508T for me simply because it sits lower. Otherwise I would go with the 509 if there was an option to mount it like the 508
Can you mount the 509T to a sub gun rail like scorpion? Looks like it would mount directly
No you cannot mounted directly to the Picatinny rail,
It is a proprietary mounting system so you’re either gonna have to buy some type of mounting base from another company or you’re going to have to buy one for the rmr and use the adapter plate
I don't have the 508, but I do have a few 507's and a 509T (picking a second one up today), and frankly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the present Holosun offerings. I'm running a 507C on my current carry gun (G19), I have the 509T on an 8.5" PDW, the second 509T is going on a slide I'm sending to Jaegerworks.
I think it comes down to personal preference/individual needs at a certain point in the world of pistol optics. I like the comfort I get from the closed emitter on the 509T, plus it looks pretty baller. Your mileage may vary.
Does the 508t come with a picatinny mount? The 509t does not now I don’t know how to mount it to my tp9
The 508t Does come with a removable Picatinny mount. The 509 tea comes with an RMR cut slice Adapter.
Very helpful review, thank you. Who has iron backups for the 509? I’m looking to put one on my G35 MOS.
I want one of these for my RUGER 57 (5.7 x 28 cartridge)
-> The 509T is my preference except for its higher price. The CLOSED light path is why I want it. No debris can interfere with the reticle display. I think water, snow or dirt accumulation could render the 508T reticle useless just when you need it most.
-> The 508T is nice for its lower mounting BUT on a RUGER 57 both plates sit on a flat slide because RUGER does not inlet the slide for whatever reason. So there may be no difference at all in mounted height.
-> Third is the question: Does RUGER even offer a mounting plate for a "Pic" type mount as the 509T uses?
Will the holosun 509 fit on my Burris 5x prism sight (536)? Thanks
Yes but you will need to get a RMR to Picatinny adapter
Which has a bigger window and what's it like shooting each
Both are comparably about the same the differences so little it doesn’t really make a difference
You think the trij supp sights would be tall enough?
On the 508T yes on the 509t no
harder chance to fog up the fogging......nice i definatly dont want to add fog to the fog thats just too much fog
I'm wondering what video you are referring to in regards to the holster fit, I do not see it
Any actual testing done? Comparison of using the two on a pistol? Pros? Cons?
Only pro with the 509t is That it is a fully enclosed unit
Ok, thanks.
Do me a favor and tell me is the 509t worth the money over the 508t, I can get either one with just about $10 the difference so money is not the issue but want to see if the 509t is that much better?
It all depends An environment that you’re going to use it in
To me its not worth it but guys swear by a closed emitter. I've used the 507 and currently have the 508v2 never had a problem. The closed version is to bulky to me looks like the ugly acro big ass mailbox on your gun.
@@s1lentcalib3r I currently have 3 507c and got a good deal on a 509t so I wanted to try that. Hopefully it works out. Thanks for your input.
awoke one which one do you prefer between 507 and 509?
I like the 508T for EDC but like 509t for duty work
I’m thinking about one of these for my 20g turkey shotgun.....leaning towards the all enclosed 509T due to turkey hunting field conditions.Would it be otherwise home on a shotgun?
I picked up the HE509T works well for different level of astigmatism.
If it isn't too much trouble, could you explain more. Have you tried a open sight in the past or even a green dot? Thanks
@@tomimage100 these units are not for me or my generation glock. I have the leupold glock sight and it’s 💯 On the green dot question, yes I have a green dot sight on my long gun and it’s great.
@@tomimage100 yes on open sight. Reflex sight was no good for me so I tried the enclosed one and it worked better. The holsun did not work for my Gen 1 Glock 27 so I switched to the leupold and it’s excellent.
wouldn't the plate on the 509 make it harder to fit for the safariland holster?
It’s fits perfectly in my Safariland 6354DO
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel so your 509 T fits in a safariland that is made for the 508T?
@@hurt1704 the 6354DO is not made for 508. It was originally made for the Doctor optics that why the D.O is on the model number but it fits almost all the pistol optics.
