Patty is amazing. She's going into the Hall of Fame this year. So is Tanya Tucker - don't forget her.
Nice! I’m so happy to hear that for both Patty and Tanya!
That is so wonderful, for both her and the amazing Tanya Tucker. Two incredible talented ladies.
My favorite song of hers is "Blame it on Your Heart." It's definitely worth a listen.
Agree 💯!!!
I also agree. I’m watching the video now as I type. I forgot David Keith was in the video. Good stuff.
I don't think she has a bad song.
That’s my favorite too!
I agree, I know this song so well that I can do the chorus from memory. Listen to it and you will find out what I am talking about.
It's an old, old song but her version of "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" is one of the best.
live from Austin City Limits
Yes! I love that song by Patty!!!!!
Absolutely my favorite by her!!
"It's an old, old song" We just live in different worlds! I think that and I think back to the multitude of classics from the 1920's and 30's, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, ie songs that make up the Great American Songbook. You think "old, old" and her version comes from 2001. The original only dates to 1997. I just don't put the Spice Girls and Ethel Merman in the same camp😂.
She is awesome ❤try "Hurt me bad (in a real good way)"
I’m SO glad you guys finally got to Patty Loveless!! She is amazing! Please please please check out her live performance of “You’ll never leave Harlan Alive”. Please also check out “How can I Help you Say Goodbye”, “Timber I’m Falling in Love”, “I’m that kind of girl” and my favorite of hers “Here I am”. LOVE HER!
Yes!
"You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" is one of my top ten.
Hers may be the best cover ever for You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive
Ooh, "I'm that kind of girl" is awesome! As a kid growing up in the late 80s - 90s 😂
Really shows her vocals
She is the artist singing with vince gill on lots of his songs
You know it's hitting when they never pause the song.
I thought the same thing. Great song.
I think that was a first - no pause reaction. I think it was the intensity of the lyrics.😢 I love Patty Loveless ❤ miss her on the radio.
She does a lot of duets with Vince Gill. The Go Rest High on that Mountain is probably the most famous song she, Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs did together. Her voice blends so well with Vince Gill.
Vince and Patty harmonize amazingly! Vince said in an interview that Patty is his favorite person to sing with! Quite surprising considering he's married to Amy Grant and now a member of the Eagles! I believe they have about a dozen songs they have done together over the years!
Pocket Full of Gold is a good Vince/Patty song
And their friendship shines in the video of them singing "Go Rest High on that Mountain" at George Jones' funeral. Everyone needs a friend like Patty Loveless.
Don't forget Vince and Patty on "Nobody Answers When I Call Your Name."
Please listen to her singing YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE HARLAN ALIVE. It's awesome.
You’ll never leave Harlen Alive. A classic Patti Loveless Bluegrass song.
live version is best
She sang harmony on Vince Gill's "When I Call Your Name"
Also Pocketful of Gold and Go Rest High on that Mountain
Patty is Loretta Lynn’s cousin
She sings a duet with George Jones, You Don't Seem To Miss Me..... But my favorite song of hers is How Can I Help You Say Goodbye!!!❤❤❤
Oh I forgot about that one, so good!! I also love Here I Am.
Mine too ✌️
Lovely song but definitely tissue alert. :) It's one of those kind.
My favorite song of hers is "I try to think abut Elvis"! Country female artists that I think you'll like are Suzy Bogguss, Chely Wright, Teri Clark and Mindy McCready. My favorite Suzy Bogguss songs are "Aces" and "Letting Go". My favorite Chely Wright songs are "Single white female", and "Shut up and drive". My favorite songs by Teri Clark are "When boy meets girl" and "Poor, poor pitiful me". My favorite Mindy McCready songs are "Maybe he'll notice her now", "Ten Thousand Angels", and "A Girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do".
I'll second the request for Suzy Bogguss. She had many top hits in the 1990s. One of the best voices in country music at the time. I'll suggest the songs "Someday Soon", " Just Like the Weather" or "Hey Cinderella"
Kathy Mattea, Lorrie Morgan, Pam Tillis, so many. Mary Chapin Carpenter
Along those lines, all great suggestions. I'd say check out Anita Cochran's duet with Steve Wariner "What if I Said". Similar vintage song.
Mary Chaplin Carpenter is one of my favourites. You should check out “He thinks he’ll keep her”
Suzy Bogguss "Outbound Plane"!
Patty’s “ I’m that kinda girl” and “ I think about Elvis” are two great songs of hers.❤️
Those are my favorites of hers, too!
You should listen to her song "how can I help you say goodbye?" That is one of the best songs I ever heard and she does it beautifully.
Agreed!!!!
Oh, how I miss my Mama!
Omg I can't get through that one without crying.
