I am so encouraged at the recognition for this amazing film. As an American I am so happy that films in the Irish language are being seen in the U.S. When I tell people that when Irish arrived in America during the famine years there was a language barrier that created difficulty in finding work, housing and education. The typical response is "I thought the Irish spoke English, just like us."

This movie felt like a reflection of my life i too once was a quiet boy (still am but not as timid) who had no true conscious of the world and after the death of my mother i was given to my aunt to be taken care of at a farm and the love that was given to me by them is represented perfectly in the movie
They unfortunately passed away when i was 13 (i am 16 now btw) but they will always be my godmother guardian

Well done! I literally just finished watching the film before clicking on this video. So the tears in my eyes are still warm and running down my face. Left me feeling heartbroken but it was also beautiful and full of love at the same time. The Irish language is very special indeed!🥰🍀💖🇦🇺😘

I am so glad for the movie to be talked in Irish, because for the first time in my life I discovered how some words in Irish are talked like in my region in North of Portugal. Even if Greeks and Romans called us Celts Bragaerae. the true is that it sounded different.... I dont know, maybe Basque mixed with Scandinavian or Flemish, but from time to time, it appears a very familiar word, even pronounced like we do in the North, different from the "Moorish" sound, in the South. Anyway, I hope from now to see many Irish talked movies. Especially in this one, because it is an extremly beautiful film!

I saw the movie last night (WED) at the Kentucky Theater in downtown Lexington, KY and immediately knew that it was going on my top 100 list, a process which includes bumping a movie off the list. I was blown away by the story, and Catherine's acting, with equally powerful performances from Carrie Crowley and Andrew Bennett. I thought the comment that the movie basically has no plot quite funny, because character development is plot enough in a relationship movie. Colm and Cleona, kudos. One more thought. In a world that can be unfair and sometimes cruel, think the war in Ukraine or the plight of women in conservative Islamic countries, a story such as this provides a roadmap to building relationships based on kindness and humanity.

These interviewers are *SO much* better than the majority of news and daytime talk show hosts in the . Smart, knowledgeable questions, and good follow-ups.

The book is amazing; the movie is even more so. A brilliant choice to make it in Irish with only the father speaking English. This emphasizes his locus of chaos and brutishness in the story

Best international film? No, it is the best film of the year, by a mile. Campaigning? Nonsense, let it stand on its own. As one reviewer said "The Quiet Girl is one of the single most moving, heartfelt, and heartbreaking movies ever made. That only sounds like hyperbole until you see it. After that, the sentence reads as a huge understatement"

Why use the original title only...? No one can read that language outside Ireland. You want people to watch your videos on YT.
