I like how he says "my first goal was down there against Wimbledon", without mentioning the fact it was on his debut from 25 yards, and he stuck it in the top corner. What a legend.
You have to give Neville credit for this show. The concept is simple but works perfectly and Neville is truly exceptional at this style of interviewing.
I always thought Gary Neville was an absolute twat when he was playing but since he went into punditry I've gotten a lot more respect for him. Whatever you think about his opinions, at least he's honest.
Who would have thought that Neville would be such an amazing presenter? He's just so good. He knows what he's talking about, he has inside knowledge, he has a rapport with every player he talks with, he listens and asks the right questions. He's just so watchable, and makes all the players so watchable. Shearer used to get bagged for being "boring" and I know he's done a lot of work as a pundit since that, but he certainly isn't boring in this, and I think a lot of that is to do with Neville drawing people out. The interview with Keane was also really good.
I didn't know Mr Shearer's statue was just outside the stadium grounds , that really is petty and pathetic by Ashley. Thanks for another fun interview.

As a Newcastle fan, this interview really touches the heart and brings back sweet memories. We may have won nothing, but it was fun then. Crazy at times but fun most of the time.
Newcastle in the mid 90s was pretty fun to watch! Kevin Keegan at the helm, Les Ferdinand-Shearer scoring goals for fun, the two runner ups (behind ManU twice ffs), and also Roy Keane red card vs Alan Shearer in St James Park! 🤣

Hard work and passion can be moulded, it can get you a long way and allow somebody to realize their potential. The advice from his parents is fantastic.
As a football fan, of any team, you have to respect the loyalty he has to his team. Could’ve been main player in the treble winning team but chose to elevate his club instead of elevating his own career. Mad respect for this one
Yes he loved Newcastle so much he signed for Southampton at the other end of the country, then despite Newcastle wanting him to return he signed for Blackburn thats loyalty.

Thoroughly enjoyed that interview, Frank’s family must be so proud of his achievements and so grounded, his mum would certainly be proud , all the best for the future. A great interview from Gary Neville too.
Love these interviews from 90s / 00s heroes. Love how passionate they are about the fans in their home town clubs. But as soon as anyone mentions “the fans DESERVE it”…. 🤬🤬🤬
watching from brazil. back in the 90s newcastle united had a popular basis of fans here. Alan Shearer was popular, lots of kids wearing his 9 on their jerseys, alongside, of course, Ronaldo, Kluivert and others. Hope they can back to their previous excelency. St James is a beautiful stadium with passionate supporters. they have everything to be back on top
The kids in here in the 90s idolised the Brazilian team Ronaldo Rivaldo Ronhaldinho Romario etc. Powerful team but now in the last 20 years what's happened til the Brazilian team they lack quality and talent. Compared to the great teams of the past. Dont get me wrong I'm English and we've massively underperformed, albeit we got to semi final in 2018 and finalists of euro2020. Suppose the point is making his Brazilian used to develop superior players and teams now in last 20 years Europe is taken over in terms of talent skills systems tactics. Since 2002 last 4 winners been Italy 06 Spain 2010 Germany( in Brazil 7-1 ) and France in 2018. What's happened to Brazilian team???
@@DA-of9sv you're absolutely right, man. our national team is underperforming since around 2010. our clubs dont have the money to maintain the best players until 24, 25 years, when they're mature. nowadays, they go to europe with 17, 18. they mature under a different system, and happens very often that they dont get more chances to play over a similar european youngster. plus, we dont have a huge identification with our national team, you know? most of us dont even know who are those players, because they've never had a career in Brazil. Same happens in Argentina, Uruguay... The Three Lions squad looks nice with Declan Rice (love him), Rashford, Grealish. nice young squad

Guaranteed th percentage goes up with Shay in goal . Top shot stopper but nah not quite elite level
@@sf7862 Idk like he was unreal back in his day, bare in mind the defence in front of him was far from world class as well despite how good the attack and midfield was
Alan shearer was very underrated at a footballer. He was very quick before his serious injuries. He had one of the best first touches you will ever see & was also one of the best crossers of a ball you’ll see. The biggest compliment you can pay him is there isn’t a typical shearer goal. He scored all types of goals, tap ins, great in the air, smashed them in from 30 yards. But for the serious injuries he had his PL goal record would be uncatchable. Legend
Shearer makes a great point, in all cities I have been to, Newcastle is the only one where all you see is Newcastle tops. No other teams tops, only Newcastle. I have always been of the opinion that if your from a city/town you support that city/town.

