  • Hiking to the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau Alaska might involve traversing slippery rock, navigating around a flooded trails, scrambling up a few steep spots and the slightest amount of bushwhacking, but in my opinion is totally worth it!!

Great to see the drone shots of Mendenhall. I live nearby but haven't been on the glacier itself. That water is incredible. Excellent videography of the celebration! Love that shot of the drum vibrating! Good work 👍

You should have seen it back in 1977. The face of the glacier was hundreds of feet high and 1 mi wide. It basically touched Thunder Mountain on the east side and Bullard Mountain on the west side. Just a little bit of that rock Peninsula was showing back in 1977. It breaks my heart every time I see it. It's like a slow slow death.

How much time do you need to reasonably carve out to do this hike and back?

Sometimes I just can't believe home 🏔️ blue indeed! ...also unbelievable how much the Mendenhall has receded in such a short span of time 😳😞
