hiking in from Sitka and camping on the shoulder of Mount Bassie offered pretty sweet views of the Baranof Island mountain peaks emerging from the clouds.
A few years back I gave up on an attempt to cross the island because I hadn't brought crampons, and found way more blue ice than I expected for that time of year. Instead I just spent two full days camped on the summit of Bassie, watching ice blocks fall off the side of 5390 all day, and this kind of stuff in the evening. Thanks for capturing that place so nicely!
