This is the 2nd channel this video is on as I move all elden ring and soulsborne content over to this channel!
This is the weapon that broke Elden Ring! This is the rivers of blood, the strongest weapon I have ever seen in a Souls game! The philosophy of Fromsoftware games was to overcome odds by giving players a massive sense of accomplishment! With Elden Ring, that philosophy changed with one weapon, Rivers of Blood!

You don't have to beat " her " to get the Rivers of Blood sword. Just go up to the snow fields and fight the glowing red guy and he gives it to you. Peace ✌
@@Shatterglass23 bro did not watch the video at all lmao
ROB was really op when bleed weapons got proper scaling, but since then it’s been nerfed and now it’s just good - the footage in the video must be from a few patches ago, ROB doesn’t do that much anymore - good video non the less
@@FOES-YT it's an older one, this is a repost from my main channel
Most broken Weapons you say id say with the Low health Bars of Bosses in ds1 It's the glitched Moonlight spell on the stone sword it Deals like 600 DPS witch
For ds1 is Just busted
Downside of running Rivers of Blood: Everyone hates you
Upside of running Rivers of Blood: No one expects you to use the full moveset
What moveset
While I would never use the RoB in a fair and square 1v1 duel, I always pulled that shit on invaders. I am not really good in PvP but especially right at the beginning of the game, there weren't a lot of people prepared for that sword straight from hell.
@@TheTrueVirus22 protip to use RoB the proper way: build for DEX over ARC and only use the Ash of War to finish off opponents with about 1/3 of HP left. They won't expect it after a full course of running R2s and roll catching R1s AND as soon as they see the animation startup they'll probably panic roll and get caught. Bonus points if you bait a parry (Condition them with the running R2) and make them eat the whole 6 strikes.
@@benadrylcumbersplatch6448 Yeah during my first run, Dex was built the most.
I currently don't even play anymore but that character is at such a high level now, that it doesn't even matter anymore because it has like 60+ points in almost all stats except for maybe mind or something.
How is no one saying sword of night and flame. I'm shocked. It was wayyyy to easy.
When the game first came out the hoarfrost stomp was ridiculously broken it was an instant frostbite proc, broke poise and did physical damage, but the Sword of Night and Flame was by far the most broken thing I’ve ever used. I beat Rykard with it during my first playthrough because I didn’t realize the serpent hunter existed, that’s how broken it was
i remember this! So many people said frost was busted, but bleed just stayed broken? Very odd
I used Hoarfrost a bit right before it got nerfed, but I was already playing a Sorcerer. Thing that really sucked the most about that AoW though was that it put most every Sorcery to shame in terms of efficiency and just outright dominating the field. AoE, Frostbite, Stagger, cheap.
Well that's the strategy that let me solo her used. Hoarfrost stomp rivers in left hand and uchigatana in right hand.
Git gud
@@scotth9273 You'd be edgy if this was 2009.
Only real OGs remember that Rivers of Blood had no scaling in 1.0 and was doing something like 357 damage at +10.
On that note, moonveil, seriously, that thing is wild even after the nerfs.
I remember being happy when they released the patch that fixed the scaling
Oh, how naïve i was
I remember something like that. Werent alot of the bleed weapons bugged in scaling? Some people said arcane was useless
@@ddmacc They were bugged in that no arcane weapon actually scaled at all if I remember correctly, so arcane was basically just there for the item discovery.
Aw that’s cute. Actual OGs will tell you the Blueblood sword from DeS was the most OP
@@stevemichael652 Thought we were talking about Elden Ring, but hey, interesting detail nonetheless.
The crazy thing is that Miyazaki succeeded at building a game that not only gave players the freedom to play however they chose but also encouraged the community to come together and actually work together to achieve the goals they had in the game. This is what Kojima tried to achieve with Death Stranding
which goal?
@@expectation0 i meant like in general , like my goal in Elden ring was to only fight with sword shield and bow , only using healing and buff incantations but that quickly changed when my friends couldn’t help me beat the parts i was stuck at because ppl kept invading us lol
@@Cashmere_Gaming and now you could see a couple videos and do a great sword shield and bow build, the comunity sharing info in this gamds has been amazing, it has so many secrets and obscure stuff
Yeah well people can't play the way they want due to people crying for nerfs
@@bigdongdonkeykong1234 yea im not that great in the game but I would’ve been happy to find one of those overpowered weapons , it would’ve added to the excitement of exploration
This weapon is the king of L2 spammers
And because of it's repetitive use and one way fight style people started developing successful pvp counters for it
RoB was like a virus that attacks the blood cells for some time and then is encountered and crushed by white cells
Thanks for reading.
it made Malenia go from impossible to easy
@@EvanExplains Especially when the host has 2 fingers spamming L2 at here
this is a good observation. It forced other players to get creative and explore other possibilities. While it challenged the non-weebs, it ultimately left them with the upper-hand because it forced them to become better than the L2 spammers.
