Another vote for Go Rest High on That Mountain by Vince. Everything by him is great. Now you know why they use a lap steel guitar in country music. It sounds like it is crying.
YES! 👍😃❣️
That is one of my favorites of his.
And I still believe in you and one more last chance are great too!
If you want to cry, do the live version of Go Rest High from George Jones funeral
@@garygoodman4342 yes
If you want to cry, listen to his recording of Go Rest High. He wrote it in tribute to his brother who passed away.
If you do the version done with Patty at the service for George Jones have a big box of tissues at hand !
His brother and Keith Whitley.
He started writing the song when his brother passed away. He put it away because he couldn't finish the song. When Keith Whitley passed away it gave Vince the inspiration to finish the song.
That’s wrong. He wrote It won’t be the same without you - for his brother
Go rest high was written for Keith Whitley. The lyrics are about Keith’s struggle with alcoholism and his song I’m no stranger to the rain. Gills brother died years after a car crash that left him in a coma with TBI.
@@crankyyankee7290 I hope they listen to a different version of Go Rest High first, because Vince Gill makes it seem to effortless to soar... which is what makes watching him struggle to sing it in tribute to George Jones so powerful.
Vince Gill's voice could melt butter
“Go Rest High On That Mountain “
OMG! The look on your faces when that chorus kicked in! Vince Gill and Patty Loveless harmonize perfectly and you can read it right on your faces!
Lol! I was waiting not so patiently for that.
Tears of sweet straight up 🔥FIRE🔥!! So good!
so many people don't know Patty was the harmonizing vocalist on this song. she is so great! Allyson Krause is the vocalist on going the river to pray.
Vince is one of the finest country and blue grass entertainers….period. His voice is wonderful, his instrumental talents are awe inspiring.
Vince Gill and Patty Loveless sang on so many of each other’s songs back in the 80’s and 90’s. Yes, their harmonies are so tight.
Wonderful Patty Loveless is the harmony.
another vote go rest high on that mountain the sound, harmonies, and lyrics are beautiful it was written by Vince gill for his brother who passed away suddenly they were extremely close
Vince on Reba's "the heart won't lie" is other worldly. got to hear 2 of Oklahoma finest together
One of my favorites, they sound perfect together.
That is one fantastic tune.
Big facts.
Thanks for suggesting this one. It's one of my favorite songs from either of them!
vince gill is as good as it comes, voice of an angel
Pocket full of gold is another example of duet perfection
One of the most perfect voices of all time.
Vince is harmonizing with Patty Loveless on this song. You should listen to her on Female Friday
So many of us came here to say that!
YES
Patty Loveless. Timber I'm falling in 😍
Or
You don't even know who I am.
Thank you - you saved me a google search.
The woman beautifully harmonizing with him is Patty Loveless, cousin to sisters Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle. Please listen to You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive. She had her own successful country and bluegrass career. She also sang harmonies with Vince on Go Rest On That Mountain.
Patty Loveless doing that awesome harmony.
Don’t forget that’s Patty Loveless pulling those amazing harmonies. Patty is a music road worth taking.
Yes! Some respect to Patty Loveless!!
Yes!
“Go Rest High On That Mountain” is one of the greatest songs ever written. You need to listen to the first version with Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless, who is singing the harmonies on this. Everything Patty has done with Vince is so great. Btw, Vince is currently part of the Eagles. Vince is so chill. 💜💜💜
And he started with Pure Prairie League.
Yes, that’s the version to do for sure! Magic.
Slight correction to your statement
ANYTHING Patty Lovelace does is great! But yes especially when she sings with Vince
@@steveg5933 I’ve seen Patty a bunch, and I do agree! 💜
The one with Alison Krause and Ricky Skaggs is also awesome
His song A Pocket Full of Gold.
Patty Loveless was the female singing in this song, her voice is golden just like Vince’s. Vince is also a great musician. Awesome guitar player, plays multiple musical instruments.
The lady harmonizing with him is an amazing artist in her own right. Her name is Patty Loveless, and her voice is absolutely stunning. I recommend her for Female Friday. Please listen to her songs 'How Can I Help You Say Goodbye' and 'Here I Am'. You will not be disappointed!
Also "Nothing But The Wheel". The steel guitar coming in when she describes the color of the sky and the fiddle on the solo always send chills down my back. Now THAT'S music!!!
