I saw DB10 slow down time. Against Juve at home, roughly 5 mins left, DB10 had the ball on the edge of the box with two defenders around him. He dragged the ball this way and that for what seemed like 15-20 seconds, and then a third defender came. Then another defender came and for another 15+ secs, DB had the ball at his feet dragging it about. In the North Bank, we were just staring at the ball at DB's feet. As were the Juve defenders. Then he flicked the ball through for Freddie who's run had been missed by us and by the Juve defenders. I thought it had all lasted about 30-40 secs. But when I looked at the video recently, (3-1 from 2001/2) it was only about 5 secs.

I started to have interest in football when I was 14 years old in China, my classmates or friends who liked football only knew Man United, but even no one heard about Arsenal, because there were so few foreign football games on TV as nowadays in China. Several years later til 1997, Arsenal came into my eyes with their playing style, which was so special, fresh and delightful. And then I became a fan of Arsenal and particularly Bergkamp. IMO, Dennis Bergkamp was the best footballer half-striker(forwarder and midfielder) with so wonderful skills and assist initiative. Just think of the passes and assists to those team-mates, Wright, Anelka, Overmars, Adams, Ljungberg, Vieira, Henry, Wiltod, Pires, Reyes... Thanks a lot for DB10 making so much fantastic and legendary plays and moments in the football history!
I have met many football fans from outside England who supported Arsenal because of how much they admired Dennis Bergkamp. Even with other legends in the team, such as Vieira, Pires, Ljungberg, Henry, etc., it was Bergkamp who won them over.
Dennis Bergkamp is the most technically gifted player I've ever seen in my 50 years, he did things that nobody else could do or can do now, he was an absolute master of the game. Henry obviously scored 226 goals for The Arsenal so he is probably remembered more now but people who know their football properly appreciate the phenomenal talent that was Dennis Bergkamp. He's my favourite player of all time, not just for The Arsenal but in general, it's hard to explain but Dennis was just mesmerising to watch on the ball. The closest player to him now for unbelievable natural talent is Phil Foden, he's actually very similar to the Dutch wizard in my opinion.
For me Thierry Henry is the greatest Arsenal player I have ever seen in my life but Dennis Bergkamp is right up there. This man was an absolute genius of a footballer and made it look so easy. He scored some unbelievable goals and more so than that goal against Newcastle which I am sure we have replayed a million times. He was something unique and I think it's time people start appreciating him cos I feel a lot of people do not appreciate his unique talent. What a player he was. Simply a legend.
Bergkamp's signing was the beginning of a series of events that led to Wenger, Henry, Campbell, etc. David Dein is sorely missed at the club, he had the vision. I remember David Dein kept coming out the back of Highbury at the unveiling, nervously excited and adjusting his shirt cuffs inside his jacket sleeves endlessly. He knew what he'd done was significant.
I was really shocked when Bergkamp signed for Arsenal. He brought style and made Arsenal so enjoyable to watch. Thanks Dennis, you are the one man I would like to meet.
We absolutely loved you Mr Bergkamp. What a player you were for us. I've been watching since 1971 and you've given me the most pleasure to watch. As an Arsenal fan I feel privileged to have watched you play. Thank you so much

He certainly made his name here not just at the club but in English football. The best foreign player to play in England. Everyone knows who DB is and despite all he achieved he respects the club is bigger than he is, something some of today's players and fans need to note.

Bergkamp is God to me When I used to go to Highbury including Dennis Bergkamp day shown during this video the atmosphere was amazing the fans were knowledgeable and loyal. The players were loyal and wore the shirt like it mattered to them. I followed Arsenal to Ashburton Grove but along with God the atmosphere, loyalty, class and pride all left.
Not even an arsenal fan but loved watching Dennis play... his game against us in world Cup 94 and also that goal against Argentina in 98 semented him for me as a Brazilian!!! Absolutely fantastic player and the perfect mix of technical genius / creativity
one of the greatest technical & highest quality skills along world football history side by side with Edison Pele , Diego Mardona . Zinedin Zidan , George Best ....etc..
Don't think I've ever been more excited about a signing. His impact was massive. Pure talent. If we could sign someone similar..could be the difference for the 2022/2023 title.
An absolute master. I’m only 15mins in and I have to say that goal v Bolton gave me goosebumps had to rewind it and play again. Out of all of his many ridiculous goals & assists, that one against Bolton ranks very high for me. I was in the East stand upper tier that day, my god the place erupted when he let off that screamer! Those golden moments 🔥🙏🏼 Thank you Dennis! You were an absolute joy to watch and we are truly privileged to of had you at Arsenal 🙏🏼👑❤️
DB10 was the most important player for the Wenger era of 96 till 06. He was the nucleus, the engine, the glue that connected our midfield to our strikers and kept it together. Only real Arsenal fans of the old realize how crucial this man was to our success.
Dennis is just so special. Will NEVER be forgotten and we can never thank him enough. He’s one of my idols. But look at the players from 85 to 06- a who’s who of superstars. And look at poor Arsenal now. We are a shadow of the club we were. Makes me so sad.
So true I will always follow our boys but I must admit for my formative years 96 to 06 child to adulthood i was blessed with what I saw and now we are a team that people make fun of 😔
Thank you for this great film, you reminded me why Dennis was always my number 1 Arsenal player. He could thread exquisite balls through and cut out 4 players. Just magic.
Dennis Bergkamp was a sublime example of Art, Elegance and Football! All combined with such a beautiful personality and such a great team effort for the entire team and not self centred like no other player had this quality at that level. Love and respect to the Non Flying Dutch Man from the Dutch Man in UK!
Privileged to have watched him play, the best first touch in english football till this very day for me, his goal against newcastle will never ever be repeated ever again. There are good players then there are classy players, Dennis Bergkamp is classy.