I'm gonna be honest it's really tempting to use this in a 3v1
Bro... Beautiful
Honestly dude, that hardest part was learning how to explore. I hadn’t ever played a game that genuinely required true exploration. If you just focus on upgrading your weapon you’ll smash most bosses early game. And by the time you get to late game, you’ve gotten enough practice to never be completely discouraged from a fight. Plus the summoning pools are seriously a great help, which I realize some people shit on, but I say play how you want.
Agree - I am a Noob and i definitely have my problems exploring - but also do quests without having a quest log, was a bit tough as i started multiple quests at the same time :D But i like the challenge
Some of the fights while exploring are way worse than any boss tbh. Like, messing up a jump and ending up in the middle of a greater revenant party at bottom of the haligtree... that is my friggen nigtmare, lol.
Or the random area with 4 putrid tree spirits in capital of ash. Or the god damned semi automatic snipper rifles they call lobsters, lol. If you agro more than 1 lobster, you are likely in trouble, lol.
Or unsuspectedly running into the middle of a group of skeletal bestmen, and 2 of them are the greater skeletal bestmen, those guys are straight assholes. And they love to protect the corpses of their dead friends, so they just keep reviving.
Or the dual sword red eyed banished knight at castle sol, the spirit kind who can teleport. I tried to sneak up on him first time i saw him for a nice backstab, and he just disappeared and reappeared right behind me and pulled off a 6 hit combo from hell.
Or the spirit dragonkin in the con snowfields. Or the red wolf in the middle of a blizzard where you have 2 feet of visibility, also in the concentrated snowfields. Or the damn magic snipper albunoric in ordelia evergaol... also in the concentrated snowfields. Man, those snowfields can be brutal, lol. Fun as hell, but brutal.
@@kentakeura1617 i think the no quest log, and minimal markers is actually an awesome design. I remember all the quests in elden ring, whereas i forget like 99% of quests in other games because the game basically does the whole quest for me, so there are no memorable discovories or awesome ahha moments. Even in games I absolutely love like XBC3 or the trails series , I forget a lot of the quests.
As a vet j just ran from boss to boss picked up everything on the road or the roadside and thats it. After 40+ hours i completed the first run on the third day after realese. I remember went for wretch immediately picked the swordkey for starting item then there was a fog wall and i know i did it right. Sucked a lil bit in the dungeon then a lil bit with the tree sentinel but moved on. The 4k hours in souls games definietly helped me there.
@@Cman04092 all very true.
On release, the Fingerprint Shield was pretty busted but required 2 extra items. The Greatshield Talisman gave it 99 guard boost, and the Immutable Shield incantation gave it 100% damage and status negation to all sources. Meaning only a select few items in the game could ever actually damage you. Otherwise, you were invincible.
Not to mention it was a ruthlessly deadly weapon too.
@Flygawne Bard of Light Seriously though, in its own its strong but add shield crash and single good weapon art would kill anyone.
I still can’t figure out how to get the fingerprint shield

I feel like they wanted it to be powerful.
You first see it when you summon Okina during Radahn’s fight. The most eye catching attacks come from Okina’s RoB weapon art and it makes you wonder what that is. Then after the fight you might explore. You start looking around and make it to the Royal capital. By then you’ve met or know the other NPCs that were summoned and get hints of who they are through their armor descriptions or finding spells they used during Radahn’s fight. But the only thing referencing Okina is on the wakizashi. No hint of where he is, no armor piece, nothing.
Then you make it to the mountaintops and near the fire giant boss fight is where you get invaded. Now you’re thinking “awesome this is probably how I get his weapon” only to get melted by his weapon art and see how strong it is. Finally you get it and reading the description tells you it’s a weapon that’s cursed and so powerful it managed to wound Mohg, a demigod, and impressed him so much he wanted Okina to serve him.
Then there’s the design. It is the best looking katana in the entire game and one of the best looking weapons overall. There’s no way they’d spend that much effort making the weapon look that cool if they didn’t want people to use it.