"Here I Am" was written by the same guy who wrote Garth Brooks' "The Dance" - Tony Arata's songs have a somewhat different feel to them but still have that same country soul to them.
I love Patty Loveless!!
How Can I Help You Say Goodbye is too sad. I can't listen to it lol!
Patty Loveless is awesome, and she sings on numerous songs of Vince. This is why the Eagles hired him for his voice and awesome guitar skills.
I love when Vince and Patty sing together. It’s gold
Vince is a giant of a man with the voice of an angel. He shreds on the guitar as well.
Vince is an Icon! Can’t go wrong diving into that rabbit hole. “Pocket Full of Gold” is a MUST hear! He is one of the Greats.
The lady singing harmony with Vince is Patty Loveless. Check out her live version of "you'll never leave Harlan alive". It will blow you away.
That’s Patty Loveless singing the harmonizing vocals with Vince. She’s another great singer. You should check out “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am” by her.
I agree love Patty
I THOUGHT it sounded like her! She is so awesome!
Also check out by Patty Loveless You'll Never Leave Harlan County alive
Guys,
Vince Gills harmony literally takes me home!!! Especially when his falsetto blends in. It's as of I can't get enough.😊
Vince Gill has one of the best voices in country music history
You have to listen to “GO Rest High On That Mountain “ by Vince Gill!❤️❤️
YES!! ❣️😃👍
YES!
Bring a box of tissues 🤧 😢 you'll will need them
@@dustyhead3126 definitely!!
To miss Go Rest High on that Mountain is sad. It's so worth reacting to.
Vince's voice is admired by the whole music industry. He won Male Vocalist of the Year, many times. He's also respected for his guitar playing.
I know everyone's voting for Vince & ," Go rest high on that mountain." I love it. But, it's been played at so many funerals I've been to.... and ik somebody can agree with that. So, I cry everytime, but would love to see THAT REACTION!!! I love him!
Vince is also a very underrated guitarist and is now in the band "Eagles" a true musician who can do it all!!
World class guitar virtuoso. And as Chet Atkins said: not a bad singer either.
@@karlpatterson8437 Vince one of the best pickers of all time....any genre
Now we're getting SERIOUS! My wife and I have seen Vince Gill about a dozen times and he never disappoints. A voice that comes along once in a generation. "Colder Than Winter," "Pocket Full of Gold" and "I Still Believe In You" are absolutely essential listening.
I Still Believe In You is a must listen for sure
Vince Gill is Great, Great, Great!!
The woman singing harmony with him is Patty Loveless, who is a great artist in her own right. You need to check her out on female Friday. They are both wonderful as solo artists, but when they sing together its magic!
Please listen to "Whenever You Come Around". He wrote it about his (now) wife, Amy Grant...who would also be perfect for female Friday.
Patty Loveless singing “ You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” is some of the purest bluegrass you’ll ever hear…
One of my all time favourites from Vince is ‘Look at Us’. If you’re not crying by the end your heart is stone. His voice is smooth and mournful, you can’t help but feel the song. And the steel guitar solo?? Wow.
Vince Gill - Oklahoma Boarderline is banger.
Vince is a musician’s musician. He can play the strings off of a telecaster. Patty Loveless is singing harmony. Try You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive by her on female Friday. You won’t be disappointed
Second That!
Love me some Patty loveless too beautiful beautiful voice
" You don't even know who i am" by Patty is one of my favorites.
Check out his live performance of Oklahoma Borderline at ua-cam.com/video/Stv3ugVFZD8/v-deo.html
It has some conversation at the beginning that also shows what a humble, down-to-earth person he is, plus you'll love the song itself.
Fantastic suggestion!
Vince was in Pure Prairie League that had some commercial success early on and now sings with the Eagles.
Jay and Amber definitely need to hear PPL's "Let Me Love You Tonight" and "Still Right Here In My Heart" with Vince on lead vocals.
@@michlkwitz They sure do. Those were big pop hits back then both written by Vince. I have them on old 45 records.
Got to give patty loveless props too her voice is so beautiful
A great duet between Vince Gill and Carrie Underwood... How Great thou art..... a must listen!!
Spectacular ! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Vince Gill go rest high on the Mountain, you both will love it.
