- When Debbie Crankin told her heart breaking story back in mid 2021, her TikTok audience poured their hearts out both emotionally and financially. Deborah Crankin would raise more than $350,000 US Dollars through GoFundMe after running the narrative that she was a "struggling black transgender woman". However, when the whole thing was exposed as fake, Debbie's world came crumbling down. This video will tell that story.

I once tried a fundraiser for like $300 while my partner was in the hospital to help with gas and bills. I got $1 which I can't ever even withdraw due to the minimum withdrawal amount being like $10. This bitch makes me so angry with her entitlement.
Despite not being able to work, I STILL donate monthly to animal shelters and random organizations. Where did empathy go?
I agree, the money going somewhere else, I don’t care. But her attitude for those that have donated or spread positivity on her channel is insane, even if it’s half a dollar, she should be grateful. It isn’t much, but she didn’t do anything for it, she’s begging other people to donate.

I know you probably won't see this, but they're back at it again and this time they're using cats with cancer to get donations. There must be at least 10+ "Save (cat name) from Cancer" etc. One petition has over 40k, others over 10k. I even got caught up in it myself and donated but luckily nowhere near as much as others who I have seen donating at least 100 a time.
I got caught up in it too. I've just been donating 5 bucks every now and then since September. I thought it was real because of those vet bills they posted but then I found an account going over everything. I mainly donated because her cat looks like mine. I'm so sad.

Yes I saw that account on instagram! It has so many followers and she keeps moving the goalpost further and further, asking her followers for more money. Just today she posted saying she needed $7k MORE. i hope she gets what she deserves.

I’ve seen small streamers on Twitch almost break down in tears over a $50 dollar donation, and a lot of people who only get 5-10 viewers per stream will explode with joy over a $5 dollar donation. How ungrateful do you have to be to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and complain about your lack of support?
Donations on twitch often mean the difference between if someone eats or not and it makes me happy to see genuine reactions like that! They're genuinely grateful for what they have in life and it shows through the camera. In Debbie's case she just wants to be rich and flex on everyone around her whilst living a fraudulent lifestyle under the guise of muh transition fund.
If ppl so much as throw a bit at me on twitch I'm eternally grateful. The fact people just take TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY to interact with me means the world to me. I don't need ppl to throw THOUSANDS at me, let alone act ungrateful for it. The absolute audacity is startling.

@@timotejlovrec9029 Streaming _is_ a job, though. You're presenting and creating content for an audience. If we're talking stable employment, landing a job takes time, and a lot of jobs don't pay particularly well especially with rents and grocery bills rising while wages stagnate. The climb out of the paycheck-to-paycheck life is a slow one, and if you've already got a computer and an Internet connection, it makes sense to fill your downtime with streaming for people who could help you make the climb a little bit easier.
(Also, for the "you shouldn't own a computer" bit, job applications and networking is done by and large online, as is keeping of timesheets and rostering. You need a computer to work, so selling it to afford food is just going to screw you.)

The fact that she wasn't even appreciative of the anonymous people giving thousands of dollars (just under the amount the average American makes per month) and guilt trips them into donating more, even when she has multiple go-fund-me’s is just horrible.

The saddest part about this is the majority of donators aren’t full grown adults with mortgages, car payments and careers. They are kids - young 20s year olds who just have a lot of empathy and love. And this lady fully took advantage of them

Fr I once donated $5 to a go fund me as a little kid, it was a really horrible tragic story of multiple deaths in a family, and they did not get a lot of donations (less than 5k more than 1k.) compared to this idiot who can just go on tiktok and a million people will donate to them and not someone who has actual time restraint needs

To the people who give money to these online funds, the fact that you are willing to help people unrelated to you shows your good-will. But please do so with precautions and only fund to trusted sources since most of these fund-raisers are usually scams.

