- Some on social media claim that wireless ear buds are unsafe because of radiation from electromagnetic frequencies. But even though research is not conclusive about prolonged use, it's prompted the comeback of classic wired headphones. NBC’s Vicky Nguyen reports for TODAY.

All of a sudden we’re all scientists
Ik right 😅
Gotta love Tik Tok for empowering everyone to say what everyone else are saying for “educational content”
I mean... Anyone CAN be a scientist, especially now with all of human knowledge at our fingertips...
I'd rather believe independent studies, over an official study said for by the industry
It really all comes down to “is this radiation ionizing?” If it’s below ultraviolet probably not
My European teacher for physics who is super smart was always saying to us to put off our phones in class and never put it near your balls because it can lower the quality of sperms which is scientifically proven.
She says there needs to be more research done to see what the effects would be on your entire health and putting wireless earphones in your ears (not a lot of research, companies blocking research). But to be sure, put all those devices in airplane mode during class for our health.
Sometimes you can’t rely on science because it is monitored by profiting companies. So use your common sense if there is not a lot of research out yet.
People scared about radiation, but filming the videos on their cellphones. *facepalm*
I was so upset hearing about the radiation I had to have a cigarette.

Although the sound quality can be better, the actual reason musicians use wired earphones is due to the unavoidable latency of Bluetooth devices. It is interesting how just a tiny fraction of a second, makes the difference between useable and unusable for recording.
In the first place TikTok is the wrong place to get educated trustable information.
That’s why the TikTok ban is justifiable

i still use wired headphones. i dont like wireless. wired is much faster to use, better audio quality, no need to charge and lower chance of losing it.
And a not less expensive.
Wired headphones are not necessarily cheaper than wireless ones. You'd be surprised how much people pay for some studio hardware, which is always wired.
Amen!
how are wireless headphones easier to lose than wired ones? earbuds I understand, but headphones? You are just as likely to misplace wireless headphones as wired.
My biggest complaint with wireless is the latency. Even with top quality headphones the latency when doing anything other than watching stuff is noticeable.
I used to like wired headphones, and do have many advantages. However I was always snagging them on objects whilst doing things listening to music. I've saved so much money since going wireless because I don't have to worry about my headphone wires breaking anymore and that dreaded left or right ear drop.
Wait till these people find out about bananas 😂😂😂
???
@@pleasantdreams6216 because of the high potassium content bananas are slightly radioactive
They're gonna go crazy
that comparison isn't valid as one is organic matter and the other one is purely syntheic/inorganic technological material
I always preferred wired headphones. I dislike having another thing I need to charge.
I like wireless headphones...
Facts
@@banealot1499 I sleep with them. I hated sleeping on the wire. I replace earbuds A LOT less now that I've been using Bluetooth. Plus.... I can leave my phone FAR away from me and still can hear it. I hate the wire.

