brought flowing tears to my eyes. It evokes the ultimate sorrow yet uplifts one with its sweet, haunting tones.
I'm not religious, but her voice is God sent...
This song brought a tear to my eye.Doesnt happen very often. This lady's voice.Just Wow!!Best ever version.
The spirit of the Appalachians, captured by Norwegians! I love it!
Agree....
@Angel Bulldog Pretending race doesnt exist, or is "only skin color," is the Elites' satanic propaganda for their useful idiots. And you bought into it, apparently.
@Angel bulldog, as a lifelong Christian , I have been struggling deeply. I’m older know and love to read everything. I have struggled because, well my teachings went against my gut. I always felt God was source of gut intuition. My gut differs greatly from my teachings! I have been on literal razors edge for yrs. this is where you comment comes in. Reading your comment touched my heart. And was well with my gut. The response you received from Viking who ever. Went against my gut. My gut has never failed me. Somehow reading your comment, then the other . It helped me to remove myself from the razors edge! Never underestimate, your ability to affect someone’s life profoundly, thank you so much Namaste Love and light Evie
@Angel Bulldog Oh shut up. Race exists as assuredly as gender exists.
Did you really need to bring your flagrant virtue signaling to this conversation??
viking saxon Thank you for your time and energy! Reading is my thing! Thank you sincerely for reaching out to me during my dark night of the soul. I will definitely look these up, I’ve never heard of them. God bless , Love and light Evie
All right....here we are....23 January 2022. If my father were still alive, he would be 105. Thank you for your music,.
I think I'm hearing the song I want played at my celebration.
Occasionally, just occasionally, the algorithm picks a gem.
Agree. I just saw this, wow
Indeed 👍
🙏🎵🎶💙Amen 🙏
Where is home.. ?
@@klytouch7515 heaven. They bible says God's people are travelers and that this place is not our home. IT also says our bodies Re just a tent for our soul which belongs to Jesus.
I've always loved this song and to hear it by this girl was the absolute best I have ever heard. There's something about her voice that evokes, sadness, nostalgia, longing and sorrow, especially for me since I lost my wife of 55 years a few years ago. It makes me somehow think there is a life beyond this where we will be reunited
Bless you. And yes, That Land awaits.
This leaves me in rapture filled awe and a state of deep soul speechlessness.
I've only just learned of "Wayfaring Stranger." I put it into a UA-cam search. Many came up and I didn't know which to choose. I chose well. 👍
THANKS GUYS , THAT WAS GOOD. PRAISE THE LORD 👍💪❤🙏
Pure and perfect music. Please let this be what I hear on the radio, not the Old stuff that keeps playing.
Rebekka is hypnotising us again. 😄
Can I like this a dozen times?
I've heard this song many times in 64 years. None of them brought me to tears like this one. I can't listen to this without getting a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.
Good Lord amighty best version that I've ever heard. Come to my house anytime for supper and bring all your friends with you. Stay as long as you wanna stay. Beautiful rendition , Thank you for posting
I would like this song to be played at my funeral. Many years from now. ;) I am waiting to see Jesus, my savior.
This is the music of my people. God save us.
I was raised on this I remember my mother singing this and many more she sang like an angel this makes me cry I really miss my mama God bless her I know I'll see her again when I get to heaven thanks UA-cam for playing this kind music
I've listened to TONS of versions of Wayfaring Stranger. This version is the GOLD STANDARD to measure all the rest of them by.
This is good, where are the people who love bluegrass style gospel?
I am71years old,I hadn't heard this song since I was in fifth grade elementary, love it beautiful song. Brother Sal Molina
This is Amazing in every Way, the production, the Instruments, the Humans & this Beautiful Music.
I commented a year ago on this beautiful song. This September 28 2022 I laid my phone playing this song to heron my wife's chest in a hospice room. As she breathed her last breaths another victim of bad health and COVID. I cried my eyes out then and I am doing it again now as I write this. They say hearing is the last sense to go so I prayed she heard it and could feel my son and I holding her hands. She passed ironically at 3:16 pm as hurricane Ian pressed down on us. My son who held her hand on the other side of the bed is named Ian. I have the time as a constant reminder of John 3:16. RIP my love of 47 years. I will be a long soon. Thank you for the years and thank you for this song.