There’s no way they didn’t want this to be extremely powerful. The lore, it’s presentation, the description all points to it being a powerful weapon. The problem is that they made the game centered around PvE more than PvP.
I wish the game was only PvE and no pvp. They had no nerf rob so hard just because it was too op for pvp... -_-
Yeah, how about they give us back normal RoB and then nerf bleed buildup only in PvE? That be fun
Most broken thing is Blasphemous Blade lol. It’s so easy to use has fire damage, physical damage and grants you health in its low cost aow.
Supereasy to dodge
@@crimson1953 Not for bosses. These videos are meaningless without specifying PVP vs PVE. Lots of good PVP weapons are garbage in PVE and vice versa
Morgotts Blade >>>>>
yeah PVE i think it is the best weapon rn
@@i.9057 i mean, best pve is probably Serpent hunter, but heavy thrusting weapons are stinky and feel horrible to use sooooo.
Moonveil is way worse than ROB tbh especially in pvp..
Agreed
Tell em
@@wizardofooze554 you would definitely know lol jk
And it still isn’t nerfed
Moonveil can easily be counterd by both golden and carian retaliation
Honestly, Blood hounds fang. That ash of war is just so good since it does a lot of damage, has a huge hitbox, and puts space between you and enemies. Plus, you find it super early on a pretty squishy boss
BHF was the first weapon I stuck with on my first playthrough. Even without the AoW, its fast hits, wide swings AND Bleed build-up is insanely good. Even more so for an early-game weapon. which doesn't require much in terms of stats and if you are running a warrior ( = melee fighter) build, chance are, you'll meet the min. reqs in no time. I didn't even use the AoW on it, it was so good (talkuing abou it on release date, I haven't played with it since the first playthrough so I have no idea how it is now. If unchanged, still an S-tier weapon).
Agree, im doing a second play after a year and straight up getting bloodhound
but i started to feel bad using the same weapons and it being OP
so i decide to use claymore and now i respect most enemies
on my 1st play i used bloodhound early game to ROB and scavenger
One that encourages you to bring in backup at that.
I can never say no to the wolfman.
My vote is on Moonviel, but my honorable mention goes to the Winged Sycthe you can get in the Weeping Peninsula that blocks estus with it's Ash of War. Very strong skill, it absolutely destroys chuggers and punishes spam rollers. It also comes out really quick, pierces shields, stacks bleed.... Yeah the Winged Scythe is a solid option that can go through just about the whole game without too much headache and makes any invader think twice about chasing you down. A must have for faith builds looking to PVP. Bonus points if you dual wield, the spin to win running L1 power stance is the king of chase down with wide arcs and odd swing timings to catch those pesky rollers.
For PvE Dark sword Moonlight is also very OP, doesn't have bleed status but hits like a trunk
Ohhh my guiding light
Dark sword?? Trunk??
An elephant trunk
Right now a Grave Scythe with Loretta's Slash infused with frost is about as good, if not better in many cases. You get the awesome AoW that comes standard on a Winged Scythe, Frostbite and Bleed status. Even better if you power stance them.
@@Neonmirrorblack Yes but darkmoon greatsword has a projectile attack which is better for people who play as non meelee builds with less vigor.
Ice rapier ds2. My goodness, the damage is very high and being buffable was the cherry on top.
Ice rapier dualweild with scarlet rot rapier is the highest damage build i ever played
Great answer.
Bruh why did I just beat it with a Bandit axe that you get very early in the game
Better yet, just use vanquisher seal and throw hands.
I think FromSoftware made Elden Ring to initially be very difficult, but with multiple ways of making the fights easier. Doing it this way, your choices are "git gud" or level up some and maybe find an epic weapon if you're really having a hard time. It allows the player to choose how difficult the game is while not just handing it to players on a silver platter. You get the full immersion of starting off as a true nobody. I hate how some fights are so difficult at that moment, but the options keep me coming back to Elden Ring
Yeah the options to find something stronger is good. The fact that people complain about how other people play PvE is incredibly stupid to me.
Maybe some people don’t want to maximize their suffering for bragging points and just want to actually be able to finish the game they bought
@@TREVORVADER Most players don’t give a shit about how anyone plays PVE. Most of the complaining is about PvP weapon balance, which is completely separate from PVE balance.
