      Currently have a pair of studio 3’s and had solo 3’s before that, if I need to replace my studio 3’s, I’ll definitely consider the studio pros as AirPods Max are $900 here in Australia, whereas these are almost $400 cheaper and are better than AirPods Max in some ways

When I’m not working, I’m definitely outside with my son, my fiancé and/or her two dogs. We do lots of swimming, walking, biking, even in the heat. Is it bad if I sorta enjoy these videos more than LTT nowadays? These are just so well put together, perfect marriage of information, review, and entertainment, while staying efficient and not dragging on. Just my two cents. Keep it up
    Edit for clarification: I still watch LTT videos all the time, almost every day, and they are super helpful and funny… but I’m just enjoying this fresh new style from MA.

      Considering that LTT has to consistently push content, and has to really dig for some topics when there is not much happening within the industry, I honestly don’t blame you for the sentiment. Most of their videos these days are just so random, whereas Mac Address, whilst occasionally doing more essay style content, seems to always have a new angle to explore because Apple offered a nice variety of content. Moreover, the viewpoint of what I would call an Apple enthusiast offers a unique perspective to those who aren’t all in with the Apple ecosystem. And the inclusion of non-Apple perspectives from co-hosts/subjects further helps flesh out the videos.
      In comparison, LTT is more or less an info dump, or hosts goofing off, which isn’t always appealing. Not to mention LTT videos have a lot more resources when it comes to a lot of tests, so it can often feel a bit more luxury in comparison to what some of its viewers can do.

    • @DasGanon
      @DasGanon 10 місяців тому +24

      I think the other part is just "the format". LTT has always been "quick news, done humorously" and when they did the upgrade to 4K and 8K and 12K you never really noticed it (although it did really help the editors with making it easier to track and record things) but here it's been "Professional" shot since the first video and they went out of their way for that look, so as they improve their workflow (by increasing the team, leaning on LABS, etc) it just improves the professional look.

      I bought mine when they first came out despite having Sony XM-3 that were less than a year old, and I also don’t regret it at all. These are so close to the audio quality of my old wired Sennheiser HD280 Pro studio headphones (and honestly seem possibly slightly better? but it’s hard to tell for sure) that I’ve never looked back.
      One thing that I’ll point out though, in case it ever happens to you, is that over time, the hinges can get gunked up and cause issues with the Maxes where they’ll just disconnect and reconnect randomly constantly. If that happens, pop off the cushions and at the top of each earpiece there’s a tiny hole - rotate the headphones flat and stick a paperclip into that hole to press the release mechanism and slide the earpiece off of the headband, then, with a very clean and dry tissue, wipe the metal end clean on each side of the headband, and then just click the earpieces back on to the correct side and you’ll get your headphones back without constantly disconnecting. It’s extremely easy to do, and you only need to do it once if you start having that problem. I imagine mine will be good for at least another year or two without needing to do that again.

    Now to weigh in to overear vs earbuds, why not just have both? I have a few pair of wireless earbuds, wired IEMs and wireless headphones that I will swap and change between depending on the songs I listen to and the weather. Earbuds and IEMs are definitely better for the hot, tropical weather where I am, whereas overears like my Sony WH1000XM3 are great for getting lost in music when I'm alone in my air-conditioned room.
    That said, lately I realize I've been using my wired IEMs more because I find my wireless earbuds(Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro) just don't get loud enough, so I will be in that small camp that buys phones exclusively with 3.5mm headphone jacks.

    I tried the new beats in store, and its probably the worst headphone I've tried from a sound quality perspective.
    I have neutrally tuned IEMs, and a higher end headphone, but I mostly compared them against the Maxes in store and against my Sony XM5. Just because they are neutral does not mean they do a good job of getting that across, it sounded very mid-centric, with no bass impact or any detail in the highs. So things like cymbals came off very very dull and muted, and the low rumble of the guitar was absent.
    In my opinion its an absolute waste of money, you are better off getting any of the other competition or sticking with the airpods pro 2.

    As someone who basically bike commutes everywhere, the Sony XM4's are where it's at. The automatic ANC in the XM5's is horrible for wind and traffic, while the 'wind reduction'-mode of the XM4 is absolutely amazing. I still hear things happening around me, but the wind noise is so much less. This is probably a very Dutch issue, though.

      Seconded. The QC45 are often overlooked but the overall package is great. And the SE version (doesn't have a hardcase, just a pouch), can be really cheap.