@@lolarose8973 not everyone can afford to have the same mentality as you though. Plus carelessly donating just encourages scammers to keep going and take advantage of the system, so those in real need are more likely to get ignored if the scammers are smart enough to blow up like Debbie did.
There's also been a growing number of people on twt at least that get mad at whoever questions the legitimacy of a fundraiser, using this exact argument of "better donate to scammers once in a while than never help" which I just don't get?? Maybe you are well off enough to just throw your money at everyone hoping it lands on those who need it, but not everyone is?

What I don’t get is one of the people calling Debbie out claimed that she could get transition surgery for free either because she lives in California, or because of Medicare (she made both claims, and neither made sense).
First of all, why would Debbie even have Medicare? That is only for disabled people and elderly people. She isn’t disabled… I actually am disabled, so I have Medicare, and this I know that Medicare only covers a certain percentage of medical costs… The only thing that is free with it is a yearly physical LOL.
Second of all, what does living in California have to do with anything at all? Absolutely nothing.
It was weird that SunnyV2 went along with that absurd claim right after and said... “so if the surgeries could be completed for free, or for under $100k...” haha.

I would like to point out that one of the most invasive, life threatening, and one of the top 10 most expensive surgeries on the planet, that being adolescent 3/4 spinal fusion surgery, of which I had, only costed $240k. Her fundraiser could've almost paid for TWO OF THEM. Sickening.

Yes it is pretty obvious for most people, however that being said I think the reason she isn't in jail for fraudulent behavior is because GoFundMe and Kickstarter like websites require donations, meaning the individual chose to give their money to another person for whatever reason. Now yes she's manipulating people into thinking it's for her housing or transitioning, but I would imagine when it comes to court the court will side with her due to the stupid fact that her victims donated to her rather than her actually forcing them, even though she's not happy with how much she's stolen as it is. There's one way I think the government can get her for good though....

When I got my first donation on a Twitch stream, I was blown away. I was super happy, ecstatic, and overall overwhelmed by someone who gave me $5. How the hell Debbie is so entitled and stuck in a hateful view towards anyone who isn't willing to part with a single penny is beyond me. Hard to wrap my head around that people like this exist.

I donated $40 to someone who wasn’t even a small streamer and they thanked me for a good portion of the stream.

As of now last donation was 5 months ago,, I felt bad for all the donations I was looking at but then remembered what they were donating too so I stopped feeling bad for them lol.

I needed $900 for rent during COVID due to losing my job. I was lucky and got $2,000 donated to me and it went all to rent and I cried. More than enough. I wasn’t expecting to even receive $900 during lockdown. $350k would pay soooo much rent.

Only investors are purchasing to turn them into rentals. Next town over is a college town which are just rentals as well. Closest town next to that is over hr away. It’s easier to say buy a house than to actually buy a house.

There needs to be an option to refund donations especially if its been proven that the reason for the go fund me is fraudulent. Go fund me as a company need to do better to protect its users. What a disgusting human being. I hope the rest of their life is filled with misery.
gofundme do cancellations and refunds all the time, but doing it to someone almost at the top of the intersectional hierarchy is extremely risky for them.
It would be a PR nightmare if even just one publication picked up a story about a marginalized person getting their campaign(s) cancelled.
Thats extremely hard. GoFundMe gives the money as it comes in to the person who ran the gofundme. i know this bc i ran a gofundme to help fund my transition. I got $570, and the money was given to me basically daily. You cant refund money that you dont have anymore, sadly. If they did, it would come out of gofundmes pocket. $358k is a LOT of money for gofundme considering they take like hardly any of the money people get.
Well, if you physically donate to charity, you can't ask potentially fraudulent organisations to give your money back, as you don't own it anymore. As stated in the previous comments. Donation isn't an investment where you can hold someone accountable for malicious intents.
This entire victim/guilt culture that preys on peoples kindness and sympathy is unfortunately not regulated to just the trans community. And it’s instances like this that make people think twice about donating. Which unfortunately hurts those with good intentions and who are in genuine need of funding.
I think the word you were looking for was "relegated". I know I only donate myself when I know the situation well, and I donate materially rather than financially if possible.
