  • We finally have another Julianne song to share with you! We were a little worried the rain would be too much, but when we got the audio back, it added such a nice touch that fit perfect for the mood of the song.
Our album, Live Sessions, Vol. 04, includes "Wayfaring Stranger" and is dedicated to everyone who traveled to see us this year! Whether you have come to the Branson theater or a show on the road, it has meant so much to us that you want to hear us live. When we walk out on that stage and see your smiling faces, you give us energy and true joy as we perform. We also LOVE getting to meet you and put faces to the names that cross our screens. Thank you for giving your time and resources to see us do our favorite part of our jobs!
We also recorded a twisted version of this song for our album, My Ozark Mountain Home, and it earned the title "Wayfaring Stranger Gets Stranger" from mom!

    ►LYRICS - Wayfaring Stranger
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world of woe
And there's no sickness, no toil nor danger
In that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my father
I'm going there no more to roam
    I'm only going over Jordan
    I'm only going over home
I know dark clouds will gather around me
I know my way is rough and steep
Yet beauteous fields lie just before me
In Christ redeemed, their vigils keep
I'm going there to see my mother
She said she'd meet me when I go
    I'm only going over Jordan
    I'm only going over home
I want to wear that crown of glory
When I get home to that bright land
Well, I want to shout salvation's story
In concert with all the blood-washed band
I'm going there to see my Savior
I'm going there no more to roam

...yeah I notice that too, they are genuinely happy for one anaother, it's very rare, you don't see this much, most families have a certain tension between each other, a lot could never even do something like this together. I'm guessing they are a religious family ands the way they seem to respect each other is a tremendous example. No preaching required

I've just listened to more than a dozen different people's interpretations of this song.
This is a beautiful rendition. Absolutely beautiful. As good as or better than the best I've heard so far.
But I don't know what the blonde is so happy about. The facial expressions she exhibits don't reflect the gravity and somberness of this song. My eyes are attached to my ears through my brain and what I'm hearing doesn't jive with what I'm seeing when I see her and hear this song.
    Musically, I appreciate her contribution.
As I said before, this is a beautiful rendition of this song
They should be proud of themselves.
    They did a great job.

This beautiful and talented family does not disappoint, ever! What a blessing they are! This rendition is pure Petersen, and the best that I've heard! We are all poor, wayfaring strangers on our journey to the Father. Great bass work, Mother Petersen!

At a really hard time I found the video of ‘On Eagles Wings’ and after I played it 100 times I found the rest of you magnificent Petersons. We laid my mom to rest 3/21/85. We we’re still so young. My sister who has been playing guitar since she was young, sings like an angel. Worked for the Catholic Church almost 50 years. My sister sang that song perfectly and I cannot hear it without crying. Sometimes I watch it just so I can remember my mom.🥰😂🙏🤦🏼‍♀️

WOW! It took me a few minutes to quit crying to say thank you. I'm having one of those mornings where I wonder why. (Still miss my son after 21 years gone.) I think I just needed to hear a gorgeous song from a beautiful family performing with a warm and true heart to push me a little further today. So a heart felt thank you.

Nature sound of rain, acoustic instruments played outdoor and perfect harmonics by family chorus recreated how this beautiful old American folk song would have sounded almost 200 years ago in the West. Julian's vocal fits perfectly to conveying the plaintive message on this bluesy melancholy melody.

Wow Julianne. This is your best mandolin solo ever !! And also with the 'tremolo'!🎶👍 Your interpretation of this classic gospel is really magnificent! 👍 All the band is very good, of course, but a special mention this time to Mom, she too for a great double bass solo! 🎶👍
P.S. Ellen's approving look to Julianne at 00:15 is very significant! 😉

That’s a wonderful song that pays homage to bluegrass gospel roots. It’s also been a pleasure to see all of your skills grow and mature over the last few years. Julianne (AKA The Wild Pookie) has come a long way since being called out on stage while playing mandolin during a performance of “Uncloudy Day”. Thank you for the blessing of your music. It makes dark days much more bearable. We also look forward to the Mini--Palooza in March. We will be there, Lord willing.
    Love,