    If I were looking for a pair I'd buy whatever set has an analog input - I also have non Bluetooth devices. My iPhone normally never touches music as Apple's current music player UI and music management just frustrate me. Their iPods of 15 years ago and a matching install of iTunes was far less clumsy. (I think I also prefer the UI on Macs from 15 years ago, but that's another story)
    I tend to use wired in-ears most of the time, they just work. I do have Blutooth sets - I had a pair of Sony BT in ears that were okay - until the batteries wore out after a couple years; then tried a set of the original Powerbeats Pros - but one or the other earpiece fails to connect about 40% of time unless I put them back in the case and pull them out again so they tend to get ignored. Meanwhile my Sennheiser in-ears are at least 10 years old, sound better, work with everything, and nothing has ever gone wrong with them.

    Is the mic usable while using the cable? Was there a difference in quality between usb-c vs aux playback? Does the aux port allow you to use an external dac, or does it force you to use the dac in the headphones?

    Fairly good production. It’s fun to watch the improvements! I’m in so much of the apple ecosystem, but after owning two pairs of beats over the years I’m still a Sony guy. They kind of destroyed key functionality with the XM5s, so here I sit my XM3s still going strong.

    i use a crappy corsair wireless headset for most of my gaming, but my real go-to is a set of 1976 pioneer SE-505 quad speaker headphones on a big DAC. they have a fantastic flat sound stage, because these were designed originally for audio editing and recording, and you needed the most accurate representation of the production. mine were scored at a garage sale for way too little money, and were incredibly well preserved. the bass is shockingly deep and hard hitting, the highs are sharp and crisp, the cups are massive poofy soft rings that you can easily pop off to clean, the strap is spring steel and is wrapped in leather. the only drawback is they weigh almost 2 pounds! good thing im used to wearing things like welding helmets!

    i still use my Bose QCII, they work well in any noise cancelling environtment, they can fold, they have really nice earpads, the clamping force is quite low, but they are really light. they do lack the apple features (just like the sonys), but i think i always prefer the bose over the beats

    Unless I'm reading the frequency chart incorrectly, these aren't "more neutral" than the Sony's, in fact they appear to be more V shaped which is effectively the opposite of neutral. I can't say if they sound good or not, but it's not really correct to describe these as neutral

    Been using Beats Studio since the 1,0 back in the day. Switched to the second one when it released, and then the 3rd. But the build quality always came with issues (cracks in the plastic after about 6 months) so I saved up and bought the AirPods Max about a year ago instead... Best switch ever. I feel I need to add that I use my headphones 3-5h a day so Its nothing crazy but apparently it was too often for the Beats... 🤣✌

    As nice as wireless headphones are, I've swallowed the Dankpods pill on them after having to warranty my AirPods Pro set. I've got some AKG's here that I've had for longer than the Airpods and they've never failed me. ANC and so on no longer feels as good as it was (especially with my backup buds that are just some cheap wired things).
    Did love the outdoor setting of the video (also love to see some Canadian railway stuff too!)

    I’ve always had Sony headphones and always found them to be pretty awesome. I wonder what the top of the heap in headphones would be, I’m assuming Sennheiser ?

    • @Alepap.
      @Alepap. 10 місяців тому

      If you mean by sound alone, then for closed back 99% are not really that good, they have a very colored tuning that appeals to the general population and its expectations on how it should sound.
      Sennheiser gets really good when you look at their open back, wired models , like HD 6xx, 600 and 650, or 800s for soundstage but tuning is controversial end it's an expensive pair.
      For wireless, closed back, if you don't care for anc and features, the best thing that exists right now is Audeze Maxwel. Nothing even comes close in terms of open back.
      And if money isn't an obstacle the sky is the limit with Hifiman and Focal, or Sennheiser HE-1 xD

    What I want is a pair of over the ear headphones with excellent natural sound quality and easy connectivity *WITHOUT* noise cancellation. I find ANC really uncomfortable and disconcerting and don't want to have to pay extra for it. Oh and good physical controls.

    • @CanIHasThisName
      @CanIHasThisName 10 місяців тому +1

      You'll pay extra either way. The demand for premium portable wireless overears without ANC is microscopic. Anything like that would only be done in small runs and as such it would cost a lot more, and honestly probably more than similar headphones with ANC which could be produced at high enough quantities. To make things worse, natural sound is not popular, people usually prefer the muddied bass heavy signature of Sony. Even Sennheiser went that route.

    I switched from over the ear due to the gym/ sure the bass hit harder which I do like, but the extra sweat, and fact that they would start to malfunction if I didn’t keep taking them off and air out the moisture inbetween sets made me switxh.
    I know use 29$ Canadian JLab air pops. They are great, batteries good and the bass mode sounds great.

    I eventually went with the Sony XM4 because of the folding and the smaller case. It's better for travelling IMHO. Otherwise it would have been the XM5. I've worn over the ear headphones for years and I prefer the fit and feel of them.
