I ride a motorcycle, and use active noise, cancellation, AirPods while I ride, because the noise of the wind and the motor get very loud at high speeds. It makes me wonder if the inverse canceling frequency from the AirPods potentially could be harmful? Being that it’s plugging in a frequency that’s just as loud in my ear. So my question is whether or not the active noise cancellation is creating an illusion of a lack of sound, though, still plugging a frequency in at a high volume, or does that inverse frequency, actually negate, and therefore make it safer for using?

First thing is that AirPods are not suggested for hearing protection. They don't do a great job with high-frequencies and the fit can be less precise. Most audiologists suggest dedicated hearing protection for motorcycle riding. On the ANC side of things, ANC cancels out the physical pressure of the sound and your ear gets less stimulation so ANC tends to be safer and isn't adding an "invisible" sound into the mix. Hope this helps!

@@HearSoundly This was one of my biggest concerns, and it was described and answered so perfectly! I was worried about this "invisible" loud sound because I use ANC earbuds in the gym, and I was concerned I was exposing my ears to something potentially harmful without knowing. Thank you so much!

Just get a bike it's completely silent. Why do people get those loud ass motorcycles and then get hearing protection?

@@gehteuchnichtsan7911 cool story bro. Anyhow it's the wind noise that damages your ears and the reason for wearing earplugs on a bike

@@gehteuchnichtsan7911 A silent bike will get you slammed off the road by another vehicle before you get anywhere close to your destination. Often the bike noise is the only thing alerting other motorists to your location.

I have really horrible neighbours and if I don't wear my anc headphones through the day it really affects my mental health. I don't blast my music loud, I'm conscious of volume, but I always have the cancellation on and I worry that's not good for you.

Oh, i didnt expect to find a video comparing what exactly im having a dilemma over about. Ive been planning to get over ear ANC headphones since my college building is often very noisy and i cant concentrate. But my friends also recommend just getting the earplug type of ANC.
My only real problem is that with in-ears, i sweat and the moisture that's trapped inside my ear makes it itch and sometimes get bumps 😅

Please answer: Does the noise cancellation frequencies emitted by the device poses any threat or damage to the ears?

passive noise cancellation over ear headphones is good as well as safe for the ears

hmm headphones seem to let a lot of low frequency noise in so am I wrong. Also noise cancelling how in the world does that stop 95 db sound pressure levels. I get that it cancels what you hear but does that really mean your protected as well ? hard to believe that

ANC itself shouldn't pose any risks to your hearing. Typically it helps keep volumes low which is a net positive. Thanks for watching!