Oh yes! That one gets me every time
Laura Branigan also recorded a version of "How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye." Not sure which one was first.
I cry every single time I hear that song.
Last year she did this as a duet with Chris Stapleton at a charity concert (Kentucky Rising) for the floods in Easter KY. The live performance is on UA-cam. They also they did “You’ll never leave Harlan Alive”
I left a link, sure hope they listen.
I've heard her sing it as a duet and also as a solo. Both gave me chills.
"Harlan" is such a great song. I did not know of the duet.
Patty Loveless is so incredible!! Amber needs to get her Bluegrass fix and listen to Patty's live performance of You'll Never Leave Harlin Alive. It is spectacular!! She has a lot of great songs!! So happy you finally got to her!! Although you have heard her singing backup on Vince Gill's song.
When she sings "you'll never leave Harlan alive" brings tears to your eyes because she puts in so much emotion
"How can I help you say goodbye" Will rip your heart strings and make you CRY! GUARANTEED. Patty is an Multiple award winner in All Music royalty! ACM, GRAMMYS, ETC.
Definitely give How can I help you...a listen ❤
Patty is a legend of 90s country. One of my favorites by her “You can feel bad if it makes you feel better”.
💖 Through her paternal line Patty is a distant cousin to sisters Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gale. She also grew up in Butcher Holler Kentucky, a daughter of a coal miner who married as a teen, divorced 10 years later and then became a singer. The women there could sing and tell a story!😍
Patty actually grew up in Pike County but indeed was a coal miner's daughter
Patty is the female vocalist with Vince Gill on Go rest high on that mountain. She also is the back up on many of Vince Gill's where you just see a female in the background in the video. Everyone always wonders who the female back up is on a lot of Vince Gill's songs, it was Patty Loveless and she and Vince are dear friends.
The great Patty Loveless is now inducted into the country music Hall of Fame. It is well deserved. She has another classic called, You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive. I’m sure others will agree that it’s one her best. although, this one is my favorite, I must say.
Patty Loveless is the cousin of Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle and her father was also a coal miner. She is an awesome singer and very underrated in my opinion. I would highly recommend reacting to Blame it on Your Heart. It's a honky tonk rocker that was written by Harlan Howard who co-wrote I Fall to Pieces for Patsy Cline. Two other stellar performances from Patty Loveless are Can't Stop Myself From Loving You and How Can I Help You Say Goodbye which was widely applauded by the mental health industry. Of course she has other great songs like Chains, Blue Side of Town, Nothing But the Wheel and You Can Feel Bad if it Makes You Feel Better.
she was never recognized by the “industry” for how great she is because she came out when country went pop. She is Amazing!
A Thousand Times A Day is my favorite Patty Loveless song...
Right, "Blame It On Your Heart" is the one you should have started with in terms of Patty Loveless; but also "Chains' and 'Timber I'm Falling" are both good too.
Love me some Patty Loveless she's just got a voice I could listen to all day.
“How can I help you say goodbye”. A tearjerker you’ll live.
Love this song, it’s so relatable
How can I help you say goodbye is another amazing song by her
You would absolutely love her song You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. It's got a bluegrass feel to it. Make sure you watch the video of her doing it live though, it's amazing!
I'm hitting like every time someone request that song, I believe they would be blown away by it!
Patty Loveless and Martina McBride can defiantly belt out a song.
Patty, Gillian Welsh, and Alison Krauss, all amazing roots music singers. All worth a listen.
Alison Kraus is so appreciated by ppl that know her....but overall underappreciated by the greater music fans. Not only is her voice AMAZING, but her talent in multiple instruments...incredible. She doesn't try to bring attention to herself...very humble....which might be part of the reason a lot of ppl dob't know her an her talent.
She’s got a lot of great songs.
This has been the best Female Friday in a while 💜💜💜
Kathy Mattea
"Where've you been"
A true tearjerker
Check out a late 90s country/bluegrass band called Nickel Creek (3 siblings) and their song “When you come back down” and then listen do their cover of “Shine”
WITH Miss Dolly Parton ❤
ETA: This song is described as “a promise to your children” and you get Mandolin AND Fiddle! 🤗
Patty Loveless and George Jones
"You Don't Seem To Miss Me"
Patty Loveless " You'll never leave Harlan alive" is one great version.
Patty is not my only favorite female country singer, she's my favorite female singer, maybe just singer, male or female. In my view, her voice and delivery cuts to the bone of any song.
She's got one of the most beautiful voices. So many great female country artists. Some of my favorites; Trisha Yearwood, Lori Morgan, Martina McBride to name just a few. So glad you both liked this one!
Yeah, still haven't reacted to Martina's Independence Day, and that shocks me!
