  • Tony Jeffries shares techniques on how to beat the hands down boxing style or stance. This type of boxing style of Roy Jones and Logan Paul relies heavily on great reaction, speed and counter punches. You want to throw realistic feints and throw multiple punches, not giving them chance to counter punch.

    Great advice. If you rush them with combinations while their hands are down, it will take time for their hands to come back up, which leaves them open.

      @@Tony_JeffriesYeh but if they are side stepping, back stepping and you are stepping forward with punches then YOU are open to walk onto a punch…which will make you then shy away from doubling up on your punches. I’ve seen this too often and it mostly fails. I strongly believe you have to change to the same style as the hands down opponent, practice and be good at that. However if your club never taught you hands down fighting then you are fucked. You are effectively a ‘tree’ against a ‘snake’. Btw, I’m not a fighter but I spend my time really analysing how fighters win, how they lose (not professionally, just in my own free time). The most successful fighter to me is probably Mayweather, he mixes hands down and hands up style, however he selects the style dependant upon the range, he does a lot of feints, shows different postures, positions, most ‘guard up boxers’ end up being too stiff and can’t keep the pace as you simply can’t punch as fast whilst your hands are up and/or you definitely can’t disguise your punches as well as a hands down fighter. I believe hands down fighting needs to be taught and boxing is missing a trick where trainers just teach a hands up style.

    There's a guy at the gym I go to that uses hands down style, and the feints work on him absolutely every time. People do this style because they see it on the internet and think they can pull it off, but forget how useless it is without the right footwork and head movement.

    • @AverageGabriel
      @AverageGabriel Рік тому

      It takes specially trained footwork and head movement to bait the opponent and it only works on less experienced fighters or even pro fighters who simply aren't good at the mental aspect of fighting.
      Going hands down when you don't know who is control of the fight is only asking for a loss.
      It's really something only for the most experienced fighters.

    Go to the body first cut the ring off then feint to the head and got to the body. Work the jab and hooking off the jab to set up the power hand to the head or body, if they're orthodox. Also get them to turn their shoulders and hit them on angles. Most fighters like this don't do well if you are not directly in front of them

      It's more for not getting psyched out by not understanding what your opponent intends to do and where they intend to strike. He's trying to help you understand that there is a way to keep the fight balanced and not let yourself give way to mind tactics like one does when standing still or dropping their guard.
