I won’t go into why I feel this way, so I’ll just say Joyce Meng: the best interviewer on UA-cam, and Dario Nardi: the best teacher on UA-cam. I’m glad you have teamed up on so many UA-cams, and I especially like this series.

I have never felt more validated than in the description of the normalizing ENFP!! I am quiet and observant and so I often test INFP! I love puzzles and work in tech because it all feels like Te problem solving to me

It's maybe a bit subtle throughout, but letting Dario's Ni and Te work it's magic here is truly a great work by Joyce.

I liked when you said ENFP the type that will literally fall off the stage because its so true 😭, I've always wondered what I would need to do to curb that kind of physical unawareness, other than practice ig 😩.
I feel like the difference between the dominant types creating an experience and the harmonizing/normalizing types trying to set up an experience is that an experience is only real if it just happens. Like you can turn on the lights the cameras and action to replicate an experience and get people thinking about a situation but they're only going to garner a deep understanding and come to their own creative conclusions if it's something they experience naturalistically. It's like a difference between architecture and chemistry - you can blueprint and build something but it's never going to exceed its blueprint, whereas if you get all the right elements together and stir them into a good pot in the right environment you can allow nature to take hold in a way that only it can.
To take away some of the vagueness to that last sentence, i guess what I mean by that is the way that elements can mix and match to change something permanently and create something entirely different from the sum of its parts i suppose for better or worse, the hope is good shit in, good shit out I suppose.

I feel embarrassed saying all that, but I had to comment, some of these mbti videos feel so oddly surreal to me in their quality and relatability i guess. i think that means you guys are doing a great job 😁

Crafty Producer - ESTP Superego (shadow Se-Ti focus)
Eclectic Wanderer - ENFP Ego (Ne-Fi focus)
Secret Agent - ISTJ Aspiration (Si-Te focus)
Dedicated Advocate - INFJ Shadow (Ni-Fe focus)
A 4 types are concerned with character both in themselves and with others. ENFPs do this via justification. Knowing motives and comparing if behaviors can be justified or not.

Great video! I love how Nardi really felt to me like he understood al of the nuances of the different types of ENFP. I relate to both Normalizing and Harmonizing (maybe more towards the normalizing, but ever since I was very young, I've been that "free therapist" for EVERYBODY, so that makes it harder for me to think which one fits best).
I also loved how he mentioned the ISTJ side of ENFPs, towards the end, because I tend to tap into that side quite often while, as far as being a bit stoic and direct in my approach with my friends during "therapy" sessions, when they can't see reality or consequences of their crazy actions (a switch from the fun bubbly ENFP to the "truthfully directly side of our personalities, which is what my friends and family love...that I can tactfully and creatively tell them the truth about how they're haphazardly coming across and living their lives).
Ok I'm starting to ramble lol. Thank you Joyce for doing this series! It's great! You were great at facilititating, as usual. Thanks again and can't wait to watch the others.

Aloha Dario, Starting on my 69th journey around the Sun, & listening to you speak about the 4 subtypes a 2nd time, took me back to different periods of my life. I definitely can relate to parts of each 4 subtypes. Well on the seniors years of my journey, l hope to enjoy the harmonizing ENFP phase of my adventure….. Mahalo!!!

ENFP-Creative/Harmonizer here. Dario said some very true things about me as I embody this type preference. Many of them I knew about myself, others that I could never have articulated. When he said THOSE, however , I knew immediately they were Truth with a capital “T”. Well done, Dario! I always learn from you. 👏
Cheers to Joyce for skillful interviewing, as always. 🤗

Brilliant - as I have entered my late mid thirties I have at times questioned my type- this only confirms I have just developed other subtypes, I now relate mostly to the normalising / harmonising - far less chaotic(at least in practice , as I have learnt lessons and wisdom over time.

Simply great hangout and talk. Some of the subtypes hit hard and deeply explain the intentions and the why we do what we do. It is both inspiring and motivating to hear more science behind subtypes.

Hi! I've been watching this for three times now from the day it was uploaded. I typed myself as an ENFP. And I lean towards the creative subtype, since I realized that a lot of the things I do may seem odd and quirky to others, but I love it! I remember a time when we're supposed to make a resume in High School as a practice when we apply to jobs and I just cannot imagine making it boring. I know it may not be what the teacher is expecting...but I make it as pink and bold otherwise. If I put my mind to it, I could easily learn a skill like playing Ukulele, Darts, Scrabble, Baseball, Basketball. The only problem is I cannot stick to it long enough to master it. Going back to the Ukulele reference, I know difficult songs that I extremely love but I can't say I'm good at it since I can't play mainstream songs that others expect me to play. I can sometimes have that hawk-eye vision towards things I obsess with like me venturing into brewing coffee. I'm extremely forgetful to the point of needing to go back to the house to get my tumbler and still leaving it in the car afterwards or needing to come back to the arcade because I left my phone...which happened to be yesterday. I study Accountancy and I feel like I'm tapping more into the normalizing and a bit of the harmonizing because the course necessitates the most form of structure I need to muster up. It's very challenging and I sometimes feel like it's draining blood from my body. I feel the worst when I wear boring and normal clothes to class because I feel like I'm not confident enough, that I don't know enough. It's hard to cope up but I'm getting energy from teaching my peers ways to understand concepts better. Sometimes, the lessons are just hard because they use highfalutin words, when they could just present it this way or that way. I love helping my classmates figuring it out on their own but still nudging them closer to the end. But when I'm around with people when studying, I feel like I'm performing rather than studying. I could easily get lost in a good conversation (haha usually this INTJ girly) waahhhh! I need a lot to get done but I just can't stop the conversation...because it's so gooooood! I'm in Accountancy (prolly more of a creative subtype) and I'm channeling my creativity by making diagrams and flowcharts. If I don't put concepts in diagrams, they get lost in my memories. Thank you so much Joyce for this because it clarified a lot to me. I think I just need to stick more to schedules and fight my urge to not care and just sleep.