People are so dumb about radiation
Intuition is not that far from truth. If it feels bad it is most times. If you feel bad about something dont do it. Listen to your heart your mind and your beliefs.
That's true. Most don't know much about EMFs and what effects they can cause on some people.
think of the old cell phones of the 1990s
It’s not the same technology as the 90s those were dangerous using microwave technology. Bluetooth technology is very different technology. If you watch the interview they said it’s safer. You’re getting inundated by other signals that are much stronger every we’re you go in daily life. You don’t want to wear metal wrap stuff on your head to stop signals and look crazy.
@@user-rl7mt4gh3o Imagine someone still using a classic Nokia 3310. That person must have grown an extra head by now 😂😂😂😂.
People had the same concern about cell phones in the early 2000s. I know some people who refused to get a cell phone bc of radiation to the brain. We were advised back then to talk on speaker or use headphones (and the only option for headphones back then was wired.)
And it’s still advised today
Poor Carson… he thought Al was having a senior moment. 🤣🤣🤣 Al is like “Bruh it’s LITERALLY called a dongle.”
Yeah, and the word has been around at least since the 70s; the “dongles” I know of from then were for software copy protection.
Wait till those TikTokers find out that Radio waves for you know old school radio have been passing through people’s body for over 100 years. Cellphones use radio waves to communicate to cell “nodes”. WiFi is also Radio Waves. Most modern device operate over the 2.4GhZ frequency making it actually Microwaves. Microwaves emitted from Cellphones, WIFI, Bluetooth headphones have far less energy than the microwave oven which is like 700 to 1200 watts. Bluetooth has the weakest energy of all the wireless tech we own only having a reach of 30 to 100 feet (latest Bluetooth standard). WIFI is has next highest energy of hundreds of feet (walls and object in signal path can reduce this). Cellphones need to reach thousands of feet to cell nodes (towers are no longer needed as Cell “nodes” can be installed on utility poles and even on buildings). Radio Broadcasts need to travel miles and have the highest energy.
Radio and other sources of transmited information are measured in herzes. The more the frequency the more the exposure so if it is 100mhz its less than 2.4ghz. Less hz less radiation.
Yeah but they are not right next to your brain
Just wait until they learn that light is a visible radio wave and heat is also radiation… 😂
What about the voices I hear when I am not wearing ear buds?
That's ok. Just tell it to shut up!
😢
Voices hearing halucinations are from listening music too loud and for a long time. Very agressive fast music with bad words and noises is bad too.
@SkyhighStarlight
Not at all. Sorry. Not true
@@morbidmanmusic What then true? Are you guys just say no just to troll? Loud music can make you deaf.
Tiktok makes me question America's literacy rate every now and then
Non-ionizing is the CRITICAL part of this. All frequencies that technology uses occur naturally. Those frequencies are harnessed to be used as the carrier for information (1s and 0s). We amplify the naturally occurring signal and modulate it to send the info we want.
Those power levels are tested and verified to be safe by our governing bodies around the world as well as independent scientists and engineers.
There is no conclusive evidence that the RF signals used in consumer tech or for Cellphones is harmful. Exposure to the sun provides a MUCH higher risk for damage than any consumer technology we current use. If you are looking to reduce risk use sun screen while looking at your phone outside. It’ll do more than worrying about the RF energy.
Signed an RF Engineer
The problem is that people can get sick from EMFs. It's not as harmless as some think.
@@Merializer Yes in industrial, commercial or military situations there is risk to be exposed to large amounts of EMF radiation but of course there are precautions to prevent harm. Like warning signs, restricted access to certain areas where antennas are located. There is no doubt that high levels of RF Radiation are bad, but normal consumer devices don’t even approach those power levels. So I don’t seem them as comparable in this discussion.
@@pruett89 you are right, but I meant there are also people like me who react to very low levels of EMF. Just to make you aware. I can measure what I feel, it's no mystery or imaginary thing anymore as some have claimed in the past.
Contrary to popular opinion, there is some evidence to suggest harm from non ionising radiation, we know RF waves can cause oxidive stress in cells but we don’t know what the implications of that are. Which is kind of implied in the video, we have observed no directly effect in the past 2 decades so we can deem it as safe is the logic.
I guess it’s a fair assumption, but i would not be surprised if we discovered there was some cumulative effect decades down the line in the same lieu of cigarettes. Life’s too short to worry about stuff like this.
As usual, Social media giving the crazies of the world a voice 😅
sometimes everyone a voice isn't a good thing. suddenly everyone that has a voice is an expert and giving advice on things they have no idea about
Literally was going to make this comment. These are probably the same uneducated people saying the COVID vaccine had nanites and it lets the US Government track their location. 💀
Yeah because experts are so trustworthy these days xD. I prefer a world with everyone's input even the quacks than a world where we give all the power of regulations to "experts" because that truly spells disaster!
@@WheresMyMotivation woke 🤡 spotted
I saw a video about pretty much the same topic on a fox local news channel earlier. Of course everyone in the comments were agreeing that it was dangerous. Go figure
Before tik tok there were alot of people that knew about radiation
i dont need RF device to measure it, my sudden headache will measure how bad it is. i have a bunch of different kinds of bluetooth and wireless devices, some of them gave me a sudden headache, as in just connecting them, it will gave me a shocking feel why suddenly i got headache then analyze what i just did lately then the only assumption i had is bluetooth connection because thats the only i did, then after turning it off, it will gradually turning off my headache.
Mold toxicity can result in sensitivity to EMFs which can result in strokes. My mother has this issue, and has had multiple strokes. You should look into mold toxicity, (there are plenty of videos on yt about it) to see if you have the symptoms.
I came for the story, but stayed for the dongle jokes!😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But I personally like feeling like I'm in the song/ recording studio when I have my buds in!🤦♀🤦♀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don't get information from social media 😔
Is it specifically with ear buds or wireless headphones in general?
Don't listen to people online.

