Brilliant video. My car started to get mouldy inside and i figured with it being 20 years old that the seals had gone somewhere. During the course of cleaning the mould, i discovered the two front footwells completely soaked and was baffled as to why. I knew the sunroof wasn't leaking as such because while driving in the rain, nothing came through but i actually never knew that there were small drainage channels in a sunroof. From looking at the exact route of the drainage pipes, i could see that the inside of the car was soaked inside on the way down towards the floor. I've not tested them yet but i'm sure this is the problem now i've watched this video so thanks very much.

Just done the job described here and these instructions are very good. A ratchet spanner will speed the job up as is stated. The hardest part is reconnecting the drain tubes, there is no spare length on them so the frame has to be in position which then blocks access to the pipes. I used thin nose pliers to lightly pinch the tube and wriggle it back on to the drain pipe. I used 8mm mastic which squeezes out when all the bolts are done up and has to be trimmed off but that's easy. I was surprised how well made the frame is, its quite robust, so you can pull down unevenly without worrying about breaking it.

Very thorough. Especially like the warning about using silicon. Well done and thanks.

Another problem with the Clio sunroof is that they would rattle, it was quite a common warranty repair. Overall the Clio was a fairly reliable car.
I've seen cars from VW group brands,Seat,VW, Skoda etc with far more serious water ingress problems.. People assume that anything German built or with German mechanicals has bulletproof reliability, in my experience that's not always true.

    • @retrorestore

I agree, there's good and bad points with all cars but people only remember the bad points.
