thing is no one can read the true bible. it's been corrupted by hateful people. translations aren't accurate. The most accurate is the King James Versions of the bible. The other versions are far gone. The truest Bible is the bible in its original language. People can't just take any bible, read it, and make their thoughts because that Bible was man-altered

    • @RB-bd5tz

According to the Bible, there is. We should define "perfect" from how it's used in the Bible to describe people. From the verses below (and there are more than this) it would seem to mean: attempting to follow the example of Jesus as best you can, being forgiven of your sins (having them erased from your record) and repenting (abandoning sinful habits), doing good works, and being united with other Christians.
Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
Luke 6:40 "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master."
John 17:23 (Jesus praying regarding His disciples) "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one [i.e. unity of mind and purpose] ..."
2 Timothy 3:17 "That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
James 1:4 "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
James 3:2 " ... If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body."

To my fellow “Christians” who are leaving hateful comments on this video:
    Matthew 22: 36-40
[36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
[38] This is the first and great commandment.
[39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
    John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    1 John 2:9-11
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
Basically. One thing is needed to get into the kingdom of God. Belief in Jesus as his son, and that he’s taken your sins. The fact that you are using God’s word to hate on pastors that share their interpretations on scripture (which, by the way, i can assure you that all of you read interpretations of the Bible allegedly “every day”) and to hate on people because of who they love is the real blasphemy here. Love God, Love Your Neighbor. Since y’all are “so direct”, let me just point out that there is no “unless” after that scripture.
So, if you hate people so much for who they are, there is no need to talk about it, ESPECIALLY in Jesus’s name. That’s blasphemous. Bigots like you people are the reason so many people turn away from or refuse to associate with Christianity. Though we, as Christians should be loving, all we seem to send towards other is judgement and hate. Who do you think you are?

    -A 15 Year Old Christian.

Better is open rebuke Than love that is concealed. (Proverbs 27:5)
The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. (1 Corinthians 2:15)
Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

I like how the two ministers talk about not twisting scripture, and look at the entire context, then they go ahead and twist scripture and not look at the entire context. The bible is supposed to be a book that teaches righteousness and love, yet when people accept sin and corruption as okay and acceptable just to please some political agenda, you're not loving people - you're misguiding them. Sin is a sin, and we're all sinners. We come before God and thank Jesus for his sacrifice to deliver us from sin. We don't go ahead and say well now we're saved, it is okay to keep sinning. Instead, we study the scripture to know right from wrong and we discipline ourselves to prevent our sinful nature from taking control. Likewise, we shouldn't tell people that what they're doing is okay, just to make them feel better about themselves. When people say homosexuality is not a sin and is okay, they're only going to trip these people from following God. You should love them because we're all children of God, but instead of saying what they're doing is okay, you need to guide them and make them better. A good example is mental disorders such as depression. You shouldn't threaten, mock, or seclude people with depression and other mental disorders, nor should you say that feel depressed and suicidal is normal and they're totally okay. Instead, you need to show them love and support and help them get better.

Lt. Nan , sin is sin. What is sin? Think about Jesus and the whole cross scenario. Why did God forsake Jesus that day? What was put upon Jesus that made God look the other way? God could have saved him. Why didn't he? Isn't it not stated, 'flesh is to sin?' God is not about saving flesh. Flesh equates to sin. That's why we ARE sinners. This flesh; this corruptible shell we reside in. God is seeking that which resides in that shell, that fleshy house; The Spirt. As long as we live on earth, we will always be separated from God. We must move away from, "your "sin" is worse than mine." Your flesh is not worse than mine because it is ALL SIN in HIS eyes. The sooner we can realize that, we can really work on what God intended; that Holy Spirit filled relationship with HIM. You can only serve God in spirit and in truth.

Their version of Hebrew has no similarity to the Paleo-Hebrew language in use by the writers of the Old Testament. If the people who identify as the Jewish racial groups today were the Hebrews of ancient biblical script, they would not have developed their own language and call it Hebrew. They would have simply improved upon their original Hebrew language and we would find the Paleo-Hebrew roots within their version and this does not exist. The racial group of the Paleo-Hebrew language would be the genetic lineage of Israel. Did the people who call themselves Jews reinvent themselves in 400BC?