Vince Gill is one of my all time favorites. He can play the guitar like no other. I have seen him live 3 times and he sounds just like this. He started in a rock band called Pure Prairie League and is currently touring with the Eagles.
I was privileged to see him in concert once, and I have to say it was the best concert I've ever been too! He played with his band for like an hour, then came back on stage by himself and played for another hour or so just him and his guitars that were set up in a half circle around him! It was amazing and pure! Did you have a similar experience?
My wife and I have seen Vince and his wife Amy Grant do a Christmas concert at the Ryman Auditorium three times. They are wonderful every time. They sound amazing live. And Vince goes off on the guitar on a few of the numbers they do.
I didn't know he was in Pure Prairie League. I loved Amy, Amie? Can't remember how it's spelled.
Most people don't remember Pure Prairie League. Let alone that Vince Gill was a member of that group. Those who do remember know the different ranges of Vince Gill's voice and the wide variety of the music he did.
@@paulastephens2640 he wasn't in the band at the time that song came out, in 75. He was in the band from 78-82. The big hit he's on is Let Me Love You Tonight.
One of the greatest songs I have ever heard. Vince Gill’s voice is so amazing on his own but add Patty Loveless ‘s voice and together they are truly out of this world.
Nobody can whine like Vince he make you feel every single note he's singing
He's such a badass that he was asked to join the Eagles after Glenn Frey passed. Which he did. That's Patty Loveless singing backups. And yes, Go Rest High is a necessity. The live version with Patty and Ricky Skaggs is my favorite. Though the George Jones funeral version will make you cry.
Any version will move all. The George Jones memorial will require a fresh box of tissues
He was also asked to join Dire Straits
David, People tend to forget that Vince played at the Troubadour in West Hollywood in the 1970's where he met the Eagles. He is such a great guitarist.
I saw him with the Eagles recently. Fantastic!!!!
Also was in Pure Prairie League as well - Vince is an amazing talent !
That's Patty Loveless on background vocals. She's amazing. Be a great one to check out for female Friday.
Hey, long time no see
@@itsmedino hey brother! 💜 It's busy season so I can rarely catch videos as they're released. Plus the channel has blown up... hard to get a comment in early.
@@scapito too true. You been doing okay?
Vince Gill has SO MANY great songs!! GO down that rabbit hole!!
Welcome 🙏 too Vince Gill...I swear he's an angel..
VG is just pure country perfection. Sounds so good.
I agree with everyone else, Go Rest High On That Mountain needs to be next. Amazing song!
PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE do a reaction video to this singer I accidentally stumbled across recently. He BLEW me AWAY with his God-given, talented voice: JJ Grey and Mofro. The song that you MUST listen to is “Brighter Days!” It’s absolutely breathtaking from the moment he opens his mouth. He is SOOOO AMAZING AND TALENTED AND HUMBLE AND his voice is soooo SOULFUL! If you don’t choose to react to this song and singer, YOU WILL BE MAKING A BIG BIG BIG MUSTAKE!
the person singing backup is another amazing artist. Patty Loveless
After Glenn Frey of The Eagles passed, Vince was the most logical replacement to go on tour to fill Glenn's spot. His guitar playing ability and his voice matched perfectly with the classic Eagles harmonies.
He even covered "I Can't Tell You Why", though that's Tim Schmit's song rather than Glenn Frey's.
I’ve seen Vince plenty of times with the Eagles and he’s always been my favorite part of the show. He really puts his stamp on such classic songs that you can’t help but appreciate it.
He Hits those high notes like nobody's business
Vince Gill and Patty Loveless together are pure magic. When you look for Go Rest High on That Mountain, they sang it at the funeral of George Jones. Find that version. It is heart wrenching!
That performance was good and emotional but I think the live Opry house version(that a few others have reacted to) with Ricky Skaggs and Alison Krauss was tops.
The version with Alyson Krause and Ricky Skaggs is pretty awesome to
Would pay to see these kids respond to that day. Really enjoy these two
Vince Gill and the harmony of Patti Loveless is amazing!!
