She spends a solid two or three minutes telling the audience why the song means so much to her and about her family history. Then she proceeds to give probably her best vocal performance ever. It is amazing to watch and actually really informative. The way she uses different mouth shapes or subtle changes in the tension of her jaw to raise and lower notes is crazy.

My favourite song of hers is ( How can I help you say goodbye) . This song came out when my mom was diagnosed with Cancer. It was one of the things that helped me get through my mom's treatments and her death of Cancer.
The steel guitar is producing the high pitched sounds you're hearing. In the hands of a skilled player, it is a wonderful instrument and it can really tug at your heart strings in a sad song. Patty mostly sings Bluegrass and Gospel now but she excels in any genre. A wonderful and sometimes forgotten talent.

I absolutely LOVE that you have discovered Patty Loveless. I met her at a Nashville Fan Fair probably 35 years ago and she is my absolute favorite Country Music Singer. I grew up around Patty Loveless back in the day she was the lead singer for my dad's band she sung Rock back then she loved Linda Ronstadt the Eagles things like that my family is very musical so I would sing with her when my dad would be playing we would go to an old barn and just have so much fun because they were really loud so they found an old barn to play in my dad and my sister passed away two years ago on the same day 12 hours apart.. I'm the last of my family I miss him so much I really miss my dad playing his guitar he was so amazing Patty Loveless said in an interview once that her best guitarist was my dad his name was Randy Walker and by the way she is so incredibly nice love you Patty I always will.. you have to read between the lines in this song. it starts out she has all she can stand. she leaves the car, the kids, the keys, the laundry and the grocery list. she doesnt want to do it anymore. she claims he doesnt know he she is, so he shouldnt care if she leaves. BUT, when the husband sees what she has done, he thinks he should call her and apologize. but he doesnt know why. she hasnt told him anything. he goes to work everyday and comes home to her, does what a husband should do. BUT, she doesnt think about him, only herself, so he tells her you dont even know who i am, SO WHY SHOULD I CARE IF YOU GO. its a good song, a sad song, but its also what happens all the time in marriages, the wife cooks, cleans, takes care of the kids while he is at work. she looks at it as if she is at home all the time and he is gone all the time. she only sees it from her side. typical.

Been there, got the T-shirt. In most situations we (people) tend to be so focused on ourselves, on being the victim, of the things that someone else has done to us, that we often fail to look at the things we've done (or haven't done) that made the situation the way it is. Sometimes it only takes one action, one time where we hurt the other person, one thing we don't remember doing.. that starts the journey down the road to resentment and distancing. I know with me personally.. once someone hurts me.. I find it extremely difficult to ever let that go. If you know someone who is struggling with something, it could be a simple as their weight, don't use that against them, don't make light of it. That one thing could be, to them, a major struggle in their lives, and if you put them down, even jokingly, you could harm your relationship forever. That person may never forgive you for making them fell less of a person.
