Banshee porting 101 simple start

  • The simple first step to making power on the Yamaha Banshee. Surprise, its not the intake that makes the real power. If you are going to port one tunnel on the jug make it the exhaust. It yields the most power of any part of the cylinder.

    Just got my first banshee love it wish i would've found this video 2 months ago just put a whole new top end in. Now i can do it and see the difference. You ever run any banshees with the chariot 2-1 carb setup that's what this is paid 700$ for the quad just had broken reeds lol

      I do not like the single carb setups. If you want that top end power you have to run 2 carbs.

    Love watching your videos, been following you on FB & IG for a while now and now on here. Would love to see more videos of bikes after you’ve worked your magic on them. Running, riding, racing... that type of thing. Keep it coming!

    I personally tried this out and oh boy let me tell you, this did a major change on my 4mill stock cylinder stock bore no intake porting stock carbs , just with exhaust porting it woke up like it never did , I rode my buddy’s 4mill same setup and it was no where the same , this is really good when it comes to making power , and keep in mind this was my first time picking up a cylinder and triying to do some port work, my bike rides solid no issues at all and it’s true you don’t have to be specific with it.

      Glad you tried it. I try and tell people what works but the internet is hard to battle with. Everybody is a keyboard expert.

    Just to be sure I’m understanding you correctly, you are only doing the top of the port with out getting into the sleeve Right?
    Don’t do any of the bottom of the port Right?

    • @herrjugsracing7816
      @herrjugsracing7816  3 роки тому +2

      Correct, you are raising the roof but not dropping the floor. Watch the video closely. You can see how the work is done.

    Same type of cylinder as a niche brand one? If yes, how reliable are they?

    This may seem like a fun question but do you have to at least hone the cylinder when your done or is it fine left alone?

    • @herrjugsracing7816
      @herrjugsracing7816  3 роки тому

      You don't have to but its a good time to measure and bore if needed.

    Wouldn't this lower the compression Having the exhaust port higher up in the cylinder?

    • @herrjugsracing7816
      @herrjugsracing7816  Рік тому

      The more you raise the less the swept compression is. This lowers it just slightly.

  • @LuisGarcia-zc2vv

    I have a question What do you do first the porting and then do the bore?

    • @herrjugsracing7816
      @herrjugsracing7816  3 роки тому

      It just depends on the work flow. If you are porting yourself and someone else is doing the bore always port after the bore and finish chamfer.
