This film touched me deeply, it slowly immerges you in the story, it has many layers it is poetic and realistic at the same time. Even if it is a fiction It tells the eternal story of children having to put up with the destiny given to them by their families, heartbreaking and beautiful.
This movie is a master class in movie making, there is no guns, violence, sex but from a simple storey they have made such a lovely movie.
why cant the world have more movies like these and less hollywood crap
One of the best movies I have ever seen. Breath taking in every respect. The cinematography is full of colour and atmosphere, the sound perfect and acting, especially Catherine - just wow.
We are so very very proud of you, Catherine!! You are a wonderful actress...so deserving!! CONGRATULATIONS, SWEET GIRL!! WE LOVE YOU!!
Just watched the movie with my partner this evening. Catherine, take a bow a cailín, what a performance. This is instantly one of our favourite movies. Moving stuff.
She's I'm My school

@@lolamusic_ Even though it’s been almost a year since I first saw “An Cailín Ciúin”-“The Quiet Girl”-at my local independent cinema here in Kingston, Ontario after it was released in Canada in March of 2023, and almost two years since the film was first released in Ireland and the UK in May 2022, I like to think that Catherine Clinch still checks out UA-cam occasionally, or other places online, to see how much people love “An Cailín Ciúin”, and how much they admire her starring performance in what has recently been voted the best Irish film ever made!
Just watched it, still bursting in tears 😢 no idea why.....
'Proximate Separation'. All to common in society.
@@lambchop6278 yep, the loneliness of being
@@Foxsuper1 I don't think that's the definition of it. Not sure exactly, but I think 'proximate Separation' is about not having a good emotional link with family members.
The LAST scene is the best
Congratulations!
We are so proud of Catherine ❤️. She’s a brilliant actress.
Congratulations Ireland the quiet girl being the first academy award nomination for an Irish gaelic film very proud
I actually think it should have been nominated for and also have won , Best Picture, beating 'Everything, Everywhere, All at Once'. ...now I may have to view the latter a few more times to fully decide, as it was quite good (but for me, confusing and a bit overwhelming). But I love this film so much I find it difficult to put the movie that actually won before it.
"An Cailin Ciuin" should definitely have won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. It's a far more memorable, more timeless and appealing a movie than "All Quiet on the Western Front". @@lambchop6278
One of my favourite books is Foster, read it for the Leaving and it nearly brought a tear to me eye

Chonaic me an scannán seo inné, tá sé sár-mhaith, scéal de chailín a chaitheann an Samhradh thíos i bPort Láirge i dteach cholceathair a máthar atá ag iompair arís ( ceathrar páistí aici cheana), mothucháin agus aisteoireacht den scoth ann!
Táim ag dul anocht.

How can we see this movie in America?
The girl so cute
Why is An Cailín Ciúin in brackets 🙄🙄🙄. Give the actual gaelige name the respect it deserves.
agree!!
it's for editorial purposes i believe
The Irish name. Hopefully in Ireland, An Cailín Ciúin will be the title though it may be in other languages in other countries.
If this movie did not touch your soul, you just can’t be allowed to have kids.
🤮
for sure!!!!!!!!!!! or expose a system of white supremacist breeding like ontario!!! I want to have kids and take care of them and sacrifice myself for them.. .that is what life is about!!! no joke!!!
she started off - with a kick... how from Haneke and Huppert
Where can I see this in the UK?
I live in NI and saw it at a local cinema
@@TintedVisionMovies Thank you! Managed to see it at the ICA

@@canalsatelite the true title is in Irish.
This should be An Cailín Ciúin (The quiet girl), not the other way around. What is it with imperialistic language speakers that they can't respect minor languages??
Hi, thank you for your feedback :) We always write the international title before the original title, on all videos and across all Berlinale social media platforms, for editorial reasons.
Good grief - take a lude, Josef.
Aontaim leat go hIomlan !
I am a big fan of English (American). Though I totally agree with you.
I am Kazakh myself.
