  • In this week's episode of my journey to scratch, I present to you one of the best golf lessons I have ever taken with Zach. My natural club path tendencies were starting to creep up again, so we had to address them. This is a good reminder that a consistent in-to-out club path can make a huge difference in your ball flight.

    I DON'T KNOW WHO THIS GUY IS GIVING LESSONS... but of all the instructors with all the teaching accolades and big name students, most of what they teach is confusing, or made to impress, or a bunch of garbage, or a lot of unnecessary jargon. Not saying that there aren't instructors that are good, but this is the best. The way he breaks the swing down and explains... and asks questions to help the student understand himself.... priceless! And I'm not even done watching the video. The best instructional video I've seen, and I've watched about 100, if not more.

    10:35 I love how he says that's where you want to end up. "I mean, its exaggerated, you're never going to do it." I feel like most golfers ,when they have their bad habits ingrained, think they must be doing the change correctly because it feels so different. But they really aren't changing enough.We all need a coach or teacher to tell us go even further...start with a big change in your feels and you will find it's not as big as you think. Great lesson. Thanks for sharing.

    I’ve had a mental block for the last 6 months trying to learn to hit a draw. I would close the face before swinging but my brain would make me open up to hit the ball square causing a block push. While watching your video it just clicked. I ran out to my backyard and hit a beautiful draw over and over again for the first time since I started playing golf 18 months ago. Absolutely stoked! Great video! Thanks!

    First of all, thx for your videos, it helped me a lot. Can you tell us, what the club path and face angle should be with an Iron,Driver, So I mean what are ideal numbers here.

    • @ErndogGolf
      @ErndogGolf  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the support brother! It’ll really depend on what you prefer. I like to practice around 5 degrees in to out path with all of my clubs, and about 2.5 degrees open to target (or 2.5 degrees closed to your path). On the course, and I’m a little nervous and tight, that path is closer to 2-3 degrees in to out.
      The most important thing is making sure your path is in to out, and then cut that number in half for how open your face is to the target.

    • @ErndogGolf
      @ErndogGolf  8 місяців тому +2

      That's just kind of the modern instruction and swing. Made popular by the guys on tour. The thing is, those guys are insane athletes and most of us cannot get to the positions they get to. Check out Week 44 where Zach talks about that a bit more. Also if you're a fan of No Laying Up, last week's episode with Michael Kim is super interesting and they dive into that a good bit.

    • @rgreenii
      @rgreenii 9 місяців тому

      I like the course vlogs too, but I feel like the talking needs to be brief with more coverage of the playing. Keep the talking short and sweet with what you’re thinking before the shot and what you’re trying to accomplish on the shot. As you finish the shot a quick summary of “I pushed that one”, or “left the face open”, or “that was pretty perfect”. Then move on to the next one and repeat. Try to show 3-6 holes in a video, but if you could get through 9 in one video, it would be great.

  • @michaeljensen4095
    @michaeljensen4095 8 місяців тому +1

    Hah, I didn’t get through the first 4 minutes without going out twice to check things out on my hitting net. I always (for the last 4-5 months) do a warm-up where I go to the top of my backswing and then drop my hands - and then I hit the ball from there. If I do a pelvic shift forward then it is subtle and trying to emulate that (without setting up a video) didn’t feel right to me. I focus on holding my left side somewhat so I don’t sway and that may mean I’m already in that shifted position… Will have to check it out on camera. At any rate, the growth of your swing from a year ago to now is amazing. Lower scores will come!

      Hey there! Yeah, with the swing that Zach teaches (same swing as Hank Haney), you want to separate your chest and arms. Try to hold the chest back and let your arms pass through first!