Never much cared for PVP in games. I suck at it honestly. 🤣
The ds1 zwei was crazy, it mutilated every enemy and boss in the game by itself AND it required very little stat investment to use AND could be found 20 seconds after starting the game, which sucks because the claymores moveset is just too sexy and it’s probably my favorite weapon in all fromsoft games
It has gotten a pretty heavy nerth, the main damage dealers were the bleed procks. Before the nerf you could prock 3 bleeds per l2 spam now it is only 1. Which is a huge decrease in damage
it still deals the very much, now it's just not broken but a good option from hundred others, like it should be, I still heavily use it in my ng+ boss rush double Katana run its fun as hell, I can use pretty much every Katana too or viable Ash better said, Katana I would generally advise the Nagakiba, but Rivers has its uses for certain bosses, the bleed prock is still a very good option for extra damage, poison build up is too slow unfortunately, and the others are just not viable, except Moonveil of course
in PVP however, it's only really usable in the off hand as a roll catch I would say, but there are better options, that's true
@@lp.shakur reduvia deals more dps with bleed procs consistently after patch 1.8.
@@SebastianPerez-bx1hg that is true, however, my point still stands, a player that has a build at the ready can still make use of Rivers is all I'm saying, I would know buddy, I used Rivers for a long time, but it doesn't matter either way, bleed is what's broken, I currently made myself a Flamberge Build that's actually unfair, like seriously, that build is unfair for how fast it triggers bleed, both Flamberge have 125 Bloodloss 😂
@@lp.shakur uchi paired with nagi with blood scaling is better than RoB if you don't like L2 spam.
When it came to PvP, I loved using Vyke’s spear as well as the madness spells
The Mace in DS1 was pretty busted but not in the way you think. Very few enemies resisted strike damage and many were weak to it, so it made areas like the catacombs and the stone knights in darkroot a cakewalk, such a consistent source of damage
I likes the Great Club for the same reason. I gave everyone the big bonk. X3
Hold up, it not only received a speed nerf but also a damage and bleed proc nerf. The blood flowing from the swords slashes used to deal full damage and proc but now it deals half the damage and proc unless your close enough so that the flowing blood and blade connect.
I still recognize that it is indeed strong but not nearly as broken as it once was. If anything I still think that Moonveil is more broken, even though it doesn't have bleed like the RoB.
Moonveil still does bleed as a katana
He mentioned it in the video. There are technically better builds out there but none are as easy to use. RoB you still can just spam. Moonveil isnt hard to use as well, but spamming isn´t an option (anymore, since the poise dmg got nerfed).
I was on Klein Tsuboi's YT channel last week and actually got on live when I summoned him to my game to "solo her". I was incredibly honored to be on the list of tarnished who got to experience his unmatched skill in person, and I can confidently say he is WELL OVER 4,000 kills. Just wanted to update that number...
what platform is he on? PC, or PS4/5?
@@iamamish He is on pc.
The answer to the question at the beginning of the video would be the broken straight sword, but some could argue that the straight sword hilt that you receive at the beginning of ds1 is even more broken.
I'd argue the broken broken straight sword from ds2 was more broken.
@@BoneWalker Perhaps the most broken weapon is a broken straight sword with the "broken" status effect.
2:50 he's definitely talking about your ability to leave and go somewhere else until you're strong enough to return... instead of how the Souls games give you a wall that you must get by
For PVE I'd have to say mogh's sacred spear the ash of war is crazy and can do insane damage unless you're fighting something like the fire giant or maybe mogh himself
True
Agreed. That one with mimic tear might be the most powerful set up in the entire game
Honestly one of my favorite weapons.
Velka's rapier on a high int build was probably the most broken thing I've used in a Fromsoft game. I was dealing over 600 damage in a single hit with a rapier, and that could be boosted even further with power within, then augmented by using things like homing crystal soulmass in conjunction with it. That build melted just about every fight in the game. Some of the game's tankiest enemies were dead in 2-3 hits, and most bosses died within 30 seconds.
the jumping attack from the dual wield godskin with blood and seppuku on it was genuinely insane. ive never melted enemies faster in anything its actually hilarious how overpowered it is. i also think the black fireball incantation is really good all the way thru the game.
Mate, dual wield Scavengers Curved Sword with Occult Affinity and pre-patched Seppuku Ash is so broken that even after patch, it still melts bosses and players. It literally broke the game that it's still being felt to this day.
I remember when Moonveil was OP AF in PvE before they nerfed it to the ground. The stagger damage was unreal, most creatures could be staggered with 2 L2's
It’s still very OP especially in pvp. It’s L2 is so quick in comparison with other L2s you can easily interrupt magic spells of ashes of war from other players.
they havent nerfed moonveil to the ground..