I lost my beloved Frances to heart-failure ten years ago, which is strange as she had the biggest heart of anyone I've known. With you in this, James. 😭
So sorry for your loss.
I felt this same way - see my reply above.
❤
❣️
Turn on the radio, tune around for hours and you'll never hear anything this good! UA-cam has it's faults but it does bring the world music this good.
Amen.
Your the best
Amen!👏👏👏.. My walk now has this beat..( Ms Vocalist, YOU seem to HEAR 👆 & I KNOW, HE hears YOU & the Orchestra)..
Amen!
I dont agree with you about youtube. You can build a house with youtube, fix anything with youtube, learn so much with youtube.....music is just a small percentage of youtube...which is fabulous.
Beautiful rendering of this equally beautiful song.
For a guy that grew up in Van Lear, KY. I can appreciate this. Mountain music is the best!!
I met them yesterday in Wilmington NC. Such wonderful people. I was speak with the usher after the show - a mountain girl from NC. She cried twice during the two gospels.
Never heard anything like this
What a room full of gifted musicians. That child's voice is straight out of heaven.
The legend JD SUMNER will be happy man in heaven watching this!!
love this! I'm way to picky being an x sinner . this is Godly.
Its been 5 years since I last commented on this performance and I still believe, after listening to it more than a thousand times, it is the best version out there! Just outstanding. Love Hayde and all they perform!! God bless you all and keep performing!!!!
Seriously wonder..
if I'm not alone
in just coming back
one more time for a
Listen..! Angelic.🙏
Why do you
write like
this? I
wonder.
I don’t envy people with lots of money. I don’t envy fame or beauty. But I envy the heck out of people who, with voice and instrument, can pour out their souls in a way that makes the rest of us weep or soar, with whatever emotion is embodied by the tune.
Yet more evidence that good things (besides my grandparents and lefse 😊) can come from Norway!
You will never hear a better version than this....guaranteed!
Emmylou harris too.
There's a Russian version that comes pretty close
@@brianjohnston6667 Emmy Lou h Harris does a beautiful version
@@pearlharbor4790 My favorite version. Sorry to say I don't care for Johnny Cash's version at all.
@@wvob6752 I love cash's too, but yes, harris does it best.
This song resonates in a much different way, when your both of your parents are on that distant shore
So true.
Girl's got pipes! ...God loves y'all.
This band deserves to get honorary American citizenships.
The vocalist's diction is excellent, better than many native English speakers.
I am a Norwegian music journalist, and Hayde’s music hit me so hard a few weeks ago. I`ve been listening to them since then over and over again. It`s some kind of magic to this band and Rebekka’s angel like voice with her expression and unbelievable overtones. Hayde’s live performances of “Wayfaring Stranger” and “All My Tears” make me believe there’s a God and there is eternity.
Amen!
I’m back again. I call them God’s gift!!
For certain they are a divinely orchestrated band. Rebekah's face and voice only serve to bring a joy only God could create.
It's great if one is going to again meet their Mama, but the best is to meet to Savior, Jesus Christ,
who gave His life for lost sinners.

It's always been like this...return to eternity with a smile.
They are addicting, just so beautiful
I wish they came to the states, I want to see them, to see if I feel the
Spirit of God I hear coming from them.
Thank you young lady ! I hope to.see my folks again !
I honestly feel like I don't even deserve to comment on this. Seriously. The beauty of how you all play together!
If I was not believer in a Heavenly Father who has a beautiful place prepared for us, I would so now...
... and I would want to go there and sing to Him with you all
This young lady has what is called 'a plaintive voice,' and she makes full use of her voice in this song. It's one of the best renditions I've ever heard of 'Wayfaring Stanger,' and ive heard allot of them.
I just learned a new word "plaintive", love it.
Have to agree.
Plaintive? Yeah, this is plaintive :) ua-cam.com/video/b1Z4PAZX9Bs/v-deo.html
I like the voice i just wish they had mixed it better with the music. I wanted to hear more of the music in a blend with her voice. Instead it just overpowers the cords and at times nearly drowns out the music. Good rendition though.
I love her voice!
