  • It took a couple of tries to reach the top of this lonely unnamed peak between Bear Lake and the Bear Mountain summit, but that just made this personal success feel even greater. I love the steep, rugged and trying mountain terrain of Baranof Island and Tongass National Forests. Some of my most difficult tests have been taken in this raw and wild land.
Although this was not included in the video, on my return from the first attempt at this peak I would have unknowingly come head to head with a pissed off momma bear and 2 cubs who’s goat meat feast had just been interrupted by a can of mace, had I not been warned to change my course by a phone call from caring hikers who had already had a close call. Thank you so much for going out of your way to make this call and taking the time to guide me around the upset animal. My day may have ended much differently had it not been for you efforts!