Pretty huge stats. I am currently a level 82 Bandit dual wielding Bandit curved swords with the Blood Slash ash of war duplicated to both swords. Blood loss of about 71 per hand. With the curved sword talisman the jumping double slash attacks with this setup is frightening. Thanks for video, I guess I will have to hunt down the Rivers Of Blood.
Put seppuku with occult affinity on them instead and do jump attacks with the black feather chest and jump attack talisman. Hits 4x on jumps and one shots some of the toughest encounters.( blood affinity if you have low arcane)
For full damage you need the attack power stacking talismans and the bleed AP and white mask.
Bloodhound’s fang + Bloodflame blade carried me through my entire first playthrough
Hoarfrost stomp on release was the most spammable, busted weapon art ever. But as for weapons either the rivers of blood or moonlight katanas are probably the most broken in the series. I came into Elden Ring having just finished a status build in DS3 and was shocked to find what used to be a meme/almost challenge build in DS3 was now the most broken build in the game!
The Ice Rind axe with hoarfrost stomp was the most broken weapon. Spamming HS ripped through everything.
Whirligig saw adds a difficulty slide to BB, the same way 1.0 sword of night and flame did to ER
Eleonora’s Poleblade was my favorite weapon in Elden Ring. It melted seemingly everything and looked sick as fuck!
I loved this weapon. Only thing with it is it locks you in an animation that lasts a while…..
for pve, i think Blasphemous Blade was, and still is, the most broken weapon. gives health just for hitting and not just killing, but can also be paired with other talismans for insane effect. you also don't even have to get close to anything. used it for some of my first playthrough, thought it made things too easy, and i also doscovered the grave scythe and fell in love.
That dark cript colossal greatsword in ds2, that thing was the most op weapon i've ever used in any souls game
My number 1 weapon in all of elden ring, the one I feel I can use against anything in the whole game, is the Great Stars. It can heal a bit on every hits, can cause some blood loss (Wild Strike is great for this), can damage enemy that are immune to blood loss/fire/holy/slash, is a strike weapon and works wonders as a block/counter weapon. Also, it is pretty lightweight (10)...
Oooo, I do love me some wild strikes.
One of my first weapons that started sweeping the game was just a flail with wild strikes, that damn fire thief giving the inspiration for the cheese.
At Game release Sword of Night and Flame was pretty broken. Especially using broken Mimic Tear as well. Carried me all the way through my first playthrough with zero previous soul’s experience.
I have the ore blade katana but its actually weaker than my original katana and it says, "unable to use weapon properly veacsue of current attributes" or something like that. Is their a specific attribute or attributes that need to be leveled up? Thank you.
Is it still giving the bleed effect? I am not getting the bleed effect at level 150...which is the level that makes it awesome? or stats?
I use broken weapons all the time!!! Literally got zero shame!!!😂😂😂
yall didn't have sword of night and flame in patch 1.02, huh?
Im running a play through with it now, still pretty good tbh ;)
@Evil Mac yes it's good but doing a dragon ball style energy wave that does 700-900 damage without even being upgraded even once is different breed
Does anyone forget about the true pvp nightmare? The darkmoon blade buffed 2 hand murky scythe from ds3?
Just finished my first playthrough last night. Was running 2 bandit curved swords until the final fights. Switched over to sword of night and flame. Still an OP weapon. Just harder to use properly especially the beam attack, seems to be shit sometimes then good the others. That flame though, that's a rot of damage with high faith
I love this sword. Poisoned Wakizashi in the left hand (which power stances with katanas) to have all the fun status procs and finish off with the ash of war.
I think the L2 on Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear is by far the most overpowered attack in Elden Ring.
In PVE, yes.
Rob build got me through 3/4 the games. Personally I love the weapon art. I had to change my build because of Radagon and Beast. Moon veil is my second favorite.
so much casualness put into a single comment
@@ranbojd1070 🤓🤓🤓
But...Radagon is weak to fire. RoB still deals massive damage in that fight.
Still using the first blade i got as the confessor, upgraded it out the wazoo and added bloody slash...i change it sometimes, but it still works very well for now. I've defeated all the bosses so far with it except the magma wyrm.
I found the way to counter with a two handed long katana, occult, with the unsheathed ash of war. Coming down with a quick L2 vertical strike at the right time would not only disrupt the spammers animation but also causes massive damage that makes them think twice.
