- Being from Texas I've often wondered what kind of overlanding adventures I might be missing out on. Follow my brother and I as we set out to explore the Texas Hill Country on one of Texas's few overland routes.
Along the way we cross rivers, spot wildlife and set a pretty nice camp for the night along the Llano River. If you enjoyed or got anything from this video please like and subscribe or share with a friend, or both. Both would be pretty rad.
I've lived in the hill country my entire life how havent i heard of this yet! I will most definitely be taking a couple days to drive this rout! Loved the video
Awesome job guys I grew up in lampasas and played in the llano river many times, God bless you and thanks for the video
Great video. I live in Central Texas and have a white Taco 4x4. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Bro... Having a Hot cup of coffee while sitting in a cool river is the Cats meow and that feeling is of the finest Knees of Bees..... Thanks for the vid.
Great video I grew up wheeling California, Utah Arizona and have been doing to get on a trail since moving to Texas.
The overland trail is one of my favorites to just meet up with a few buddies and have a chill drive
Ive done part of the "overland trail" that covers some of this area. Ill have to que this one up too. Great vid!
One of castells few residents here! Awesome video!
So glad I found this channel! Love what you are doing. I live in Texas hill county and have never seen some of what I saw on your videos. Found my next adventure! Thanks so much and keep on posting!
Great loop, done it many times. Would love to join you sometime. I am in New Braunfels. I have a VERY similar Taco
Brings back memories of fun times. Great shots and commentary
Man I'm so glad I came across your channel! Got a Power Wagon and have taken it to Hidden Falls but THIS is my speed. Me and the wife and a cooler with sammich meat meandering through some of the most beautiful parts of Texas! Can't wait to try this!
That's awesome, I hope you enjoy it! Can I ask how you came across the channel?
@@lyleSchmidt honestly bud I was watching reviews on some new toyo tires I just ordered for my truck and you popped up ha! Can I ask how you navigate? Do you download the map off the site then plug it into Google Earth or do you use an actual GPS like a Garmin?
@TGLASS24 yeah, I use Gaia GPS as my primary and OnX Offroad as a backup, both are apps and desktop software. I'll use Google earth just for street view referencing during planning.
@@lyleSchmidt awesome man. Thanks for the info!
Great info- the history lessons were a nice addition.
We just got back a few weeks ago from doing this trail. We camped across the river a bit from where y'all were at for a few days. It's our second time doing it and May is definitely a better time heat wise.
I’m also in Texas, great video! Thanks for the details on where to go Overlanding in TX. I definitely want to do this!!!
Give it a go. Chisholm trail by way and the texas traverseon OnX Offroad are also good options
This is the first video of yours I've seen and I like your work. Do you take amateur radio or GMRS radios for comms when out on the trail?
You've reminded me to get the Jeep back on the trail this fall when it cools off a bit.
Plant to do the full portion of this, were you at Bragg? Enjoy the content, Cheers!
Cool video man, seen this route on OnX off-road, and been wanting to to try it starting on opposite end being that I'm from Longview, awesome rig!
My buddies ranch is the one by your last river crossing. We usually floor it through there
@user-xc2oz3jl2u yeah we definitely did the 2nd and 3rd time we went through it😅
Great video, I love the Llano, Mason and Fredericksburg area and have done part of the Hill Country Trail that I found at OnX. Was that big water crossing on the James River? Also it was cool to hear quotes from Lehman's book, I haven't read that one yet but just finished Captured by Steven Zesch who grew up in the Mason area and is a relative of Adolph Korn, who was also captured by Indians in that area. I look forward to more videos.
Great videos guys, I grew up in Cleburne and live in Azle on Eagle Mt. Lake. Have a deer lease in Mason, about 10 minutes from Wolf Caves, and absolutely love everything about the Hill Country.
@alto-vizproductions5832 thanks man, good luck this fall.
Thank you sir. I’m planning a trip to camp on PINS this coming first part of August, mostly night time photography stuff. I’ve got a well used Gladiator. Keep the vids coming guys.
Howdy, if you are in the Leakey area and looking for a spot i have one that you might enjoy. I grew up in the area and i would have to argue that lums bbq in junction is better than coopers. Ive seen this country from behind the wheel and seeing these drone shots gives it a great perspective. Great job editing.
@@wilsonwj thanks for watching, I'll definitely be giving that a try!
Gum chomping bros 😂
Need to get that gum sponsorships. 🤦🏽♂️
@broncobill3902 yeah didn't even think about it until the moment I started editing
I just moved here from the Utah area. It's been a little hard to find places to camp out in Texas, with 95% privately owned land. I came from a state that had 80% BLM land. Let me know if you make it out to the Corsicana area.
Is this channel the Texas version of TSTN? 🧐😮
I'm sorry, but i can't seem to find the map. Am i missing it. I want to take the trip in my rig.
@mikeblalock9380 googke the hill country tour. Choose overland trail guides website. The map files are at the bottom of the page.
@@lyleSchmidt thank you
Tell him to get his ass back on the PCT and finish it
You gonna blaze an alaska thru? Get spicy with some grizzlies?