Hey remember when everyone was scared of 5G cellular microwaving our insides 😂
Hahaha it's funny until you are visiting an oncologist office! -_-
This reminds me of people who down a network tower because of radiation bs
I'll pay you to sleep right next to a network tower for a week straight but you shouldn't worry about any health problems down the line Mr. "I've got it all figure out"
The biggest risk from these in stupid ear headphones.....are mostly ear infections.....can causing damage to the ear cannel
I have noticed that earbuds make my ear produce ear wax almost instantly! Like within a couple of ours instantly!
I use wired at home and bluetooth when outside or working out.
Im just gonna keep regular wired headphones
Not me listening through my wireless buds 😂
don't worry about Bluetooth... worry about the junk food we all consume. and the polluted water we all drink
People who think cellphones, wireless earbuds have harmful radiation, need to get their head checked. Absolute insantity.
Actually high cellphone use(e.g. 10 years) has been correlated with brain tumor(gliobastoma) development. Sweden (2004)was the first country to issue a “warning” relating to possible health risks related to cell phone usage. In the US cell phone carriers have strong lobbyists in the US government. Every industrialized country in the world has issued some sort of cell phone use warning(especially for children) except the U.S.
correct. cell phones has many many studies on it showing a correlation
@@daw7773 But notice that it wasn't associated with face/head SKIN cancer NOR temporal bone cancer nor cancers of the EAR...
It's absolutely safe to dismiss that correlation for those reasons.
I have seen a woman at the gym who 🚿 rinse wearing her ear buds 🥶😲
@@overcomingwithin correlation does not equal causation
he never received any education in his "medical" schools concerning EMF. I heard it was on small paragraph. I've measured the radiation and refuse bluetooth especially that close to the brain.
There are certain individuals that get headaches when using bluetooth earbuds and headphones, it also depends on the person since not everyone will have the same headaches or migraines when using bluetooth earbuds and headphones but there's a possibility. It sucks that it effects those individuals because they want to use something wireless but they can't use them because of effects that they get from using something related to using something wireless.
Yup. I can't use any in-ear or cheap over-ear bluetooth headphones or use my cellphone next to my head because of headaches.
We're still doing this? Everyone said that when cellphones were new. And crt tvs before that.
I lived in my wireless headphones. While they were still actually headphones. And was diagnosed with oral cancer at 30. Near my left ear. I have my answer on this subject. 🤷
They're making earbuds sound like Chernobyl 😭 "frying her neurons" cmon bro. Im glad some people are recognizing dangerous rhetoric
Different kind of radiation sheet for brains
I started getting tinnitus after wearing wireless headphones..
that's why get headphones or earphones that you can store music in so that you don't have to connect it to anything.
Wired earbuds need to be made more premium again.
Why does my fitbit cause me arm pain?!
Lots of things we use produce radiation its very normal
The biggest problem with wireless earbuds is they lessen attentiveness- in middle and high schools, its difficult to see them in students ears. You tell them what an assignment is, and they are listening to music and pretending to pay attention. Its very frustrating and the kids are quite skilled at hiding their gadgets.
She just literally put the Apple wired headphones back out lol 😂
That cell phone your using, has much more than the cell phone.
So what you going to toss the cell phone now?
You can’t say dongle on TV 😂😂😂
I will never go back to wired headphones
The research will never be conclusive!
At this point we all should know
Wait till they find out about shoes.....
The EU did tests years ago about cell phones with data that showed an increased risk of brain cancer, so this would make sense.
Well, this random person just made a comment on UA-cam about there being a study, so it must be true... except it's not. Studies have been done, and they've shown no increased rates of cancer
@@EdwardsNH Many conclusions of "safety" have been done BY the cell phone industry. A recent study by NIH of meta analysis of valid studies not funded by the cell phone industry show significant increased risk in brain tumors. This is the conclusion from the study "In sum, the updated comprehensive meta-analysis of case-control studies found significant evidence linking cellular phone use to increased tumor risk, especially among cell phone users with cumulative cell phone use of 1000 or more hours in their lifetime (which corresponds to about 17 min per day over 10 years), and especially among studies that employed high quality methods. Further quality prospective studies providing higher level of evidence than case-control studies are warranted to confirm our findings."
A good rule of thumb is: If Europe isn't doing it we shouldn't either.
So cellphones don’t have radiation? We used them more than we do earbuds
Weird how people think AirPods will give you cancer, yet won’t take sunscreen seriously.
I'm a highly sensitive person who can feel energy and all that. I haven't felt a difference with wireless headphones or with wifi. I've gone with and without both. Other people's negativity has had more of a negative effect on me than wifi or wireless headphones. Many people forget they have energy too, and if they're ignorant about the energy they're putting out there, that is WAY worse than wifi or Bluetooth.
Some people like me are sensitive to EMF though.
I fry my neurons every time I go online
1:57 I was not expecting that part of the report 🤣😭😭😭😭💀 "My skull's getting deformed." Holy crap, I'm on the floor. Help.