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel it sounds like such a smart ass reply which is not how I meant to cone across haha I’m struggling with buying the safariland because I’m afraid I’ll get it and then the 509t won’t fit haha
@@hurt1704 ok I understand. It’s fit in a 6354DO and 6390RDS
Will the new models post trijicon lawsuit have the same small buttons as the gen 1 model did?
I believe so or Very similar
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel damn... that’s a bummer. lol
I bought a 509T for my RUGER 57 pistol B/C I never liked the "open emitter" design. And the 509T is a better enclosed red dot than the ACRO P1 in many ways. This is one Chinese company that really has consistently high quality products - AND cutting edge technology.
At present I'm modifying the included RMR type base plate for my RUGER 57 slide. With all mods it will weigh about 1/4 less. That's good for my low-recoiling 57.
well sadly I have ordered 508T now as they do not make 509 with green reticle and from the info I have they will probably never will or not so soon. They made few pieces a year ago and since then none were made. Also, even if you have Glock MOS or P-10 OR with their deep cut, 509 will still sit heigher by principle.
509 is better. but the mount makes it a NO GO on most of my stuff.
Where’d you buy it from can’t find them anywhere
Water Bottle I’m part of the Holosun pro staff. They will be shipping out next month
I’m waiting on my dealer to get them. Can’t wait!!
@@HowieKaluha been waiting 3 months. my dealer is projecting december now lol
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel are you sure? I thought the Trijicon lawsuit made holosun have to pull the 508 and 509 from the market. Due to the large vertical brightness buttons infringing upon the Trijicon patent. Instead of the V2, I heard they will be releasing an updated version called X2, with smaller and horizontal adjustment buttons.
Eugene Ray no they settle. The 509t was not in lawsuit. Only the 507v2 and 508v2 which will be called 507x2 and 508x2
Is the elite available on the 509t
Bro you just saved me a lot of time telling me about the rmr cuts, I’m putting one on an ak and couldn’t decide but since you told us about the cuts I’m sold on the 508. Thanks for the help
The 509 comes with the adapter plate which you can add to any RMR Mount and mount it that way.
Performance Firearms Channel yes I understand but that’s just one less thing I have to worry about. I want it to be as simple as possible, I’m weird like that lol.
Totally understand just let me know all the options out there
Performance Firearms Channel getting something small and close to a 1/3 cowitness on an ak can be a challenge, so I just don’t want extra plates or anything at all.
What holster is that? Super nice!
Safariland 6354DO
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel I appreciate it! Definitely ordering one!
Just bought the 509T, waiting for it to arrive.
Can't wait to get a 508t...... Random question What holster are you running?
For outside the pants I am currently using a Safari land 6354DO and For inside the pants I am using the Vega Holster USA hybrid
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel Ok thanks.
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel can u use a 509t on the 6354DO?
@@piaggioracing71 yes that’s my main holster
I’m not buying a red dot til spring. If all the tech stays the same between now , and then I’ll be getting the Holosun 508T to Mount on my Walther PDP. That said I’m hoping Trijicon steps their game up. We shall see.
Awesome review on the optics
I like the idea of the enclosed emitter, but I prefer the height of the 508
ordered my 509 back in january still haven’t got it yet
It’s coming soon.. COVID and PD orders mess everything up
Its on sale on gunbroker now act fasf
Purchesed the 508T and happy with it. The CIRCLE/DOT is much better then RMR. Looks very cool. Stil some Fisheye, that is not so good
The 509T just look too ugly to me
It’s beautiful Compared to the aimpoint
Any idea if the 509t would work with an Aimpoint ACRO plate?
No it won’t It’s proprietary
@@PerformanceFirearmsChannel Thx
I like the open sight on pistol to cowitness with the Amerglos and the closed unit on a offset rifle set up along side a 1X8 scope.
If you get your slide cut the 509T cowitnesses too.
Put the enclosed one on a rifle
That my next video. Exploring options for mounting the 509T on a rifle
I've never shot one with a closed emitter so I'd obviously have to say open lol. Goo comparison video, thanks brother 🇺🇸
