Hi, and thanks for watching! I think you can, it's just that every time it rains and when you wash the car water will spill around the engine bay.
Not that much but it will.
The purpose of the tube is to be a funnel for the water.
But if there's no other option, I'd do it. Better that then to be clogged and cause a flood in the passenger cabin.