First off, the Bible does say a lot about who God is.
Secondly, the Bible does have one definition of marriage.
Thirdly, I find it funny that they took the story of Sodom out of context. It wasn't just two men that went into the town. It was two angels in the form of men.
Fourthly(?), the Galatians scripture CANNOT be used for a counterpoint for gender identity. The "bathroom" issue is over a physical presence, not a spiritual issue. "There's no man or woman" is meant to reflect on the fact that the soul is what is being saved and redeemed, not the social status.

Now, there *are* translations that come out a little different than the King James, but, to the extent that this is a result if using different sources, these simply privilege different manuscripts *of the same language.* There is no version that relies on "the original Aramaic," because, even if such manuscripts ever existed (and we don't know that they did), there are certainly no copies of these around today.

Aramaic, Greek, Hebrews, Italian, and likely many others were the languages spoken in scripture. Someone translated them at some point in time using understanding from their time and context into Latin. It is retranslated, updated, etc by people over time using their best judgement from their historic contexts. That people would be willing to condemn a whole group of people based on a very few passages that may or may not apply to that group and which has been translated and retranslated over time by various peoples from various contexts without even entertaining the POSSIBILITY they could have less than clear understanding is insane.

@@TheWorldisInfinite By all means I don't agree twisting what the Bible says to fit one's own ideas. I have always sought to follow what it teaches. But every commentary I've looked at seeks to understand its message by following these people's method: note what it says and what it doesn't say (i.e. read it carefully without presuppositions) and take it the way the original readers would have taken it. That means learning the cultural and historical context and seeing how that helps you understand the message. This video then applies that principle to the example of the story of Lot's rescue and shows that it teaches the exact opposite of how some people choose to misuse it.
However you choose to interpret the Bible, I have studied God's word carefully and I agree with these people's conclusions: there is no evidence that same secs relationships are wrong. That's a man-made tradition that nullifies the word of God, that pushes people away from the gospel of grace, and has done so much harm that the church has blood on its hands and has brought the way of Christ into disrepute.
Please don't confuse fellowship with the Spirit with feeding your instinctive bias against minorities that are different to you. And I have been hearing more of this belief in infallibility lately. Can you believe some guy in my church claimed that the Spirit led him to believe that the creation story was a historical account!?
The protestant belief is that the church can err. You can err. Sorry to be blunt but falling back on a claim that God himself has revealed the right interpretation to you is a crutch to save you from admitting that you can and have made a mistake.

The experience I saw was very traumatizing and almost made me not wanna be close to anyone. But Jesus went through the same criticism and was stoned to death all because of ignorance and before he died on the cross, he pleaded "father please forgive them for they do not know what they are doing!". So being christians not even about looking pretty to mans eyes it's to endure everything for him till the end. He even stated somewhere in the Bible that as a Christian you will face hardship and it's inavitable but the love is what cushions the blows. So loving hard is the only thing that can save anyone if you ask me. Love God, love everyone even though they can be very ignorant, and most of all love yourself. That's what he wants you to do because he created you as his most beautiful creation.

ngay63 also dishonest, arrogant pride, and sowing evil discord is an abomination too which means it shouldn't be present anywhere in a follower of Christ. A real true genuine Christian is too busy looking at their own flaws way before they look at anyone else's and when they do they have tears of empathy because they know dang well they aren't perfect either. It's a process. So my advice for condemned people who want to be followers of Christ. Just like how success you have to forget what people say and listen to your own voice and people's opinions have been proving wrong millions of times in this world so why listen so much on them. Opinions obviously doesn't require a lot of deep thought to say so you should feel sorry for their poor reasoning and pray for them even when they see you getting blessed and getting jealous wondering why. Then their eyes will probably open. So we are here to save the blinded world to see the truth but we have to love each other first and to love takes understanding and to understand takes time and to understand completely takes a lot of time but in the end everyone cries tears of joy for each other. We are just the missing pieces of each other and the devil tries to create confusion to break us apart and destroy Gods creation which is very sad and I'm pretty sure God is upset about it and has every lasting hope for us and wants us to one day come back to one mind again which is love.

