In the summer of 2022, my friends and I set out to conquer one of the most difficult overland routes in North America, The Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail. In total, it took us 9 days off-road, we crossed 3 deep rivers, we ran out of fuel twice, and came dangerously close to rolling our trucks on a sketchy section of the trail that is almost impassible. This is the full movie edit of our adventure.

I lived in that area. My family had grazing rights through that area in the late 60s to 80s... that "Tractor" is actually a horse-drawn harvest/mower. One of four we had. My dad had a worker (named Duncan) mowing, and the thing sank up to its axel in mud... so he left it there... Congrats, guys, you found Duncan's Field! 31:57.

Just want to add one small thing I appreciated about this - the lack of swearing. I watched this with my three boys, ages 2, 4, and 6, and they were riveted the whole time. I agree with you 100%. While I loved the movie, I was shocked that guys weren’t wearing any eye protection when using saws. With no extra drivers, even a corneal abrasion stops the whole trip for a couple days. Just seemed like a simple thing could really strain a super awesome trip. Nonetheless thanks for sharing a great adventure with us!

Fun tip, you can use 2 ratchet straps to compress your suspension on the high side of the trail to keep your top heavy rig more level in those bad off camber situations. Attach one end to the frame, go under your axle, (wrapping the axle once or twice helps prevent the strap sliding around) and then hook it back to the frame again. Then you just crank it on down.

Well just sat and watched the whole trip along the Mackenzie trail .
Totally blown away by the sheer beauty completely untouched wilderness .
Yes there are empty buildings , abandoned vehicles etc .
    Still a wilderness .
The fact you three guys did it unassisted is massive .
The support you have for each other really shines through .
Would I like to do that trip mmmm yes please .

Always listen to the guy with the tallest tippiest truck that got through the obstacle first. Especially when he clearly designed, modified and built his rig and has been wheeling it for ages. That's who you want along on a trip like this. When he's spotting, don't argue. Especially when all the driver can see is his hood and his legit concern is making a wall of anxiety.

33:00 minutes in. The relic is a tractor or horse drawn sickle bar mower. One man would seat upon it. Able to declutch the drive with one lever and another raises and lowers the sickle bar which is fixed to the inside by a hinged connection at the bogey. The turning wheels drive the action via a gearbox and the axle is also the footrest. Yea it's not a tractor. And the fallow deer antler your team member picked up? That's huge for a fallow cast. At least around here we don't see them that broad and long..

When I first saw his rig with the homemade snorkel. My first thought was, "This is the dude that's going to be the MacGyver of the trip and be able to guide and fix anything." I could definitely relate to him saying he was beat at the end. Old leaf spring vehicles are brutal on the bumpy trails, when you're trying to keep up with the more modern 4-link rigs.

If not for him (or someone else equally fit, which is a high bar), at some point they undoubtedly would have decided to turn back and/or gotten stuck or hurt. Braun seems like a prickly fella but that's the kind of guy you need to do something like this.
