The term “passive noise cancelling” seems to me to have fallen out of favor and been replaced by “noise isolation”. The packaging on headphones sold today reflects this change, at least in the US
@@Jaur-jaur 'Noise isolation' (as I understand it) refers to earbuds that fit in-ear, like a plug or over-ear cover. They isolate your ear from sound (except of course the sounds from their speakers). A cheap to produce approach and no real tech, just a physical sound barrier in or around your ear. Well yes *passive* noise cancellation is probably an ancient concept . You know how covering your ears with anything makes it less loud , so obviously people came up with these headphones long ago that do nothing fancy , it just sits on your head and reduces noise. This was just exaggerated in cartoons for comedy. *Active* noise cancelling headphones are much more complex and hence were conceptualized much later.
When people read "noise canceling" they really thought it'll drown ALL of their surrounding like an ear muffler. No buddy, it only drowns MOST of the low frequency sound like a humming plane/car/train, a small crowd talking from a distance etc. If you want to block sound FULLY then buy an ear muffler instead and stuck it in with a wireless bud for music
The problem also is: the headphone has to listen first and then can create the opposite soundwave , so you always have some latency, hence it's impossible to get a 0 volume of noise
i prefer getting the loudest speakers and blasting them so loud that everyone else leaves from getting headaches whilst im chilling being half deaf from them talking so loud
Is there any delay that makes this technology inconsistent? Because when the headphones listen and create a wave, it's already too late, the crowd sound has already changed. Some of the waves gonna be the same if the overall crowd sound is the same but most of them gonna change even just one millisecond after, with different frequencies so this seems impossible to create a good noise cancellation because of the delay. Am I missing something?
I can't stand not being able to hear my surroundings. I work in construction and even wearing earplugs annoys me for the same reason but I like my hearing so it's worth it.
Umm actually nowhere in the video says that sound waves have peaks and valleys. It just implies that the headphones create a total opposite sound wave of the noise, ( *which if those wave are converted into transversal waves* ) would make a peak for every valley and vice versa.
I dunno but I think as a Science class person in High School and based on my search I ll explain this: We know that waves are classified in 2 kinds: longitudinal and transversal But actually even *sound is transversal wave,* *you can represent is as Sine wave* (means you can make function of sounds in sine) I think the correct statement is that : We can represent sound as Sine wave rather than sound wave (albeit it may sound true) which has peak and valley Some person who ever take any Psychic class may catch it as incorrect since the waves are classified as 2 kind in high school (which is correct) since it is based on *movement of waves* What I want to say also is that: 1. Sound is longitudinal based on how it is transmitted (parallel) 2. I think the first comment is untrue 3. Sound, represented as Sine wave has peaks and valley 4. You can represent any wave as Sine wave Correct me if I am wrong, thank you

Wrong, they let it in, but cancel it.
When people read "noise canceling" they really thought it'll drown ALL of their surrounding like an ear muffler. No buddy, it only drowns MOST of the low frequency sound like a humming plane/car/train, a small crowd talking from a distance etc. If you want to block sound FULLY then buy an ear muffler instead and stuck it in with a wireless bud for music
you should mention it when you're sponsored
The problem also is: the headphone has to listen first and then can create the opposite soundwave , so you always have some latency, hence it's impossible to get a 0 volume of noise
There's a song with the same kind of tune as that in the start. I can't remember it. Can someone help me?
Ash ` I’m have the exact same issue!! I need to know! Did you ever find it?
Ash ` bedroom by litany?
Listening to the song right now, and it sounds different from the background track from the video.
can we wear noise cancelling headphone while working with fibregation, metal drilling or metal grinding ?
i prefer getting the loudest speakers and blasting them so loud that everyone else leaves from getting headaches whilst im chilling being half deaf from them talking so loud
What a great innovation and way they are describing it is awesome too✌
Wow...i feel so informed right now....so simple....thanks
I was about to buy the bose and saw alot of videos and now this?
I can't stand not being able to hear my surroundings. I work in construction and even wearing earplugs annoys me for the same reason but I like my hearing so it's worth it.
You girls actually put headphone over the hair and tell
"Poor quality and no noise cancellation"
Right like what goes through their mind
True... they should put their hair back first then wear the headphones
could you people be more sexist? there are people who wear even wear right over their ears and not over their hair
Darshana Balakrishnan that’s not sexist...
I know, I’m a girl and I get so mad when other girls do that
What an insightful and educational video. Thanks for the knowledge. 👍
GOD Bless the inventors of this technology 😌
Not just noise cancelling headphones but post makes the best speakers and surround systems in the world
Dude sound waves don’t have peaks and valleys for gods sake. Sound waves are longitudinal 🤦♂️
Lmao I just noticed
*They should remake the video*
Umm actually nowhere in the video says that sound waves have peaks and valleys.
It just implies that the headphones create a total opposite sound wave of the noise, ( *which if those wave are converted into transversal waves* ) would make a peak for every valley and vice versa.
The waves shown are not the physical vibrations of air but the magnitude of air pressure with time (amplitude).
I dunno but I think as a Science class person in High School and based on my search I ll explain this:
We know that waves are classified in 2 kinds: longitudinal and transversal
But actually even *sound is transversal wave,* *you can represent is as Sine wave* (means you can make function of sounds in sine)
I think the correct statement is that :
We can represent sound as Sine wave rather than sound wave (albeit it may sound true) which has peak and valley
Some person who ever take any Psychic class may catch it as incorrect since the waves are classified as 2 kind in high school (which is correct) since it is based on *movement of waves*
What I want to say also is that:
1. Sound is longitudinal based on how it is transmitted (parallel)
2. I think the first comment is untrue
3. Sound, represented as Sine wave has peaks and valley
4. You can represent any wave as Sine wave
Correct me if I am wrong, thank you
Nice Ad. Quite interesting and informative.
Interestingly bose invested heavily on vehicle smooth suspension technology using same noise cancellation technique .
I was absolutely blown away by my BOSE 700
Listening on my XM3s👑
How are they different from earplugs? Are they making same effect?
It somehow gives me headaches to listen with those
Will they block out the vibrations of heavy base soundbar. Does that even makes sense? 🧐
Bose's noise cancellation feature in their wireless earbuds are amazing but it has poor speaker quality. You have to speak a lot louder during calls.
I had bought the newest Bose Headphones at the end of last year the 700 Headphones I love them they are by far the best headphones I’ve ever used noise cancelling headphones are the best headphones period.
Cory CG what about sound?
2:35 from then on is the explanation, saved you 2.5min
I always thought they just have really good ear muffs, i never knew it was a type of sound that plays
I have the exact same headphones on your video! The Bose quiet comfort. Great vid btw, very informative
Loo
New York Swiss Cougar seems like a good brand. Just started using them & so far so good👌🏻
I'd buy a pair if they could cancel out the ringing in my ears😏
Bruh same
Watching this on noise-cancelling headphones
I got them yesterday and I was tripped out on how it works
Well it made me deaf. When my mom was calling me I didn't hear it so she just came to me and took my freebuds out of my ear😂
