Out of this world football, with the invincible season as icing on the cake. Too bad he never won a Champions League and f*ck we deserved to win that '98 WC. Scored one of the best goals ever there. I am sorry, but didn't he leave Ajax in the summer of 1992? Or was it 1993 maybe? Because he was at Ajax when they won the UEFA Cup in 1991/92 season. And I am 100% sure he was at Inter Milan during 1993/1994 season, cause I remember Jonk scoring in the UEFA Cup Final against Salzburg, and Jonk came with Bergkamp. Btw, it was nothing like Salzburg today. That was a real Cinderella story that Salzburg run. They beat Antwerpen, Sporting Lisbon, Eintracht (first time in history Austrian club knocked out German club from the competition), Karlsruhe, and lost to Inter in the Final.

It is so interesting that after his remarkable debut, he was struggling a lot in his first two years at Ajax. The media and public were critical, judging him as a elegant, but also fairly limited player , relying too much on one move (he did cut inside often, probably because he did not like being on the right wing ;)) Then he started scoring very regularly while coming on as a substitute, almost a goal per game. His scoring style then rather efficiënt at that time, relying on his incredible first touch, and precise aim. He was the reason I became an arsenal fan of sorts back in the 90s. The most elegant footballer I have ever seen, absolutely sublime. What wasn't sublime was that segment where Henry appeared, that made no sense to me. Retrace his steps? Win what? Who replaced whom where? Something seems off there.
Pity I only watched European football after the WC 98 in South Africa we could only watch European football if you have satellite tv so we only watched World Cup, 1st time I saw Bergkamp was WC 94 but 98 he captivated me with his turns and 1st touches, I remember the assist he gave Kluivert against Argentina also another assist against Yugoslavia then his goal against Argentina was something else. Then I watched him at Arsenal 1998/99 with Anelka was something else. He captivated me
That's a true football fan talking there. 👍Not many can appreciate those little works of arts and poetry some footballers are able to do. Their kind of football transcedents sport, it's more than a sport.
Cuz man’s first touch was insane… I wouldn’t dribble the ball if I had the nose for the ball like that. Everyone references the Pires pass, but it was such a fast sequence, but so much was going on. To flick the fast pass into a spin out to recover, takes a bunch of luck but logic to know where the ball will end up. If the defender had the foresight to just turn, he would’ve made a recovery. But damn if Bergkamp ain’t the essence of beautiful football 🤔❤️🥹
Long story short: Forget what was what on paper. On the pitch and in reality, the man occupied similar spaces to Zidane and did similar things. Except he has about double the amount of goals AND more assists. Despite being so highly rated, he is still underrated. If not for his fear of flying and the world not seeing him in Europe as much as they should have, he would have been rated as high as Zidane if not more so. Sublime player. A surgeon on the pitch. Ice cold. Clinical in all things attacking football and insane creativity. Absolute joy to watch.
He's football. His kind make the game more beautiful. My favourite players are Bergkamp, Xavi and Hazard. Messi's way beyond my comprehension & cognition.
Funny, in the first image of Cruyff in this little documentary, he wears a trainings jersey of Feyenoord, the arch enemy of Ajax. Cruyff played his last year for Feyenoord, because Ajax didn't want to extend his contract. Cruyff took revenge by making Feyenoord champion in his last year.
That goal against Newcastle, in my childhood when i saw that magic first time ( i saw it very late after he scored that goal, in the school on the internet in that time) and i was persist in my football "career" to recreate it. Even when we was playing on the asphalt and in the school etc. Everywhere. But i didnt have success unfortunately :( ... He was just pure magic, DB !
A true one off. Intelligence, miraculous first touch, vision, awareness, clinical in front of goal, and always had the ability to conjure up a moment of sheer brilliance, to win a game. I'll never forget the winning goal against Argentina, in France 98. It was outrageous. Another attribute he had was his nasty streak (Van Persie had it, too). He could look after himself, on the pitch, when necessary, which complimented all the technical qualities and his elegant style of play...
What a player. Still my favourite player of all time. You can enoy his goala, his assists. I could happily sit for an hour and watch that first touch. The most elegant footballer of my lifetime.
the first ever soccer pc game i played as a child not knowing much about soccer and its players bergkamp in this game stood out and was the first player i got to know. you can pass him the ball any where in the field. doesn't matter which direction he is facing or where he is standing, even in the middle of the field; you press shoot and the ball will magically curve into the net. you never miss. 😂😂 that was my first introduction to soccer and soccer players as a kid. Bergkamp. i still remember to this day. and him taking free kicks, easy goals...

