The Ranch is my favorite Park in Texas. I love how rugged and remote it is because that limits it to people with high clearance 4x4 vehicles in many campsites. As a result I feel isolated from society and can imagine myself living there in the 19th Century. And oh my God, the stars at night are simply amazing.
All true. Thanks for watching!
It's perfect there. Spent 5 nights camping a couple weeks ago and my grand cherokee couldn't even show me half of the place. I'm fromTexas and have been all over the world, Big Bend region is amazing. I want my ashes spread there when I move on to the next life
Excellent video! I saved the video so that I can watch it again before heading out there. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tried to make it as complete as possible.
This could be a show on Texas Parks & Wildlife on PBS
Thanks, Danny!
This is an exceptional resource, one that I’ve bookmarked for my next trip there. Thank you for putting it together.
You're welcome! I'm glad you like it.
You have done an amazing job showcasing this park and all the how-to's! As a Texan who has been taking trips to the Big Bend area my whole life, I have yet to see the ranch due to not having the vehicle/means to do so. I'm really grateful to be able to experience this Texas gem from your eyes and perspective. Not sure if I'll ever make it to the interior, but would now know what to do to be prepared. Amazing work!
Thank you! You should do what you can to find a way. You won't be disappointed!
Absolutely magical! Need to out there with the new trd pro 4Runner
Do it!
Well done! I love BBRSP, it is a truly unique place and I am continually drawn back to it. Thanks for sharing!

You did a really nice job with this video. Great info. Looking forward to spending a few weeks exploring the State Park.

What a fun video!! I enjoy desert areas - they have a beauty that is special and unique!!!!
I totally agree! Thanks!
Great video. Very informative. I love Big Bend Ranch even more than the national park.
Me too! And thank you!
Beautiful photography and great narration!
Thank you!
Very well done. I saw your post in the BiBe Chat forum and decided to check out your channel.
Thank you for watching.
I came across this park and video when researching for a trip to Big Bend National Park. This seems like a just as good - or even better - place to explore for my next trip. Resources like this are very useful for planning trips, thanks for all the info!
Big Bend Ranch State Park is certainly more remote and wild than the national park. Glad you liked it.
Very informative thank you for sharing
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it.
Great video Tim!
Thanks!
Wonderful video Mr Tim
Thank you ma'am!
Great video. Thank you.

One of the most perfect places in the world
I saw a freaking badger in the backcountry too!
Great video tim!

This is one of my biggest dreams no lie
It's worth finding a way to get there.
Great video!!!
Thank you sir!
Nice work, Tim
Thanks, Chris!
Bravo! Great video!
Thank you!
My dad and grandpa worked and helped build the original park office .
We visited Merus Adventure Park this past March. It was fantastic!
Great video and narration. Sauceda station has ice sometimes so do not plan to rely on it. It does run out and it takes a while to restock.
Thank you! You are correct about the ice. Best to call if you will need some.
Great Video, Tim! We should go hit the trails sometime if we ever get a chance!
Thank you! Your video on the state park was great, as well. Would love to get together!
Big Bend of Texas is a magical place! Don't go in the summer...LOL
I think you can go in the summer. Just be prepared.
Looking forward to more time here this week. More 4x4 roads untraveled. This time I may get to all the rest I have not traveled.
Enjoy!
@@timaugustine3856 thanks, I’m making annual visits from Dallas now. I rarely go to the national park anymore. I love the state park. Nice video!
No joke about how far campsites are, I just stayed at Javelin camp and it was a solid two hours from 170 entrance and the last section you’ll need to be in high clearance 4WD vehicle.
It's definitely not a place you can zip in and zip out at. It is surprising how long it takes to get places.
You think I should have any concerns with a 2” lifted Subbie Forester making it to the campsites? Skid plates optional or mandatory? Thank you!
You should probably be OK in most cases, but some areas are rougher than others. Call the park and ask conditions where you want to go. The park staff are very conservative in their recommendations, so keep that in mind. Conditions change after storms, so it could be better or worse.
Any advice for someone going in January? They say it gets pretty darn cold but they also say it’s still pretty in winter.
It can get cold, and even get a bit of snow, but that is rare. Just go prepared. Warm clothes, layers, all of the things you would do in cold weather. Make sure your sleep system is capable of keeping you comfortable in cold weather. We camped there in January and it was beautiful. Warm days and cold nights. Plan for it, and you will have a good time.
My favorite area is where there is no water = No insects! Well not the little biters and the winged ones. When rinsing off at the end of a dusty day hiking the water attracts little mammals.
That is a lot of commercials on this, non commercialized park.
Why is there footage of a Timber Rattlesnake? These are not found that far west in TX.
I believe that is a Black-tailed Rattlesnake, although I am no authority. It was filmed in the park at the Yedra 2 campsite.
@@timaugustine3856 I think you've got something there. Thanks!
can you fish the river?
Yes you can. Check with a ranger for details or call one of the visitor centers.
next time walk in.
Wish you hadn't used a drone.
Why?
This video is over 30 minutes long...thats a lot of regulations to cover....All these regulations ...Makes for a hassle to simply camp..What happened that all these regulations are necessary...I lost track of when and how to visit this place without breaking rules...Forgettabotit
I think it was all the people who go there completely unprepared. Not the properly setup vehicle, not understanding the severity of the desert. Lots of rescues and people not following the old rules.
Too poor to buy a big fancy 4x4. Looks like I'll have to set out on foot, I drive a small car
You could buy a small used 4x4, but on foot works too. Just don't try anything in the interior of the park in your car, except the main park road.
Could a pick-up with bed mounted camper pulling our FJ40 on a car trailer make it to a campsite? Then we could explore with the Toyota. I'd assume March would be prime time to visit?
I (and undoubtedly the Park staff) would not recommend taking that trailer into the interior of the park. While there are a few campsites close to the main park road, there aren't many. Anything away from the main road would be a no-go for that combination. Your best bet would be to camp at one of the river campgrounds (Grassy Banks or Madera Canyon), then explore from there. March is a great time to go.
@@timaugustine3856 Thank you.
+1 on the Madera sites - they are great.