I don't know if the Bible is for everyone it definitely was for me. But I believe everybody should be in touch with an inner peace and if it takes the Bible reading to help you get there so be it, if it takes the Quran or the Torah to get there so be it. God's words are universal they're beautiful, as long as man is trying to help each other trying to protect women trying to educate our children and trying to better the world I think we're all doing right by God. That's when a person judges that they're wrong. Nobody can judge but God. Period. So two people trying to prove a point by using the Bible they're both wrong, they're both not God. And they're sitting there arguingly blind then they're forgetting the words of the Bible they're reading.

For humans, love is natural and has no boundaries or human control. Therefore people have no control with whom they will fall in love. Most people look for love, and when it comes it is magic, irrespective of gender. Hatred is taught. Most hatred against homosexuality is taught to young people by people who follow one religion are another. IMO all religions are man-made fairy tales mostly written in an age when world literacy was low and the knowledge of science, mathematics and the universe was much less than it is today. Even today we know very little about creation, but enough to debunk many of these so-called religious myths. All religions attempt to control people and tell them what to do. It is a great way for those in power to control the people providing the people are daft enough to believe it.

(1Cor 6 somewhere around the 10th verse I think) So there really isn't a way where it is allowed. Note: The bible never condemns being gay, just the act... But then again, if you say: "Who even cares about what the bible says, stories of thousands of years ago" why should you care about what the bible says about anything???

    • @Beppercorn
      @Beppercorn 8 років тому +2

    • @Beppercorn

David Rutgers Sure, but it will be long winded. I also don't pretend to be an expert in theology in any way, I have found this argument in articles and interviews with experts in theology, and I'll try to reply with sources, but I basically have committed this to memory.
Ok so essentially what is important to remember with the letters written by Paul, is that they are letters written usually to a specific people. The letter he wrote to the Romans is different than the letter he wrote to the Corinthians. They have the same theme and message, essentially, but Paul was actually really good at paying attention to his audience. The different groups he wrote to all had different perceptions of Christianity, they all had different traditions, ideologies, histories, etc.
For example, the letter to the Ephesians talks about acceptance of Gentiles into Christianity more than some other letters, because they was a larger issue in that group. There was a lot of sentiment that Gentiles had no place, as they were not Jewish before Jesus came, and they weren't circumcised, and so on.
On to your verse. I Cor 6 v9 lists all these unrighteous traits that shall not inherit the kingdom of God. It lists adulterers, thieves, the greedy, etc. It also says "abusers of themselves with mankind," which is the part most commonly interpreted as about male on male intercourse.
Here is the context with verses like these. We see similar ones in other letters (there is another example in Romans), and what I have found really important is that the people that Paul is writing to here have NO history of Christianity, and to some extent, little history of Judaism. Very similar to the teachings on circumcision, these people knew little about what was the baseline in a moral Christian life. The traditions or practices of each group were interfering spiritually, and they did not realize it.
Paul used his letters to emphasize the spirit that a Christian should have. For each group, he had to explain what practices in each group were in violation to the morality of a christian. he used examples of people and practices, not to point out inherit sin, but to point out how easily these can lead to sin. it would seem, through Scripture, that being a tax collector is a sin, but in reality, tax collectors were just a really good example of greed. Paul pointed out tax collectors to show a person that everyone knew who might be corrupted with greed.
In the "abusers" example above, and through the original Hebrew translation, he was pointing out the only practice of gay sex that was commonly know and reported at that time. Within the Corinthians, and also with the Romans, it was really common for highly ranked men, in politics or in military, to rape young male servants, mostly young teenagers. This was no secret, but it wasn't really addressed as a problem. Paul pointed out that this practice was ungodly, violent, and wrong. He could not have been talking about a modern, consenting gay couple, as these did not exist at this time. The form of gay sex that he was condemning was essentially institutionalized rape of young men by their older masters.
many modern Christian leaders interpret now, that an adult, consenting gay couple essentially should follow the same moral restrictions as a straight couple, and that both relationships would be recognized equally by God
it would be really easy to discount this explanation with "but Paul just meant that all gay sex is wrong," but all examples of sex being talked about as sinful in the New testament are examples of extramarital sex, (a breach of trust with your spouse), or violent rape of a slave.

