I've played bluegrass for 50 years in the USA. Played this song more times than I can remember for a host of singers some you heard of some you have not. Never I have I heard it sung like this young lady sings it. I'm floored ...listend to it over and over again this is gold. No singer I know of made this song there own with such passion.

As a bassplayer who loves drums I still prefer those bluegrass songs without any kind of drums like the other version which is still great thouh. But I think we ate even closer to the essence of the songs and im not a purist at all for anything...just feelings and soul...but this band is one of my biggest discoveries in 3 years...among so much...we have a bluegrass festival here in french alps next ro geneva switzerland...i wish you would come one day..i m not going to concert as often but i never saw a good bluegrass band..and im so into it right now.this genre enterred my life 5 years ago and it s clear i wouldn t be very attract younger because I need a music with a more bass...but this was when i was young and much more ego centred...since i really dig into this side of american music I really love the general talent and musical disposotions and musical backgrounds in rural families etc and the spirituality of it but mixed also with the story of life....the carter familly story is great but it s tge belgium movie the broken circle breakdown ( alabama monroe) who got me in...their version of this tune was my favorite until now.but still a great movie and a cool band.i find this voice more spirited and haunring it s a total fit. I listened all your other stuff and it is great.

"I'm going there to see my father ..."
    tears... tears ... tears ...

funny isn't it that we find such heartfelt and anointed music out side the auditoriums of the church, and such a lack of it inside the walls of worship. Makes you think?? I hate the religious spirit that has taken over most assemblies and cant wait for the day of its fall , soon I hope .

Any thumbs down on this would be out of envy because very few singers or bands from the barns in the u.s.a if any can even come close to it
I think the version in the lounge room is even better so i would say that is two of the top five recordings of it that you guys own and i have watched plenty of recordings to choose from

There is something about Norwegian bands.... The best live performances I saw in my life was by Hurra Torpedo and Wardruna, both from Norway. Please note the lady at 3:24 at the audience. She is crying. I need to see this band live as well, as soon as pandemic is over :)

I am a poor wayfaring stranger
    Traveling through this world alone
There is no sickness, toil nor danger
In that fair land to which I go
I'm goin' home to see my mother
I'm goin' home, no more to roam
I am just goin' over Jordan
I am just goin' over home
I know dark clouds will hover o'er me
I know my pathway is rough and steep
But golden fields lie out before me
Where weary eyes no more will weep
I'm goin' home to see my father
I'm goin' home, no more to roam
I am just goin' over Jordan
I am just goin' over home
I'll soon be free from every trial
This form shall rest beneath the sod
I'll drop the cross of self-denial
And enter in that home with God
I'm goin' home to see my Savior
I'm goin' home, no more to roam
I am just goin' over Jordan
I am just goin' over home