Moonveil is stronger than RoB, but Corpse Piler is such a great spam move. I've used the regular version (double swing or something like that) and it's almost as good but obviously the range isn't the same.
Depends if your doing arcane or int
the most broken weapon I ever used in a Souls game was the broken-off hilt of a sword that you're given at the start of Dark Souls 1. It's harder to get more broken than literally not having a blade.
lol, brilliant.
I like rivers of blood I haven't actually got it but I started playing and it should fit my samurai dragon magic build I'll use the dragon finger seal cuz it scales off faith and arcane from what i read rivers of blood fire dmg scales off arcane so I'm going to run those two then 25 faith for buffs and see how it goes
The change to make the most damage only when the blade connects makes all the difference
Rivers of Blood did make the combat easier, the issue is is that you get it so late in the game. By that time, you're already invested, have a solid understanding, and no matter if the weapon exists or not, you'd still most likely beat the game....eventually.
The question is "What weapon did you get that made you realize, 'I can beat this game now?'"
that would be the Blasphemous Blade for me. Incredible weapon!
@@Dustyholes Mine was Meteorite with Meteorite staff. Spells for me meant distance and safety....mostly. I wasn't getting near an enemy if I didn't have to.
BloodHound Fang...I can't get away from the AoW along with bloodflame.
not weapon but
comet azure 😂
Lusat's glintstone staff, with Rock sling.
I was at level 103 and still hadn't beaten Margitt(in stormveil) because I didn't want to live that embarrassment of the first hundred times I could barely drain his health.
I tried getting the Meteorite staff, but it doesn't show up in my game(I have no patches, and as far as I can tell I'm just fucked and it won't show until I download patches, which I'm gonna delay until I finish the game so I can see what the release version was like, so long as I don't hit an outright gamebreaking glitch)
I was grinding in Caelid by the Impassable Bridge, and once I got this combo, the giant bird and dog dino's became so much easier I was taking them out myself(up until then I had to lure them into the soldiers to have a giant war beside me)
When I went back to Margitt, I took out like %15-20 health with each hit.... and tbh felt like I'd broken the game already lol
Didn't take long for me to realize there's still plenty more challenge, and nothings been broke by my methods yet lol
I used to use RoB but as I got better and later into the game it felt boring I didn’t even beat malenia with it I used the bloody helice which it’s ash of war is arguably the most insane thing I’ve ever seen against her the stance breaks are insane you can get like 2 off whenever she lunges or tries to grab you but now I just use hand of malenia and nagakiba with bloodhound step it doesn’t matter if so can dodge right?
Honestly, the Golden Halberd carried me through most of the game after I got my stats up.
I arrowed the first tree sentinel to death after that first update wiped out my save data. It took some time, but it works.
I just refused to fight him up close and personal after losing my data of the first time.
Nowadays, as a PvE-only player, I vastly prefer Eleonora's Poleblade over Rivers of Blood. Don't get me wrong, RoB still has far more damage up-time, but Eleonora's Poleblade is acquired far earlier in the game, and its AoW, on top of boasting its own impressive damage output, comes with really good hyper-armor and absurdly high stagger potential.
ROB is a decent weapon but not OP by any means.
Not anymore. It was crazy op during the first couple months the game came out.
What are those weapons at 10:02 ??
I actually skipped on rivers of blood and used dual rapiers my first run, rogier’s for a while, but ultimately dual weilding antspur and cleanrot rapier
I would honestly say Bloodhound Step broke Eldenring even more than Rivers of Blood.
if you used sword of night and flame back when elden ring released you wouldn't think this, remember that shit doing about 1000 damage without ever upgrading it bcs I didn't know upgrade system existed also Had minimum requirements
Pretty much sums it up. I'd personally say that it still needs nerfs, along with bleed as a whole. I don't think that the easiest status to use should be the most powerful, should be the other way around.
gatekeeper
Yep bleed defo needs a nerf
@@keedoocap6219 sometimes we need gatekeeping. In the discussion of balance, we definitely need it
I'm fine with another RoB nerf if it's only for pve. If you nerf it even more in pvp it's gonna be completely useless. Same goes for bleed in general.
I don’t think that bleed or rivers of blood should be nerfed. You guys only want these things to be nerfed because you don’t want anyone to play souls games and enjoy them. It’s the same problem with every new souls game, gatekeepers make the game not fun with constantly requesting nerfs in pve. I’m okay with all the nerfs to rob and moonveil in pvp because that’s a different type of community. I think we’re fine with where we are at and any more nerfs would make certain builds unplayable and that’s not what a good game does.
