- This lesson will show you how I put together my lessons for teaching the FOI's in the CFI PTS. It might not work for you, but at least you'll have a starting point to go off of.
Here is the PowerPoint as shown in the video.

The time and effort you have put into this is greatly appreciated.
I can’t beat the information into your head.. that costs extra! 😂🤣😂
This is so helpful Todd, I want to thank you so much for helping me with my CFI study. This information and the way you have paired it with funny ancetodes has made this daunting task of studying for my CFI much more enjoyable and it feels much more achievable. - Amber, FL.
I literally put this on to take a nap cause I don’t want to waste any time...I’m now laughing. Thanks 😂😂
Thank you for this. I'm in the middle of my CFI training and cannot turn the corner with confidence in presenting. I've honestly thought about quitting multiple times but keep pushing forward. I did a flight review with another instructor, and he brought in power points in a binder for us to review. I didn't think about doing this for studying.
Actually am waiting my cfi check ride in two weeks, but I've learned a lot from these videos. That's really amazing.
Thank you so much
This vid is just a great as the last video I commented on. I just paused this video to purchase the PTS and the Aviation Instructors Handbook. Now I am back finishing the rest!
You're hilarious "Hip like me" haha thanks for this video!
This video has been very helpful! Thanks for creating your channel.
Putting this on a Power Point was a Great idea!
Awesome! Cannot wait for TASK B-G
Good stuff. Gratitude.
Wow! Very informative!
Thank you for this whole series of videos!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome video
Hey Todd,
Thanks for the information. I love the idea of using a PowerPoint to not only help organize yourself but to also help the student visualize what you are teaching them. Do you have PowerPoints for all the FOI's and/or the Technical Subject Areas that I can use as a guide to edit and make my own? if so where can I find them?
outstanding!
Great video
You're a natural
I appreciate the information and take it to heart. Only problem is the slow pace of speaking. I set the speed to play at 150% and got through it much better than the original recording.
However you want to do it, everyone learns differently.
Todd is the best!
Hi Todd, the link to the powerpoint is dead. Any chance you still have that somewhere? I think it is a good idea to have that for the checkride.
I will check it today - check it again later on and let me know if it works on your end.
Mr. Todd, good stuff, its a necessary learning tool, still boring... but thank you for this.
Thought id leave but it was interesting
Well that made me smile real big this morning! Thanks Simon!!
So is it acceptable to use PowerPoints on the checkride to present whichever FOI sections the examiner brings up?
Dylan Dorman yes! They want to see how you will be presenting it in real life to YOUR customers. So embrace this as you would if you were teaching this to your very first student with no knowledge about aviation.
Good AM
Thanks for the candy
So would you recommend creating PowerPoints to use in throughout the checkride?
Absolutely! This is the age of tech and you should embrace that. The better you are prepared to present this material to the examiner (and this includes instructional aids) the better your chances are of passing on the first go. I suggest this to all of my CFI/MEI clients that I teach.
@@ToddShellnuttCPC So do the PPT slides serve as the "instructor notes" section of your lesson plans or are they in addition to the instructor notes? I'm assuming your using them as the instructor notes as they seem to serve the same purpose.
Chad Baker that depends on what you qualify at instructor notes being part of a lesson plan. Technically, lesson plans do not contain instructor notes. However, you can definitely add notes as you wish. The Aviation Instructors Handbook discourages the use of notes by the instructor during the teaching process, and only recommends that they are reviewed prior to any teaching event. I hope this answered you question. If not, just let me know.
@@ToddShellnuttCPC Thanks for that clarification. I had found a template somewhere for lesson plans and it included a section for "instructor notes" at the end which I viewed as the place to put all notes on teaching the material. I like the PPT presentation way better along with using the notes section of the PPT for more details. Thanks for all your hard work on these presentations.
How can I get that cockpit sheet
I was CERTAIN that the instructor in chapter 3 @19:43 was you in a cameo, Todd.
Maybe he is your doppleganger?
I'm a little more handsome than that!
@@ToddShellnuttCPC That is why I thought he might be your evil twin... He is also under dressed.
Dude. You should totally ditch aviation and move to LA to be a standup comedian. Seinfeld and Carlin have nothing on you, my brother.
Thank you @JasonAir
