I really hope these mini "series" don't stop. These are the players that made arsenal. This is what we need. We need these type of players again. Keep em' coming Arsenal. Love hearing their insights and their love for our club.
I was on a standard Emirates stadium tour in 2017, where as Nigel was guiding an exclusive tour. I see him near the dug out and instinctively scream from Club level seats "Hello Nigel".. then immediately realised, oops shouldn't have done that. Couple of seconds later, Nigel looks up and says "Hello there". What a moment that was, I was buzzing even on my flight back to India. Brilliant player, true servant to Arsenal football club.. COYG!
They rarely make people now with the attitude, desire and commitment of Nigel. He was ridiculously underrated by England. A true legend. Always loved. And always in our hearts.
Winterburn. What a player. Unbelievable. Arsenal. If you see this, Please keep providing more of these legends documentaries. I would love to see Seaman, Kanu, Vieira, Overmars, Adams, Lauren, Ljungberg, Pires, Campbell, Wreh, O’Leary, Platt, Brady, Merson, Rocastle, Kevin Campbell, Wright and many many more. I would also love to see a documentary about George Graham too as he needs to be mentioned more often. We do not know or we forget as Arsenal fans that Graham used to play for Arsenal as well as be in charge of Arsenal.
Even as a Liverpool fan I love these Arsenal Legends documentaries. Nige, Dicko, Keown, Denis and Henry so far, all fab. Would like a Tony or Wrighty one. Good stuff.
I'm hoping there are episodes which feature players from the 1970s and earlier, plus a few post-Highbury players. It seems it's very focused on the Graham Era and the two doubles under Wenger
when I was a kid I never understood why England just didn't pick the back 5 of Arsenal as they were all class together... might have won something too.
@@Zauchi Club politics I suppose. Liverpool and Man Utd wouldn't have liked or stood for it. Stupid, I know but just playing for Man Utd or Liverpool is enough to get into the England squad, whereas if you play for Arsenal you actually have to prove you're worthy even if you're a better player. So many Arsenal players should've been in World Cup and Euro squads in the 90s. Players like Ian Wright, Lee Dixon and Ray Parlour being just a few others
Yeeeessssssss finally one of the real true legends of Arsenal I loveeeee Nigel so much beyond even description, he deserved more credit that he actually has and he was a brilliant footballer we love you Nigel
Back in those days the whole Calciopoli scandal would have allowed Mario & Luigi to form Super Mario FC and become a “great team” capable of breaking records and winning trophies in Italian football.
@Krish kr7 Let the dogs bark, if the Arsenal is called small club while having 10+ league titles then I shudder to think what S**rs are as a club ( London is red )
What an absolute legend this man was. He was a key part of that famous back four and was a crucial part of our success too. One of the greatest LBs to have ever played for the Arsenal imo. Simply a living legend and an epitome of what it means to play for Arsenal Football Club
I absolutely hated the back four at Arsenal with Winterburn, Dixon, Bould and Adams (and then Keown later), but they were some kind of players. Winterburn was superb and as a unit that back four was unreal. Arsenal were lucky to have them. Edit: Even as a Man United fan, this was a great documentary.
Met Nigel at an Arsenal match a few years back, an absolute gentleman. That legendary back 5 will always be remembered by me, I just wish the defenders we have today could follow in their footsteps.
The best Arsenal left back ever! Scored many wicked and important goals! His defensive ability, trophies won and longevity. He is clear of anybody else. One Nigel Winterburn!
So many wonderful memories of me and my friend supporting this wonderful football club I would not change a thing I absolutely love this football club 🔴
As others have said, please keep these 'Legends' films coming, AFC. They are a delight to watch and furnish us with that little bit more about our heroes as well as being a reminder of how lucky we are and have been to follow this club.
Emotional watching this mini series! When you compare those era of earlier 90s 2000s to today of football, I lose the passion I had for a football. But we still watch no matter where we stand in the table! We are gunners from a miles away!
on that golden sunny day at highbury in 98 against everton, one of my favourite memories of the day was being in the lower east at highbury when we won the title. And nigel winterburn tearing away like a 18 year old not a 35 year old down the touchline to celebrate in front of us. He felt like one of us, he was a fantastic player and a proper arsenal legend. Humble kind and deserving his status as a all time great at this club. thanks nutty.
Nigel Winterburn was an excellent left back for our club. We signed him from Wimbledon thirty-seven years ago. Winterburn was part of our back four that won the league title three times in 88-89, 90-91, and 97-98.
I've been following the club since 97 and it's nice to see these documentaries but I would love to see more of these about the gunners from the 60s and 70s. Don't know much other than what I read on Wikipedia.
I havent been born yet when Winterburn started to play for Arsenal, but looking at this documentary now, I think and believe Kieran Tierney can turn out to be another great legend at left back for this amazing football club just like Nigel Winterburn!
So dependable and consistent. Would have been an England mainstay if it wasn't for Pearce and was, IMO, just as good. That whole back 5 should have been the first names on the England team sheet.
Anyone watching this is a real one. It’s sad that the Documentaries about this clubs legends get such little views in comparison to the rest. Sad really
As a Liverpool fan and John Barnes obsessive I have a begrudging respect for Arsenal of this era. Had to skip the painful 1989 bit. But Adams Dixon Winterburn Bould Keown stoic tough competitive and all loyal - legends indeed!
Winterburn was a top level player. In international terms he was sandwiched between Sansom and Pearce who were better suited to international football. I would agree he should have been in more squads as the no. 2 LB. A true great of Arsenal Football Club.
Winterburn not sure about the reception he'd get when he came back with West Ham? He clearly doesn't understand how great a player he was for the club. Legend. Also funny how the applause he got made him forget the toss up for ends.
Dixon Winterburn were right up there with best FB partnerships. Robertson TAA are better going forward but not defensively. Man U had a few pairings to compete. Neville Heinze were close. Neville Irwin were perhaps the two I would put above them. McKimmie and D Robertson were good at Aberdeen but I never watched them compete at same level. The best I watched though was still Danny McGrain. If he had more speed nobody could have matched him. One of Celtics most undervalued players
Spotted a mistake in the video. A caption says that the Man U home win in 91 was the final game of the season, but it was actually the penultimate game.
I really hope these mini "series" don't stop. These are the players that made arsenal. This is what we need. We need these type of players again. Keep em' coming Arsenal. Love hearing their insights and their love for our club.
True there.. Love this series 👏👏
Absolutely. And there are many more that are real Arsenal Legends...this club has had so many inspiring players, just amazing.
You are so right.100%