OMG I love Mr. Vincent Gill. You should hear go rest high on the mountain the song he wrote for his brother he sang it at George Jones funeral but warning have tissues ready because it will make you cry. He has a song with Reba McEntire The heart Won't lie
Can you guys give Rosanne Cash a try? Yes…Johnny’s daughter:
“Seven Year Ache”, “I Don’t Know Why you Don’t Want Me”, “Blue Moon With Heartache”, “If You Change Your Mind”, “Never Be You” (can hear Vince singing background), “If It Weren’t For Him” (duet w/ Vince)…trust me…she holds her own to the Cash legacy.
For sure,my wife and I met Rosanne at the Down From the Mountain tour and she treated us like her best friends ,her cover of her dad’s song Tennessee Flattop Box would be fun.
Yes, she does.
Her cover of Tennessee Flat Top Box is one of my favorite songs
She also did Tennessee Flat Top Box, just like her Daddy
I LOVE Rosanne Cash...."Seven Year Ache" is my favorite!!!! Yes I wish they would listen to her!!
Hey Jay and Amber!!! Now that you've heard Vince Gill sing, you need to take a listen to the original version of Go rest high on that mountain, written and recorded by Vince. It's about his older brother who died. You need to hear this!!!!
When it comes to beautiful songs, this is hard to beat! The singers, the instrumentals and a phenomenal arrangement.
HOW BOT VINCE'S, "LOOK AT US"!! WORDS & SONG IS VINCE AT HIS BEST!! AS USUAL!!
You need to watch Vince Gill and Patty Loveless singing at George Jones' funeral. George supported Vince when Vince was an up and coming artist. You guys reacted to George's biggest song, He Stopped Loving Her Today. As expected, George's death hit Vince especially hard. When Vince and Patty attempt to sing Go Rest High Upon That Mountain, the loss is almost too much for Vince to bear.
You ABSOLUTELY have to listen to Go Rest High On That Mountain. He wrote that about the passing of his brother. So powerful and amazing
Yes indeed! It is a tribute to his good friend, George Jones, shortly after he died.
He wrote it about Keith Whitley originally.
Vince Gill’s song Tryin’ to get over you. Is Especially powerful for me, because I experienced it. He sings beautifully and that song also
Between Vince’s voice and the instrumental of the piano and steel guitar…this song is a lullaby ❤
Vince Gill is great and has a very deep rabbit hole to go down with amazing music. This is one of his best. Patty Loveless is singing backup on this song and many more of Vince's song's. He got her started in the business. God slapped Patty Loveless on the voice because she has an amazing voice and is also beautiful. She is another big rabbit hole y'all have to check out. Her song " A Thousand Times a Day" is to me one of her best check it out. Amber I know how much you love Dolly. Well Patty Loveless will be your favorite of the late 80s and early 90s. Keep up the good work y'all.
He wrote ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ for his brother’s funeral, brilliant, moving song.
Pocket full of Gold, another great Vince Gill song
Vince and Patty Loveless are magic!
That was Allison Krauss singing “Down to the River to Pray.” You should do one of the duets she did with Robert Plant, pure pleasure!
Absolutely agree!! They were blown away by Led Zeppelin... They need to hear Robert Plant in a whole new way. Their duets are AMAZING!!!
"Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill .... trust me....listen to it...but prepare yourself
Gorgeous song with Vince Gill Singing and Patty Loveless singing harmony!!
Vince Gill and Patty Loveless together are angelic. Absolutely beautiful song and harmony.
You have to give props to Patty loveless for her help on the harmonies.
Vince’s library of music is unbelievable it’s all good has the voice of an angel the talent to write can shred a guitar like
No one else this man is a genius damn took you too long That’s Patty Lovelace singing with him
That wonderful blue grass female you hear harmonizing with him has been doing it most of her life. The two are cousins and grew up knowing each other. She is Patty Loveless and has many hits of her own.
That's the beautiful and talented Patty Loveless singing harmony with him. Seeing how y'all reacted to this, I guarantee that you would love "Go Rest High On That Mountain", again with Patty Loveless singing harmony.
The voice .... the voice! He has such a talent that he needs to share.
Vince Gill is so amazing. The Home Free song y'all reacted to called "Go Rest High On That Mountain" was actually written and first recorded by Vince." The Vince Gill rabbit hole is deep. I think the background singer is Patti Loveless. Patti is an awesome country singer in her own right. She's also a cousin of Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle.
