- The S-300VM "Antey-2500" (NATO reporting name SA-23 Gladiator\Giant) is a Russian anti-ballistic missile system. The system is designed to defeat short- and medium-range ballistic missile, aeroballistic, and cruise missiles, fixed-wing aircraft, as well as loitering ECM platforms and precision-guided munitions.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Many people would agree and many would not agree and say the Israelis or a European consortium have the best.
The chinese would probably say they have the best lol.
The truth is no one knows for sure and usually there's little logic involved for those people that make "the-best" claims.

Actually Russian missile technology goes back to the end of WWII when captured German scientists were sent to the USSR to jumpstart Stalin's missile program.
Same as in the United States. We were lucky enough to get Wernher von Braun himself leading our program.
Edit: One big difference is the scientists headed for the United States were more than happy to leave war torn Europe for the US. The scientists heading east were locked up with threat of execution if they failed Uncle Joe

I Doubt it thats the hardest part of its flight to hit its moving at its fastest plus if you miss there's no 2nd chances it will be to late hell even are Thad has a ok hit rate at that but a mobile system like this hopefully we will never have to find out now I could see this hitting perhaps after launch or in very high altitudes but the fact of the matter is Russia is a bit behind on anti ballistic stuff we been more at work with it for longer at least in that area also got to think of counter measures like dumby warheads that s500 only has 2 missiles.

I thought russia had recently made an S 353. Why recreate the S-300?
Russia has completed the s700 series. They still like to make improvements on old designs for export.
The S-300 program was divided into two sub-programs, the S-300P series for the air defense forces and the S-300V series for the army, the S-300P is now evolving into the system you mentioned, the S-350, designed for general air defense, whereas the S-300V is evolving into the S-300VM, designed specifically for intercepting ballistic missiles, a task which the S-350 is not really suitable for.
These systems would be easily defeated by salvos and decoys
these systems can use nuclear warheads instead of conventional ones and all false targets will be destroyed