LIKE PRICELESS , WELL-AGED WINE , THIS VERSION SPARKLES AND BUBBLES ; WILL NEVER LOSE ITS MAGNIFICENT , MARVELLOUS TOUCH!!!V.W.
Beautiful version that captures the haunting suffering and sorrow behind this song.
"I'm going there to see my father...my mother.." Tears are flowing...thanks be to God through Jesus Christ that I have that hope.
I don't believe in any of that religious crap (strictly evidence based), but tears are still flowing as I read these and every time I listen to this.
@@tubinreo I believe in God and the Salvation bought with the blood of Jesus Christ based entirely on the evidence.
So moving! So powerful! I am 71 now and beginning to compose a list of songs for my funeral. This may have just made it onto a short list. Thank you for this.
Me too
I'm 73 and was thinking precisely the same. This, and Maria Callas' rendition of Schubert's Ave Maria. Pieces such as these are in and of themselves celebrations of the beauty within the human spirit.
The voice and the arrangement - incredible. A testament to the human condition and our relationship with music.
💯❣
When the trumpit sounds a heavenly hoast will ring out. It will be beautiful
I'm walking this land of strangers. I feel I don't belong. For I know this is not home. I keep searching for the promise land. I look forward to the land where I fill at home. A stranger with no bed to lay my head. With no roots to let the tree grow. I will wait for Christ to come to guide me home.
Found this song the day my friend passed away, whom just said the salvation prayer. This song was healing for my heart. Absolutely beautiful and quite appropriate. Thank you sweet angel!
Lagrima.
Stop making me Cry.
Just Gorgeous.
Elvis is an Anagram.
Glory to the Lord Jesus. This made me cry. Angelic. Thank you all and God bless you all.
Heavenly, I have no other words for this.
A 300 year old Hymm.
Jesus, forgive all of us...
I first heard this song the morning that my grandfather passed away. My uncle and me were coming back from the hospital, it was quiet. He put this song on and at first I didn't really pay attention. Once I heard "I'm only going over Jordan" everything felt still. As I kept listening I could feel the tears and emotions finally building up inside. When I heard "I'm going to see my mother, she said she'd meet me there when I come." I could feel the tears overflowing. This song helped me get through that week. Even now after 6 months when I hear this song it helps me remember that he is in a better place. I miss him so much and not a day has gone by that I don't think of him.
So sorry for your loss of a beloved grandfather, Twyla. I can't begin to know how music like this can bring such comfort and peace at such times of grief, but it does. May you continue to traverse your valley of sadness with soothing music, the love of friends, and the Prince of Peace to surround you.
Yur voice is blessing take care ov it
So sorry for your loss🤗🐝❤️
You honor him, ❤️✅
I lost my beloved Grandpa 41 years ago and miss him still, every day...You have my condolences Twlya...This beautiful song will continue to help you heal.....This will be played at my funeral.....Continue to honour your grandfather and listen to this often. ♥
I'm from the mountains of North Carolina. No bluegrass like this here. Bravo.
The very best rendition of this song that i have ever heard.
I'm 65 y.o disable french man and I thank you so much for the tsars you put in my eyes with this so beautiful version...❤
This song as sung by the lead vocalist and accompanying bluegrass orchestra brings chills up an down my spine. I love playing it on my acoustic guitar and singing it. Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris both recorded it but no one or group could ever hold a candle to the Hayde version ❤
Hayde Bluegrass Holy Grail. The gold standard of Wayfaring Stranger, at least a hundred views, I carry THIS one in my head
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I like that song!.💯
Dad died just a couple days ago. 79, decent man who made mistakes like all of us as a young man but knuckled down and accepted Jesus as his saviour a few months after my mum's death a couple years ago.
There's no mourning or dark clouds for my hope and knowledge that I'll see them both again is a guarantee the Lord granted me.
Rejoice!
Hearing this band makes it seem like there is hope that real music is alive and well!!
This is what music should be. Stunningly beautiful. Please don't ever succumb to the influences of corporate America.
The fact that I have the same New Era 59 Fifty fitted T-Shirt as the double bass player makes me very happy.
Such a hauntingly evocative bit of music. This young woman's voice captures grief in all its complexity.