I'm hoping they look into Patty Loveless, I think they would really like "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive"
His harmonies with Patty Loveless are life♥️
Vince and Patty have that Blood Harmony abilty. Pure heaven...
Vince Gill is an Oklahoma boy. He and Jimmy Webb wrote a song for Oklahoma's Centennial back in 2006. My favorite songs is "When my Amy prays" which he wrote for his wife Amy Grant. She sings contemporary Christian music. I love her. Vince Gill has been touring with the Eagles on the anniversary tour of Hotel California.
"Let There Be Peace On Earth" is another beautiful song he does.
Patty Loveless is the one he is harmonizing with. You need to list to her song, Help Me Say Goodbye! She is amazing also!
I am really glad a younger group decided to actually listen and give this a chance. I grew up in this era and enjoyed getting to be a part of the era that made some of the greatest music of all time. It really hasn’t been the same since and I’m a fan of all genres and time periods really.
You should do the official video, if you can. Vince is amazing! Patty Loveless is singing background for him. At the time, SHE was the big star, and he was trying, after several unsuccessful years in Nashville, to break through. This was his first big hit. He obviously made it! He has a long line of number One hits! He is one of the best guitar players in the history of Country music, too.
One of the best guitarists period. He can make a guitar sing the song.
Yes, i could NOT remember who was singing with him thank you
Matracia Berg, another great artist, is the woman in the video......although Patty did sing the harmony.
Patty Loveless should be next!!
Not exactly true. Vince has been in the music business a long time. He was with the pop country group Pure Prarie League in the early 80s. They had at least two big pop hits in 1980 and they were both written by Vince. He also had a big country hit around 86 or 87 with a song entitled Cinderella. It's true that this song and the album it came from was his first mega hit but he had plenty of success before this.
I think you'll like the harmonies on Seven Bridges Road by The Eagles. Vince has actually been playing with them on tour. They are playing Tulsa on May 16.
excellent choice!
One of the best vocal pairings ever is Vince Gill with Patty Loveless singing backups.
Harmonies with Vince & Patty are just Heavenly. ❤❤❤❤❤
The “Cry” in their voice! You feel that pain in the lyrics😢😢😢😢😢
Fair warning: Go Rest High on that Mountain you NEED to hear this song. But have tissues handy. Vince started to write it for his buddy Keith Whitley when he died, but did not finish it until his own brother died. The original version is with Bluegrass legends Ricky Skaggs and Patty Lovelace. The most poignant version is when he and Patty sang it for their dear friend the great George Jones ' funeral. Both are on YT.
Probably mentioned already but I think “Go Rest High…” has been played on the channel but sung here by Home Free which I remember they liked.
Patty Loveless on backup vocals is amazing.
Can you believe the Harmony of Vince Gill and Patty Loveless? WOW!
Vince Gill use to be with Pure Prarie League. His harmonies have always been outstanding! He is now playing with the Eagles since the band lost Glenn Frey, they are a group who are known for their harmonizing, so he's a perfect fit.
Patty Loveless in the background. She is amazing solo. You might want to check her out.
Another vote for “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Do the official video with Patty Loveless (harmonizing on this song) and Ricky Skaggs. Truly an amazingly beautiful song.
and def have those boxes of tissue handy.
But don’t listen in the car days after your dad passes - you won’t be able to drive because of the tears!! 😭
He is one of the best singers ever. You can feel his spirituality.❤
Awesome song, I've loved it for years, he has the most relaxing voice and such a humble man.
Patty Loveless on harmony. She's another artist you can go down a rabbit hole on. She is Loretta Lynn's distant cousin. You MUST watch the two of them perform "Go Rest High On That Mountain" at George Jone's funeral.
I agree with the comments saying react to "Go Rest High On That Mountain"... one of the best songs ever... I love it when Vince sang it at George Jones's funeral... he was in tears!! Very emotional and awesome!!
Amber will need a tissue
I loved that Patty stepped up and covered for him when it got too emotional for him to continue. Singing the song for his good friend George brought up all kinds of emotions about his brother.
"House of Love" with Amy Grant is another one to check out.. He does one with Sara Evans as well called "No Place That Far".. So many great Vince Gill songs...
Go Rest High on That Mountain will give you instant goosebumps and will probably make you cry. Absolutely beautiful, and the harmonies are gorgeous.