It's about cherry pickers of the Bible who on one hand claim it its literally the Word of God so mist be taken as written (usually about LGBT people or evolution) and point out the proven history in the book (that certain people named in the Bible did exist proven by historical records ) then when it comes to things they do not want to do,like walk away (brush the sand from your feet and depart ) when their preaching falls on deaf ears or they push to be able to picket/verbally assault people (like Westboro Baptist), they claim the scripture is either open to interpretation or is ideal rather than a direct decree

Although I admire their assertion that the Bible needs to be read against the appropriate contexts, I do not think their conclusion that homosexuality is not a sin is sound.
My major criticism is that the speakers fail to account for many other verses in the Torah and the New Testament writings in their exegesis of the passages they spoke about, such as:
    (a) Leviticus 18:22
    (b) Leviticus 20:10
    (c) Romans 1:26-27
    (d) 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
(In addition, despite their claim that Bible has "many voices," it is a fact that Bible has never addressed homosexuality in a positive light.)
I was hoping to see these verses addressed and discussed, but I think they were more concerned about passage of lesser significance. For example:
    (a) Conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts: If they meant to attack the misconceived notion that those of LGBTQI community can't become children of God, the speakers succeeded well. Otherwise, this is a total strawman, if they were aiming at biblical Christianity (refer to Romans 3:21-26).
Therefore, because they fail to address more significant verses that explicitly mention homosexuality, the conclusion that homosexuality is not a sin is unsound.

You can’t twist it like that.

    • @MusicalRaichu
      @MusicalRaichu 3 роки тому +14

It's not just that they don't "want" it to be true. It's that God created people with physical and emotional needs: "It is not good for man to be alone". Telling people that God made them with these needs but arbitrarily forbids them from fulfilling them misrepresents God as cruel, and subjects people to needless lifelong suffering.
They are not twisting God's word, they are correcting other people's twisted interpretations. They explicitly say that you need to look at what God's word actually says and what it does not say, and to understand it as the original readers would have understood it. This is not wrong, this is what every Bible commentary on my bookshelf does.
They then illustrate this principle with a popularly misunderstood story and show how, when read carefully, it teaches the exact opposite of what people make out it does.
I agree "why do we care" was not phrased well. What he's saying is that it's wrong to take texts written thousands of years ago without taking into account what people understood at the time, and to ignore the wealth of knowledge we have today. Later on he affirms that we should take the Bible seriously and learn the right lessons from it.

    Mathew 22:36-40 ( Jesus speaking)
My first commandment is to love the lord with all your heart, mind, and soul. My second is just like the first, love your neighbor as yourself. ALL THE LAWS AND PROPHETS SHALL HANG ON THESE COMMANDMENTS. Let's say the old testament does condemn homosexuality. Wasn't the whole point of God coming to earth (jesus) to change the old ways. It also states in the old testament that one shouldn't wear garments woven from two different materials. Jesus came to show us that these things were nonsense. He COMMANDED us to love each other like we love God. If you're judging, you're not loving. If you make laws that discriminate against any person, you're violating Jesus's commandments as discrimination is the opposite of love.

@@Megan-nr7xe it's not hate, there's a stigma against Christ followers that we are full of hate, that we're trying to shove the Bible down people's throats, etc, but people fail to realize that genuine Christ followers struggle with sin, but thanks to God's grace, forgiveness through Jesus' sacrifice, and the direction of God's Word, we are able to move past that. There are a lot of "Christians" who try to use to Bible as a way of judging non believers (which is not Biblical at all). Trust me, they will get what's coming to them. Even then, I'm called to love people and please God, I'm not going to shove my beliefs down your throat, but I'm not going to change them for anyone either, Christianity isn't a practice, its a lifestyle.

It angers me. Much of the Old Testament is literally “reporting the news”. It’s telling us what happened. Just because Abraham does something, or Jacob does something, or the tribe of Benjamin does something doesn’t make it right. It’s just saying it happened.
When the law says “don’t do x” then it’s there for a reason. When Jesus came He didn’t abolish the law, “Not one dot of the law will pass away”, He fulfilled it. And Jesus wasn’t a new creation. He was there since the beginning.