Rocastle has passed away though how can they do it
Even as a Liverpool fan I love these Arsenal Legends documentaries. Nige, Dicko, Keown, Denis and Henry so far, all fab. Would like a Tony or Wrighty one. Good stuff.
Great to see more ppl watching it... It's a football treasure.. Some videos are just superb.
I'm hoping there are episodes which feature players from the 1970s and earlier, plus a few post-Highbury players. It seems it's very focused on the Graham Era and the two doubles under Wenger
Same here. I’m a United fan and I can appreciate these documentaries. Watched them all so far. Very well made.
Minus Keown
Congratulations on nearly winning your 19th League title mate. Your team has an incredible manager, great players and deserves to win the league.
A proper proper legend.
Long live Nigel❤️🙏
These are proper arsenal players know and respect the club inside out knew what it meant to wear our famous jersey! Winterburn ❤
So underrated.... when people think of arsenal legends they don't think of him but in his prime he was likenhenry
Proper legend. A winner yet remains so humble.
Man... his unexpected bullet strike against Chelsea is still fresh in my mind.
He did that a few times for Wimbledon before. Always knew he had it in him
Criminally underrated by the England National team. Should've played much more for England. Us Gooners know how good he was
Exactly
when I was a kid I never understood why England just didn't pick the back 5 of Arsenal as they were all class together... might have won something too.

Stuart Pierce was simply just a better player
Yeeeessssssss finally one of the real true legends of Arsenal I loveeeee Nigel so much beyond even description, he deserved more credit that he actually has and he was a brilliant footballer we love you Nigel
In his prime he was absolutely class, he’s often forgotten by many fans, truly underrated
Who needs Roberto carlos or Andy Robertson when you have the man, the myth, the legend NIGEL WINTERBURN
Liam Ferguson I remember when I used to see his name on the team sheet, it was simply comforting. I hope that makes sense. Reassurance I guess
Robertson was nowhere near Winterburns skill
Met him in my local shopping centre about 20 years ago still have the autograph to this day.
Absolute privilege to have this guy represent our great club
Fantastic servant to The Arsenal and part of arguably one of the best back 4’s ever. Highly underrated too.
It's not an argument because AC Milan had the best back 4
Back in those days the whole Calciopoli scandal would have allowed Mario & Luigi to form Super Mario FC and become a “great team” capable of breaking records and winning trophies in Italian football.
We need more characters like Nigel Winterburn in the arsenal coaching squad
Exactly he would give the youngsters a winning mentality
Small club

For 13 years he played his heart out for the club what ever accolades Nigel receives isn't not enough. So deserving to have his place on the Emirates.
20 days to go..... Countdown begins.
Can’t wait to watch Arsenal play.✌️🙏

there will never be another back 4 like dixon, adams, bould/keown and winterburn....forever etched in history of the English game
Lauren, Campbell, Adams, Cole cant be far behind but i agree with you
He was my favourite player till bergkamp came along , legend
Legend of the rarest kind - honest, reliable and trustworthy. What a player he was for us. COYG !!
The best Arsenal left back ever! Scored many wicked and important goals! His defensive ability, trophies won and longevity. He is clear of anybody else. One Nigel Winterburn!
A.79 didn’t he start as a right back at Arsenal?? As kenny sansome was still left back??
I dunno Sansom was real good
Kenny Sansom was arguably Englands best ever left back, never mind Arsenal’s.
@@cullyx2913 He was great but it's hard to argue for someone that pretty much won no trophies.
I love the stories about the regular guys, like Nigel, Perry Groves etc. He was an outstanding LB but also humble and a team player. Legend.
Seeing you on the team sheet was so comforting. Thank you so much. We love you at Arsenal.

winterburn has had that gobstopper since the 80s different class the lad go on nige
All time favourite of mine - loved to watch him - so quick and committed
Came through from Barnet I think then to Wimbledon where Dave Basset said he was outstanding for 4 seasons and then onto the Arsenal. Amazing.

LEGEND!
Without Viera there would be no Henry. What a combo the sniper and the hitman
Thx for everything and thx for the memories Nigel!!
Hope Arsenal players watch these documentaries especially the youngsters
Nigel was a superb LB. He scored some absolute screamers and I’d rate him higher than Ashley Cole for his achievements and longevity at the club
What a fantastic player