I followed Arsenal to Ashburton Grove but along with God the atmosphere, loyalty, class and pride all left.
What humility and great achievement! Legend!
Not even an arsenal fan but loved watching Dennis play... his game against us in world Cup 94 and also that goal against Argentina in 98 semented him for me as a Brazilian!!! Absolutely fantastic player and the perfect mix of technical genius / creativity
Couldn't hold back the tears. This is the influence he had on us, Dennis "The Legendary" Bergkamp.
one of the greatest technical & highest quality skills along world football history side by side with Edison Pele , Diego Mardona . Zinedin Zidan , George Best ....etc..
Bergkamp and Zidane are equal. Just Bergkamp did not fly lol
Dont forget the legend that Bergkamp looked up too, Johan Cruijff.
Blessed r my eyes to witness this man play futbol. Golaso against Argentina 98', not even mad. Iceman DB10 . They dont make'em like him anymore ❤
Beyond world class. Legend
You were an absolute joy to watch and we are truly privileged to of had you at Arsenal 🙏🏼👑❤️
pure pure pure class. This man should just be mentioned about with Zidane or Messi etc.
Calm down
His is up there...DB was world class!
*Arsenal, Please do this More Often to Our Club Legends* 👍👌
*Much Appreciated* 😊
DB10 was the most important player for the Wenger era of 96 till 06. He was the nucleus, the engine, the glue that connected our midfield to our strikers and kept it together. Only real Arsenal fans of the old realize how crucial this man was to our success.
Without losing ! Arsenal gold generation
Dennis, I fell in love with football because of you, and as you left, football became meaningless to me. Thanks for making my life more beautiful.
Very very special player. Supported Arsenal all my life 36 now I can remember him coming to us. Forever be a legend
Dennis Bergkamp what a player. The best player ever to play in the premier league. Al time great
ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!
Dennis is just so special. Will NEVER be forgotten and we can never thank him enough. He’s one of my idols.
But look at the players from 85 to 06- a who’s who of superstars.
And look at poor Arsenal now. We are a shadow of the club we were. Makes me so sad.
So true I will always follow our boys but I must admit for my formative years 96 to 06 child to adulthood i was blessed with what I saw and now we are a team that people make fun of 😔
@@GoonerC5011 how about now?
@@insanewave4692 it Is back to watching the golden years ✨️ :) and I am super proud of the lads ... the whole squad !
those goals from Adams and Vieira at the last games of the seasons where we finished as champions still gives me goosebumps to this day!
Love and respect to the Non Flying Dutch Man from the Dutch Man in UK!
the greatest ever technically gifted player to ever play in the Premier League. ❤️
I was at that game for his debut against Middlesborough. What a fantastic player Bergkamp was.
Damn neighbors cutting onions again.
Mines too!
Mines too!
Underrated comment 👏🏾
Haha, do we have the same neighbors?
First ever game walking up the stairs at the north bank 96, first thing I saw Dennis doing kick ups, I’ve been hooked since
my hero of all time, Dennis is and was something else, extremely gifted and amazing to witness him playing.
Thank you Arsenal for this beautiful memories. Thank you Dennis for always giving 100% you are the BEST!!

Guy's the most perfect Footballer I've seen and he still has the audacity to say that he never played his perfect game 😂
Lol this so funny
It was a joy to watch a genius play the game, at the club I love, he is without doubt the greatest player to play for Arsenal, period DB10

Privileged to have watched him play, the best first touch in english football till this very day for me, his goal against newcastle will never ever be repeated ever again. There are good players then there are classy players, Dennis Bergkamp is classy.