Gael's Greatsword. Let me explain. When the DLC first came out and we all made it to the end some of us picked up this weapon. When using the weapon art it used it used FP like any other weapon. Now when you try to use a weapon art with no FP its damage is diminished significantly. Gael's Greatsword somehow didn't have this hang up. Plus the move set was great at roll catching. In recently playthroughs the FP damage has been fixed and it works like another other weapon now.
Rivers of blood +10 and the combination with a +10 mimic tear, how destructive will It go further
No weapon has won my heart the way Friede's Great Scythe did in Dark Souls 3. I wish they had it in Eldon Ring. It's moveset was just amazing and it's poise damage was pretty darn good also.
yeah buddy i agree on this. The scythe was phänomenal and also the blade of dragon midir, those 2 weapins in ds3 were amazing
they're DLC weapons, wait for the dlc. Don't compare the base weapons and dlc weapons between games.
To answer your question : This weapon is really broken, that's why I do not use it.
But Moghwyn's Sacred Spear is even more and (I think) the most broken weapon in Elden Ring (specialy in PvE). I mean : Skill -> OP. Bloodflame just after -> OP too.
But some Ashes of War can broke the game too (Raptor of the Mist / Bloodhound step)
People should try to use Heavy (Slow) Weapons and challenge themselves. It brings a real good feeling
Just my opinion 😉
It's the most broken weapon in Souls History imo
Haven't played the older Souls games, have you? Think of weapons like murky curved scythe ds3 or rapier/ice rapier from ds2, and for ds1, there's the black knight halberd. Every souls game has always had that one extreme weapon, and elden is no different.
@@deckfinal751 No I did not play any Soulslike, I began with Elden Ring. But it makes me want to play at the DarkSouls (;
Evan: Rivers of Bl....
Me: The Mortal Blade from Sekiro.
My first play through was an old skool strength build but my second play through was a meme rivers of blood build, well I got the sword pretty late but it was mainly a DEX build.
for me, I found Blasphemous Blade to be a lot more OP, at least in PvE
This !
I myself am a moonveil build, i am not the best at pvp and overall i just experiment different builds and then i came across moonveil and kept coming back to it. I used RoB for a really long time aswell and it always just felt wrong. I never knew why. Both are op but RoB just feels boring to use as it’s too strong. But yet again its better to experiment and find the build that you find fit for you and a build that makes you happy
Don't feel bad for using RoB or Moonveil because they aren't OP at all. If you call those OP you haven't seen what is truly OP in Elden Ring pvp yet.
@@doruk7125 its a cheap low skill option shitters use because they can't Bother to make their own Crutches so they copy them from a IGN guide
I did a dex build and it transformed its way into a dex-faith build because of rykards sword, that shit claps endgame bosses too if you mimic tear it and spam the ash of war
BTW this video should've been on your main channel, it clearly deserves more attention, keep up the good work my friend!
Even after it was nerfed, people can still carry themselves through PVE by spamming L2 with RoB.
I STILL regularly invade people who's entire strategy in PVP is "spam L2 with Rivers of Blood until either I or the opponent dies, or I run out of FP."
IMO, by themselves, only fist weapons (in the most recent patch), Dual Greatspears, katanas with Unsheath (might sound out of nowhere, but a Keen Nagakiba with 60 dex buffed with a 60 FTH Vyke's Dragonbolt can easily top 1000 damage without Shard of Alexander), Sword of Night and Flame pre-nerf, literally anything with Bloodhound Step pre-nerf, and Moonveil even come *close* to how broken RoB was pre-nerf, and now they're all just roughly tied in how objectively better they are than most other setups.
Edit: Grammar corrections.
RoB and Mohg's spear were both broken. RoB for close range combat and Mohg's spear for close range/sneaky through the wall attacks. both were used for invaders.
on release the weapon was unusable because of the arcane stat being bugged, imo moonveil is way more broken since it can be acquired really early, and since you level int for it you get to use many broken spells on top of it
Seriously. You can get to Moonveil pretty early on. People are complaining about RoB even though it’s way far into the game
Wasnt the sword of night and flame pre patch also súper op?
PVE- Blasphemous Blade is my favorite, but it is pretty powerful to be sure. Trivializes many fights that are otherwise way more challenging. Like Tiche. PVP- Rivers or Moonveil.
Very well done vid. And awsome music.
