I’d almost think sputtering on top would be way fat, unless you’re way way lean. If you do a top end pull and see aluminum on the plug it’s burning a hole in the piston. That’s why I only typically do a 3 second pull. Won’t damage much but will show issues. Look up oem jetting and adjust from there as per the build. Should give you the lean side of ok if it’s built. Or be really close if it’s not modded too heavily

Im having a problem with my 421 it rips in gears 1-5 but 6th has no power
do you have a high flow petcock on it? I've seen them suck carbs dry before. fuel cap vent can also be a problematic point of interest.