Massive respect to Alan. If you turn down a club as big as Man United it only shows your loyalty towards the club that you love. One of the very few players where money was not the first priority.
These interviews with OG players are savage keep them coming
such a great interview, man i love Alan shearer he is 100% pure football and a top bloke and was bloody good at it too
TBH there is a lot of football programmes ATM and they all make me wince. This has really impressed me. Now a days its all subscription based so this is a blessing. The fan engagement is great and I feel there is genuine honesty from the guests.
Ngl Shearer is underrated everywhere apart from Newcastle Ik he’s a god up here but I feel like people don’t give him the recognition of the greatest striker the premier league has seen they focus on Rooney and Henry and aguero but I rarely see Shearer apart from Newcastle fans
Unreal player, up there with all of those players you named.
Rubbish
@@danm9297 deserves so much more credit as well he changed his game as a centre forward when he done his knee twice and still scored goals for fun
🤬🤬🤬
Love that song! Absolute classic! "The summer of 96!!! Ohhhh yeahhhh"
This guy gave me my fav years as a rovers fan was great to watch him live at ewood Park he was unreal :)
One of the best goals i saw Shearer score was a volley against Everton from outside the box. What a finish.
Even as a City fan. This series is absolutely brilliant. Keep them coming
Why would it matter what club you support 🤦♂️
watching from brazil. back in the 90s newcastle united had a popular basis of fans here.
@@DA-of9sv and i dont like the era of flopping. hate this kind of football, especially neymar and others. in the past, these kinds of plays would be ignored
The greatest goal scorer the premier league has ever seen. FACT
Played a lot more games than Henry!
@@stephenwilliams87 for Newcastle….
If Henry played his whole career in the Premier league he would have smashed that record!
@@stephenwilliams87 but he didn't?
@@stephenwilliams87 if he played for Newcastle he’d have got half as many goals as he did. If that.
Didn’t think I’d like this channel but I love it. Gary Neville’s interview style is spot on.
Had one of the best keepers at the time too Shay Given .
Nah Shay was a top quality shot stopper but was never elite level . He never ever came for crosses , he always sat on his line . Sometimes u need ur keeper to command his area n that's something he didn't n couldnt do . How many goals do teams concede from crosses when he's in goal ? Guaranteed th percentage goes up with Shay in goal . Top shot stopper but nah not quite elite level
@@sf7862 Idk like he was unreal back in his day, bare in mind the defence in front of him was far from world class as well despite how good the attack and midfield was
Given was class for Ireland in particular, saved us so many times.
Legend
Brilliant as always. Would have loved to have heard his thoughts on his England career
Shearer makes a great point, in all cities I have been to, Newcastle is the only one where all you see is Newcastle tops. No other teams tops, only Newcastle. I have always been of the opinion that if your from a city/town you support that city/town.
This man makes you proud to be a Geordie
One of them podcasts where you can watch over and over again and still think about different things each time
A true legend, imagine having loyalty in football. 👏
I'm a Sunderland fan !!! First episode I've watched. Loved it, fascinating. Great interview, total respect for Alan, have to admit he is a hero of mine as one of the GOAT. Great interview Gary. Will watch many more. Thank you.
Can’t beat the Shearer celebration
I can listen these two for hours. Overlap is the best thing Sky did in years
Even as a Sunderland fan you have to admire Alan Shearer. The guy was superb……..world class 👏👏👏
You're clearly not a Sunderland fan. He's an awful bloke. Good goalscorer, but a million miles away from admirable. Disrespected the East Durham mining community on multiple occasions - you must be from north of the Tyne.
@@peterhunt75 hey wot a disgrace u are bitter mackam u and your all time great gary Bennett
@@alanbarton4793 Wonderful and constructive contribution to the topic there Alan. Have a lovely weekend mate.
@@peterhunt75 nah pal a just don’t like people like u middle class gonk probley go to the match with a flask
Shearer's emerged as a really interesting pundit and seems to be a thoroughly, thoroughly decent person. Always a great listen.
These are so good, one of the best things on UA-cam right now. Any chance of one with Zola? Would love to see that
As a Man United fan tbh I love Alan Shearer!! Wish he had signed for us back in the day. Great interview.
Shame there wasn’t more about the most successful part of Alan’s career - his time at Blackburn and winning the Premier League title.
Just commented the same thing, all about his time at Newcastle which was a complete and utter failure, didn't even manage second let alone any silverware.
What absolute treasures both of these players/presenters are.
Really miss Sir Bobby. Brilliant man.
Love this video mancheneville interviewing Alan Shearer
About Mike Ashley Manchester Utd and more
This sorta of content is the future of media for big media channels like sky...class these are
Brilliant again Gary 👍 Alan seems so down to earth what a proper legend can’t wait for the next episode 👍👍