People always get it wrong. Miyazaki wasn’t saying his games are about loving getting your ass beat. It’s about the catharsis of finally whooping that ass back. Catharsis is the key word. It’s a high.
I used to believe that too, until I played with Fallingstar Beast Jaw and its weapon art where you can annihilate everything by spamming gravity bolt while just standing still.
Bloodhound's Fang was actually really good with its special in and out attack
rn, Azur's Staff. I've only just started though and finally got to Ranni in the NW of the map. I have no idea how to get strong like some of these videos. I got Lustac's set and Azur's Staff. I use Azur's Comet and it barely touches the things outside of Mohg's palace. I'm level 120 and I don't know where I need to go or what I need to focus on. BTW 70 INT and 33 FAI atm.
Sword of Night and Flame was my first OP weapon, then I went to Rivers of Blood with the mimic summon, then Blasphemous blade and instead of using a bow like I did in almost every Souls game before, I used Rock Sling as my main weapon from distance.
Frenzy seal in the left hand, Estoc in the right, two-hand the seal, use Inescapable Frenzy.
That was, before the patch.
I miss that glitch.
For me its Bloodhounds fang and Fallingstar Beast Jaw, the Bloodhounds fang is found insanely early, has a crazy weapon art, great scaling, and is enchantable... basically the highest raw damage weapon you find for 90% of the game and you get it right away and can start upgrading it early. The fallingstar Beast Jaw counters 99% of bosses in the game because you just stay at range and spam ranged gravity bolt while your mimic tear/summon holds agro, this also works against Melania... and basically every other boss. And since its a colossal weapon you can wait until the enemy comes to you and just stagger them in 2/3 heavy/jump hits, get a free crit, then dodge backwards and continue ranged spam.
It basically has the same problem as rivers of blood in that you don't really need any skill to use it and can just weapon art spam most bosses in the game except it truly works at range, although it does less damage than rivers of blood it is a little safer since it is actually ranged.
Friedes scythe with hoarfrost stomp into flurry will never be forgotten as my own special meta.
I would argue that the Blasphemous Blade is more broken because it can technically be reached much earlier in the game (after technically only killing one gimmick boss) and the heal is extremely good. It does take a few levels to use though but still more op weapon art.
The ring city dual giant greats swords. its normal attacks were long attack strings that would combo if anyone got caught by one hit.
My first playthrough was a strength build with a little faith to cast flame grant me strength and blood flame blade and I used the great sword with lions claw ash of war and it was awesome still one of my favorite weapons in game
Starscourge's Greatsword. Not exactly for bosses, but for pretty much everything else. Swarmed? AoE that pulls followed up by an AoE that knocks down. Enemy behind a wall? AoE bypasses terrain. Enemy above or below you? AoE extends above AND below. Flying or invisible mook? AoE doesn't need to target.
dark souls one; The scythe, not even listed as a separate class of weapon
in elden ring -gargoles twin blades ( 2 of them ) with ash of war bleeding no matter what bleeding .
these two weapons are just so broken even without talismans or any buffs to make it even worse
RoB is like a reward for completing most of the game and getting that far to begin with. It's not easy to get there but the journey is what makes it great. Once you do get it, you get to have a ton of fun with bosses you struggled against during the start of your playthrough. In the end, you can always switch to another weapon and have some more fun.
How do you feel about RoB today?
Still as op?
Sellsword twin blades were a starting weapon in DS3. That's crazy
When I first got the Rivers of Blood the patch hadn't come out yet to fix the scaling so it hit like a wet noodle. Then the next day they fixed it and it was my fav weapon. Now It's more of my Malenia killer combo'd with Mimic.
One time i was hanging out at my friends house and he asked me if I wanted to try out Elden ring, it was my first time and he was on a new journey. The save was at rennala and I 1 cycled it with rivers of blood. This was my first time ever playing Elden ring.
The exile greatsword in DS3.
So pretty expensive statwise but ultra good when combined with whatever un sheer damage It would deal 700 per gut with no buffs absolutly melting bosses
DS3 dark hand was broken when used in early game. You were dealing a massive 250+ damage at the speed of light.
1st half bosses were dropping like flies in less than one minute.
Rivers of blood is too broken that my brother only knows how to use rivers of blood and didn’t even care about other weapons or war of ashes
i am very sure that they wanted rivers of blood to have that amount of bleed proc but i think that the problem is that bleed just do too much damage like if they nerf the damage of bleed a bit like 15 or 25% of the damage i think things would be a bit more balanced but i don't read the patch