Dennis was so, so good. His first touch was totally out of this world, and he did not need to put much effort to destroy defenses in the Premier League, not just with his goalscoring feats but also with his ability to create excellent chances for his teammates.
My 1st and still my ultra favorite player. I started playing at 16 since it wasn't offered where I'm from. I worked on 1st touch endlessly...couldn't get young players the past 20 yrs to take developing a soft 1st touch serious enough to be able catch keeper kicks over your shoulder.

What wasn't sublime was that segment where Henry appeared, that made no sense to me. Retrace his steps? Win what? Who replaced whom where? Something seems off there.
Dennis bergkamp is a true arsenal legend
WC 98 was in France. 2010 was in South Africa.
So many views already.
So few likes.
Still underrated AF!
They wanna keep it that way.
Legend.
Underrated player one of the best ❤
Still to this day, i think he's the best foreign player to grace the English league, proper professional on and off the pitch.
The Highbury era ended with the end of the Bergkamp era.
Been waiting for you to make this! 🙏
He's football. His kind make the game more beautiful. My favourite players are Bergkamp, Xavi and Hazard. Messi's way beyond my comprehension & cognition.
You re amazing story teller .. the comparison in the end was .. just on point.
incredible video, incredible player, thank you for this
So, Listen to this... 👌🏽🔥
So listen to this, has to be the best punchline ever❤🎉❤
3:34 - just pause it here and take a look at that team! Blind, Rijkaard, Wouters, Bosman, Muhren, Bergkamp, Van Basten... Holy Hellballs!
Bergkamp is the reason i started to love football.
This is exactly me. I rufuse to dribble. The problem is I can't score either.
Best player ive ever seen. The hat trick against Leicester (i think) was something else - 3 goal of the season contenders in one game. What a boy!!
What a player. Still my favourite player of all time. You can enoy his goala, his assists. I could happily sit for an hour and watch that first touch. The most elegant footballer of my lifetime.
Thank you for doing this video. Bergkamp is my all-time favorite.
Berkamp was an artist on the pitch. Marvellous player
Great video 👏 Dennis was my favorite player when I was kid. I would love to see you making a video about Cruyff.
the first ever soccer pc game i played as a child not knowing much about soccer and its players bergkamp in this game stood out and was the first player i got to know.
you can pass him the ball any where in the field. doesn't matter which direction he is facing or where he is standing, even in the middle of the field; you press shoot and the ball will magically curve into the net. you never miss. 😂😂 that was my first introduction to soccer and soccer players as a kid. Bergkamp. i still remember to this day. and him taking free kicks, easy goals...
What a story - What a narrator 💯
I'm a LFC fan I like watching bergkamp playing he's fantastic
99.9 % of players just play football. Just 0.01% of players can create art on the pitch. And Bergkamp is the the top football artist in history of the game.
The ice man cometh. I was Highbury against Coventry the game before he started with us it was a 0-0 draw in my first ever live game…..Bergkamp changed Arsenal and the premiership forever. A generational talent that can never be replicated.
When anybody says the words No.10 this is my man.
Bergkamp......genius does not describe him. Too many players called genius....when you have to name some of the greatest players of the modern game and if you have seen him play....Bergkamp will be on that list.
Not an Arsebal fan, but I will blow smoke up Bergkamps arse, he is without a doubt, the greatest Dutch player in my life time. Absolute talent. One of the premier league's greatest ever.
Good stuff mate, 🎉
Great video one of my favourite players, learnt so much watching this guy play the game. very special player
Crazy how once he won the goal of the month, was runner-up, and was third as well
Dennis was so, so good. His first touch was totally out of this world, and he did not need to put much effort to destroy defenses in the Premier League, not just with his goalscoring feats but also with his ability to create excellent chances for his teammates.
so listen to this is very iconic
My 1st and still my ultra favorite player. I started playing at 16 since it wasn't offered where I'm from. I worked on 1st touch endlessly...couldn't get young players the past 20 yrs to take developing a soft 1st touch serious enough to be able catch keeper kicks over your shoulder.