There’s radiation everywhere lol the doctor is right the only thing to actually worry about is the volume levels.
Only 18 years?
one of my best wired headphones cost under 15 dollars. if you want good sound, source file and DAC quality is more important imo
I don’t understand why the people are saying about the radiation from wireless earphones because we are surrounded by radiation everywhere every day that is more of a concern
Yeah it's all bad what's your point?
3:53 I missed watching all of your chemistry, I used to wake up everyday to you guys❤️😂
True audiophiles (like me) will always use wired headphones/IEMs. They do sound better - in many cases, substantially better since you can pair them with amp/dacs and listen losslessly. Wireless ones have their place but are generally are never a primary listening devices.
I use Samsung 'beans' (they're great!) for years and never had an issue or headache. Those wires are always on the way and you feel like entrapped by them. I guess is also a matter of getting use to. I do not think i could come back to wired.
Carson Daly telling me about wired headphones was not on my bingo card for 2024😅
personally, i dont want more electrosmog next to my brain, if i can avoit it!.... no problem with having "cabled" devices!

just people getting into to the rumors too much. I myself have gone full wireless with headphones and earbuds but I still own 1 of each that is wired like I have that Apple wired and I have an Audio Technica wired but of course I have Airpods and I use Bose headphones
Why no is talking about radiation from smartphones? I remember this used to be a thing like 20 yrs ago.
Sometimes if a gang takes over a store they'll be crack in headphones for reasons that don't entirely make sense
Use a speaker, save your ears from radiation and tinnitus, share your music with the world.
You've got more chance getting tinnitus if you listen loud. Best way is.Everything in moderation I guess.
Something they should know is that you don’t need the dongle! Apple makes USB C headphones 😊
The debate is does radiation affect mood and sleep
I have AirPods Max its over ear phone ...and button headphones are so much better than wired one
thats definitely something they would do, safe and effective headphones
Nooo duh. Alex been telling us this
Who thinks that his voice is like Luke Bryan? 😂
They downplay the risks saying that it isn't producing ionizing radiation which is true but what they don't tell you is that it in fact does cause oxidative stress on cells which can lead to cellular dysfunction or senescence. Try growing a plant next to your home's Wi-Fi router and see for yourself.
If you have oxidative stress, it'll eventually mess with your sleep too. If you're not get enough restful sleep, it'll start causing other health problems too.
$100-200 or
Most phones don't even have wire phone plugs
You have to use USB-C headphones instead of the older 3.5mm.
They will have minijack again. Europe union can force all phone companies to have earphone port.
I wish they would bring it back. So much more convenient to use wired headphones.
Connect the dots by asking yourself: Why oh why are they making it harder for us to use wired earphones? Truth is usually in plain sight if you just take off your blinders.
There’s a defense department scientific paper that does not really agree with the statement being made...
But health safety concerns are routinely undermined by economic interests and social engineering agendas.
Remember the issue back when "5g" connection is introduced where people panicked....same goes now with the wireless earphones 😂
Anyone watched this with wireless headphones?
These TikTokers won't be missed when Tiktok is finally gone
I sleep with my beats headphones sometimes so Idc it is what it is. If something happens I guess I'll be the example of what happens.
TLDR: No. Just keep your volume low. Like we already knew.
Dr. John Torres didn't mention how cellphone signals generate free radicals. That is, low frequency radio waves do cause oxidative stress on cells which cause the generation of free radicals. This may, then, indirectly cause damage to DNA. (This is a complex topic. My only point: you should have an expert who knows, at the least, that low frequency radio waves can also damage DNA.)
Nope… I thought for about 8 years that there was, but if the news says then it must be false.
Bait and switch report
I have one better, social media is cancer.
Wow. I sleep nightly with my AirPods in for ASMR. I guess I’ll find out in a few years? 😌
I hope I get superpowers from mine!
Here with my 64 Audio U12T that is $1900, I'm the true wired IT girl
Look out! I heard the sun puts out radiation! Also, you are radioactive so make sure you don't sleep next to someone. ... I feel like this turned into a commercial for wired headphones. lol
I don't care so much about the radiation as I keep my phone in my pocket when I'm outside, and I use the 4G as well as GPS, sometimes I even tether WiFi. I care about audio quality, so I still keep my wired headphones at home
There is different types of radiation
Good! Let peoples ignorance bring down the price of these things.
Since when is tiktok a reliable source?? 🤔🤔
It’s astonishing what women can make a successful social media account about
I don’t understand why we do these stupid segments. One things for sure, always turn on your headphones safely on your phone to keep your ears protected. And maybe not wear those big headphones. Just earbuds.