My favorite of her's is "Nothing But The Wheel". Great song.
Us Eastern Kentucky folks are very proud of Patty, also of Loretta Lynn, Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson and many more. So much talent comes out of our little peace of heaven in them mountains.
Patty is just an amazing singer. She never got the accolades she deserved!
One of the greatest talents and underrated for sure!! She is amazing and definitely my FAVORITE!!!
You’ve GOT to hear her sing “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive.”
“You’ll never leave Harlan alive”- the live version- it will blow your mind
LOVE Patty Loveless so much. I always loved this song because the failed relationship was basically on both of them. Once you lose communication it's over. You might remember Patty for her back up singing with Vince Gill on "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and "When I Call Your Name".
another of her great songs is Nothing but the wheel...♥️♥️♥️♥️
I haven't even listened yet and I'm so happy! Obsessed with Patty. She's impeccable!!!
Oh, I'm sooo glad you listened! She is unbelievably underrated. Her early stuff if wonderful and I encourage you to check out the list below for some highlights. But her bluegrass albums are really where it's at. You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive, Diamond in My Crown, Pretty Little Miss... everything from her albums Mountain Soul 1 and 2 are brilliant and really get at the best of her talent.
Here I am
You Can Feel Bad
Lonely Too Long
That's the Kind of Mood I'm In
Hurt Me Bad In A Real Good Way
Blame it on Your Heart
I'm That Kind of Girl
Love Patti Loveless. “I Try to think about Elvis” shows her fun side.
Yes Yes YES!! Love Patty.... more please: Blame it on Your Heart, Chains, Timber I'm Falling in Love, her fabulous duet with Vince Gill - My Kinda Woman My Kinda Man, Hurt Me Bad, I Try to Think About Elvis, etc, etc.
“Nothing but the Wheel” is my favorite of Patty’s. A sad but gorgeous song.
Patty Loveless "Timber, I'm Falling In Love"
Give Patty Loveless Half way down a listen another great song.
Love Patty. My favorite of hers is "How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye". She did a great duet with Chris Stapleton "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" (I prefer the CMA performance). You really can't go wrong with any of her songs.
"You Don't Seem to Miss Me" - another really powerful one by Patti.
I agree 100%
I think that's the only reaction video I seen without pausing it, apparently you both really enjoyed it
Timber Im Falling In Love, Hurt Me Bad In A Real Good Way, Overtime, You Don't Seem To Miss Me, I Try To Think About Elvis, Blue Side Of Town, Here I Am, A Little Bit In Love With You, Mr Man In The Moon and the list could go on. Huge Patty Loveless fan here.
Finally!! Every single song by her is flat out REAL! Nothing but the Wheel! Plz! Also Sara Evans
Never heard this song before, and I love when that happens! Love getting to appreciate something new. Have a great weekend, y'all!
🚨SONG SUGGESTION🚨
Shadowboxer by Fiona Apple
Love Will Never Do Without You by Janet Jackson
Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson
You'll never leave Harlan alive. THIS IS A MUST LISTEN. Another good ol kentucky girl, we produce the best artist.
Patty is often better live than on recordings
Patti sang a song on stage with Chris Stapleton.
It was totally heart wrenching and soooo beautiful.
This wasn’t that long ago.
Thank you for doing Patty, she is my all time favorite female country vocalist. Saw her several times in concert and she killed it. Listen to you’ll never leave Harlan alive please
She grew up in a Kentucky town called Butcher Hollow. She's not only cousin to Crystal Gale and Loretta Lynn, she's a coal miner's daughter. She married as a teen and divorced 10 years later!
Wow! Patti had you mesmerized!! You didn’t even pause midway!! She also has done a lot of duets (everyone wanted to sing with her) George Jones, Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakum to name a few. Worth checking
The steal guitars make this song so beautiful, with Patty’s sweet voice, a Dolly Parton song that you might like is 9 to 5
This is a great song and I think the thing that stood out to me the most of your reaction is that you didn’t even pause it once, you both seemed to be so into the song and let it all marinate. Her voice is incredible. Love the reaction guys.
Patty is a natural beauty and a good country girl
Patty Loveless, Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Loretta Lynn, Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs and The judds all grew up in about 100 mile radius in Eastern Kentucky. I know there are more that's just off the top of my head. The next Patty loveless song should definitely be "you'll never leave Harlan alive". The live performance is definitely the best.
Keith Whitley too. They are collectively the reason US 23 is named the Country Music Highway in Kentucky.
Finally! Been dying for y'all to check out some Patty. I don't think I've ever seen a reaction where you haven't interrupted the song at least once to comment. That's a testament to Patty's storytelling...mesmerizing, right? Check out her duet with George Jones "You Don't Seem To Miss Me" sometime. By the way, Patty is Loretta Lynn's cousin.
