I just resolved my wet carpet problem on my Clio. Excellent video. Thanks.

This is the real deal. Very easy - worst case scenario, if you struggle to find the hole, you'll need a 10mm and 13mm socket to remove wiper arms, wiper bars and screenwash reservoir. 7 screws/nuts in total. Don't be shy with the wire. Stick it right down the hole, even if it doesn't look blocked, and everything will come rushing out. Very satisfying. Try centre hole first, if you can find it, as that requires removal of less hardware.
Thanks to the poster of this video.

Thanks for this. I have a 2003 clio too, which washes the shoes of my passengers so will definitely have a look under the bonnet in addition to replacing the seal in the roof.

Awesome mate, a year later and still very useful! I’ve just found the same hole and cleared mine out. Now to dry the carpet. I’m in same situation you was over just done my sun roof leak and re sealed all that, just this little bugger to do now. Thanks

Glad it helped. In the video, I removed the wiper mechanism and other bits but if you have a bit of wire or similar, you might be able to check that area without doing it. However on my car, it was easier to clear out all the rubbish with everything out of the way. Good luck!

I will definitely try this as I am having the same moisture on the driver's side floor as you do. I hope I don't have to remove the wiper mechanism cause I am totally crap in installing stuff :D Thanks man

Thank you ! Simple concise and accurate information. NOW, all I need to do is find those bloody side drain pipes or find a way to check (wire?). Finally, I need to find the condensate drain for the climate control, I suspect that is blocked as well.

Thanks for this - checked the sunroof, no water, door cards seem in tact - didn't know about the secret drain hole - utterly brilliant - your video, not the design :)

No problem, glad it helped. It's tricky to find and the design is a bit daft. However, nearly a year after clearing it, my carpets are still dry. All the best, Matt.

You don't need to remove the wipers etc. At the back of the engine, just in the middle, is a black pipe circa 3cm wide and six inches long. The bottom of this pipe has rubber flap. Flip their flap open with your finger and water will come out, hopefully with whatever caused the blockage. In my case it was half of a hazelnut ( squirrel maybe ) plus other muck on top of the nut. As a test of success, pour some water into the wiper bracket holes. This will go into the centre area beneath the windscreen and should come out of the black pipe. If it doesn't you could try to push something up the pipe ( bit awkward perhaps but maybe can get from underneath ) otherwise follow what this video says. I had at least an inch of water in both the back and the front. You can pull out the foam from under the front carpets and underlay felt from the rear to dry out. Hope this helps.

FixItWorkshop Worthing Hi. I actually followed your video, got the wipers off and plastic grill and seeing all the other stuff to be removed started looking around and found the pipe. Both of my outside drain holes were clear with no debris at all.

Good vid. Just cleared the drain in the centre in front of the fan housing, still leaking a bit so next step is to seal around the fan housing with silicone before replacing. Typical Reanault half effort of providing a decent gasket, as per the sunroof. thanks!

My front and rear driver's footwells are soaked (MK2 Phase 1). I understand the culprit for the front footwell might be a bad door membrane, what could possibly be the cause of the rear bit getting soaked? Perhaps also a leaky door membrane?

Just tried that comment. Found the hose and the flap but I think mine is disconnected. I tried taking off the window wipers but they seem to be stuck in place? I undo the 13mm nuts but the wipers don’t lift off? I even had a bearing puller to try and pull it off no joy. Cannot get to the pipe without taking that off it seems

Ok guys, maybe I'll find some help here... T
Does Megane mk3 have some similar "hidden" drains? Last summer I cleaned 2pcs of rain water drains. Which were on the sides in front of the windscreen.. THIS WEEK I found water in the foot well again !!! I thought these two are clogged again, but opened everything and these two were clean !!! WTF ? IS there some hidden drains also on the MEGANE MK3 ?