11:20 : yep! Guilty as charged! 😅 Those Karens get after my dog walkin ass on the regular. Tis fun to mess wit em, tho. Funsies. 😏
11:50: didn’t realize NF’s are known to wear masks. I thought that was more of an ENTP and ISFP (the women, Se parent expected roles) thing. I’ve always had different masks for every occasion. Exhausting but expected.
18:34 : yasssssss. My favorite pastime! That of people watching. Sooooo entertaining for me and so much to discuss by just “being” and observing. Didn’t realize this is Ne specifically at play. I often ask my boss if he noticed x y and z in even benign meetings. It goes over his head! Sometimes leaves me wondering whether I’m imagining things. But I just KNOW that I’m picking up on what’s beneath the surface.
21:55: absolutely. What I value matters wholeheartedly and I’ll protect it to the extreme. Momma bear style. Especially “my people.” Usually just a couple peeps. And can take a lot of hits from those few people. I’d tell all others to pound sand, but will stick by those few no matter what they throw at me.
23:22 : I drains me to extrovert, but I can, and do very well. Just as he’s saying. I have to rest for quite awhile afterward, though!
24:42: yep! Just as referenced above with the people watching and even my sometimes bombastic, quirky online interactions - it’s mental entertainment for me, hopefully shared with my few others.
25:28 and 38:38 : role playing. Shared mental adventures without judgement. I typically, when in one on one situations online and while in voice chats, I totally initiate a role playing, third person type of act. Very quick whitted banter is my jam. And all the OPEN MINDEDNESS with the flow/experimentation. Noticing POTENTIAL.
30:16 and 34:29 : relatable. The normalizing and harmonizing (advocating). Don’t want to be leading the unit, but the closeness and supporting my few is so Uber important to me. My little one and I carry around special goodies for the homeless who we feel are deserving. And if my few special peeps in my life need/want something - anything - I will move heaven and high water and break out ALL the connections to help them get what they want/need. Yes to HOPELESS ROMANTIC. music and movies help express such. Always about togetherness. Would be an awfully meaningless existence to not have my few peeps.
41:12 : yep to multitasking with ease (it’s actually fun, generally). Get to start a variety of things and finish the ones I like or must (great with prioritizing). Switch between multiple remote jobs during the day while managing others. Make that money to better the family unit and have fun with the variety.
42:42 : OMgoodness. Yes Nostalgia. Yes I’m a big believer in the ideal love story, soul mate. But it’s not just a pie in the sky kinda thing. My stubborn fi + Si has rock solid faith in that kind of love. It dominates my thoughts. It’s also kind of a source of depression, though. It hurts.
    43:44 - 45:10 : for M and T 😊
Can the ENFP’s be confused with ENTJ’s? I’ve been professionally typed as a UD UF ENTJ. But then others have typed me ENFP. I’m assuming dominant ENFP’s specifically can present as ENTJ’s?
I think it’s cool that Dario said he knows the most about ENFPs aside from his own type. Interesting.

Can ENFP 7w8 sx/sp be Creative subtype? I relate to it sorta. Though I may be naturally chosen a leader in some group dynamics sometimes. Still, I think i'm Creative over Dominant.

Hahaha I’ve always said, who needs drugs when life is already a party in here. Brad was tipsy once and was like oh my gosh, I get it… this is what it’s like all of the time for you. Jokes hitting the right target is definitely a thing 😂 shhhhhhhhhhh. Stop seeing us hahahahah. Shhhhh, don’t let our invisibility shields down oh my gosh Dario shhhhhhhhh. We do have THE ADHD Ahahahahhah 😂 I did buy Pink Floyd “The Wall” at 13 just because the art drew me in at a Record Store in Evanston, IL. Yes, Record Stores existed in the 90’s. So, word. Excited!!!!!!!!!! Now I need to get my brain scanned by Dario. I did get like an MRI, or some other type of brain image after an accident in highschool once and my Dad told me my scan looked like a Christmas Tree and the Radiologist was like it’s interesting that so many different areas were lit up at once, not usual for him to see, but not pathological either so 😂😂😂😊😊. I predicted where everyone in hs would end up. Yep, I read people like a book. I always knew who liked whom, who had done what with whom, who would be good with whomever. I like to provide presence and yeah, I can pull skills out of my back pocket and still be clumsy.. I am a nurse and my lawyer laser beam accuracy of the shit you have done will get ya… Brad calls it my scary spy side, or navy seal hit. I could also read long term relationship success, so crushes in hs were actually incredibly heartbreaking knowing the multiplicity and limitations of the future of things. Met an INTJ and was heartbroken in that moment knowing our long term destinies…. Could never explain it, they thought I hated them… whoops. Hahahah