Been dying for you to listen to more Patty Loveless. I think you did one before, but Patty is a deep well. Such a beautiful rich voice. She can break your heart... one of the most beautiful and heart wrenching songs by her is “How Can I Help You Say Goodbye”. Her duets with Vince Gill......amazing!!!! And she has duets with almost everyone, George Jones, George Strait, Ricky Skaggs, Ricky Van Shelton, Dwight Yokum even Bob Seger! You should check out her and Chris Stapleton!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you're not a crying mess at the end of that song I don't know what to tell you. 😢
I don't know who she is, but I love, love, love her voice. That... was beautiful. ❤💃🎼🎙🎶
90s country is a rabbit hole of greatness!
Probably her biggest hit is Chains. I LOVE HER MUSIC. She has a beautiful voice. I popped a lot of tops back in the day listening to her on the jukebox. 🎶🎵❤️
Wonderful voice and performance. Please give us more Patty Loveless. There are so many great female country artists from this era. Give ‘em a listen!
One of the great female country voices - both solo and part of a duet.
Jay, Shocked! Didn't even stop.. But you're right. Patty Loveless can SANG!
Patty Loveless is fabulous and teamed with Ricky Skaggs to compliment Vince Gill in Go Rest High on That Mountain, a real classic
100% you have to watch her LIVE performances !! They are outstanding. "You'll never leave Harlan alive" is #1 and this one is a close second !! Live performances truly show her talent 🩷
Totally correct!
Another great song by Patty Loveless is Nothin But The Wheel.
Patty is great!!!!!! She does many duets and harmonies with Vince Gill. One of my many favorite female artist of the 80s and 90s country. Great choice!! You Don't Seem to Miss Me is another great song by her. Chains Chains another great one.
I love patty loveless. I love this song.
You need to hear " how can I help you say goodbye"❤❤❤❤ or try to think about Elvis...
Great voice she and blue grass singer provides backup vocals with Vince Gill on Go Rest High on that Mountain.
Some old school country. I love when y'all totally get into the song and are completely silent. That is when I know y'all are totally into that artist. ♥️
Amber, Patty's backup singing is what made you like Vince Gill so much in "When I Call Your Name".
Patty can SANG yall!!! Patty has a Soul wrenching song in "How can i Help You Say Goodbye". Another great female singer Sara Evans You 2 will really love "You'll always be My Baby", anyone with a daughter, this one touches ."Born to Fly" "No Place That Far" has Vince Gill as the backup vocalist.
Patty Loveless is fire. She did this song with Chris Stapleton. She still has chops. She is also a cousin to the late great Lorretta Lynn
So happy you’re reacting to Patty Loveless. Please continue with her many hits.
Patty Loveless used to live in my hometown in NC. She is an outstanding country/bluegrass artist! Thanks for the awesome reaction!
Yes! Patty Loveless is amazing! My favorite song from her is "Blame it on Your Heart." Also, you reacted to a Vince Gill song a while back, "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and Patty Loveless was the female that was singing with Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs. Her voice is classic country!
Never leave Harlan alive is chilling, and awesome.
Live version
Oh man, Patty is a rare talent. Definitely do "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive".
Dolly suggestions: Two Doors Down, Why’d You Come in Here Looking Like That, and Love is Like a Butterfly!!! All wonderfully because ……duh….it’s Dolly! Thanks guys for all the great music!
Patty Loveless is one of the greatest female voices in all of country music and just great voices in general. Her voice is strong like whiskey yet smooth as bourbon. She tells stories like traditional country music used to do. Today's country music isn't like that anymore and it's a real shame. Seeing your reactions here were priceless! Keep up the great content.
Love Patty. "Here I Am", " Blame It On Your Heart", "Hslfway Down", " Timber Im falling In Love"
How can I help you say goodbye is one of her greatest.
Patty Loveless is a great singer. She sang backing vocals for several singers, Vince Gill being the most often. She had a very successful solo career. My favorite song (other than this one ) is "Lonely Too Long". Other hits were " Timber, I'm Falling In Love". " Chains" and "You Can Feel Bad".
My favorite of her MANY hits is a lesser one called "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive". Such a hauntingly beautiful song about doing what you must to survive hard times and provide for your family.
Patty is awesome. Love her voice. You must do "Nothin but the wheel". So many great tunes by her.
Just lost my husband of 27 years who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I kept strong through the years since diagnosis because I didn’t want to alarm him but promised myself that I would be there for the entire journey. Living had become loosing him a little more each day. Brilliant song that really tells the story of dementia; thanks to all who had a hand in writing/singing/recording the song and video.
